I've bin driving in the philippines for almost 5 years but i came here in NY with out any driving experience out of the phils i went to grand prix booked 1 lesson and a roadtest package. Guess what i passed on my first try, i had a very excellent intructor in Eddie he gave me tips to pass the test, and also explained to me the differences of NY driving. With that i highly recommend this school, office staff was also great very professional and accommodating. more

excellent place to learn to drive well 10/27/2008

I signed up to take classes in the spring. I had never driven before in my life. Eddie, my instructor was really patient and encouraging and fun to learn from. But above all he is a very safe driver and teaches the same to his students. During the summer I was away and did not drive for 3 months. Upon my return i took some refresher hours with Eddie and I just passed my road test today! And I didn't just slide by, I got 15 points (if you get 30 you fail). So needless to say I am really happy and grateful to all of grand prix, because they were all so nice and helpful and never once caused any headache , which is so rare when with anything these days. The people in the office were always prompt and informative from the first time I called them and asked them what I needed to do in order to learn to drive. And I had a great experience learning from Eddie who has been teaching there for more than 15 or 20 years. So I just wanted to express my gratitude and satisfaction with this place because it was so incredibly positive the whole way through. Great people, great instructors, and a painless five hour class. I would recommend grand prix to everyone, even for people with licenses! i think it says something about the quality of instruction when from my second lesson I was driving in the impatient nyc midtown traffic in the rain! I was scared out of my mind and the only reason i think i didn't crash was because my instructor's calm demeanor made me rise to the occasion. anyways the least i could do was thank them and show my support for great service and experience. thanks again to Eddie and to everybody in the office! Pros: administration, instruction, support more

Let me preface this with the fact that I passed my road test with only 8.5 hours of driving lessons with Reggie. I had no experience in a car, and got my learner?s permit 5 years ago. Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck ? and there I was learning to drive in the city. With GPDS, I got a crash course in city driving, making driving everywhere else a piece of cake. People forget that instructors are professionally certified. They?re licensed to teach and know what they?re doing. It?s just a matter of one?s willingness to learn. Some of the reviews that are posted are clearly from people miserably riddled with complaints, and don?t understand the concept of LEARNING how to drive. ?Multitask,? he says as he proceeds to talk about food as I drive up Third Avenue. Reggie provided me with both intuitive instruction and actual - normal driving conditions (because it?s impractical to think that driving is something you do alone, with no interaction with anyone or anything around you). Therefore multitasking is crucial. Now I?m comfortable in a car, even with a bus on the right side and a big truck on the left. I?m surprised I?m confident enough to get on a highway, and I parallel park like a pro (Reggie and his freaking triangle lol). The office staff is nothing but professional, and always calls ahead to notify you of any changes. If you?re looking for a driving school well worth the money, GPDS is it. They?re not about glitz and glam nor babying their students. They?re about getting you to pass, the FIRST time around. Pros: Intuitive Instructors, Professional Office Staff Cons: It's hard to schedule/reschedule lessons because there are so many students. more

EXCELLENT SCHOOL 5/19/2008

Excellent school. Firm but very fair. Both combined test preparation and general road safety in an exceptionally effective manner. I studied and took lessons intensively for one month. I did not only passed the written and practical test but more importantly became a safe and confident driver. Driving is an important skill to master and I would wholeheartedly recommend Grand Prix Driving School. more

WORST EXPERIENCE, EVER 5/15/2008

first thought that it would save me some time. Taking lesson around where I work... BIG mistake!! Not only the two cars that I tried were disgusting. the two different instructors that I had (I don't even want to remember their name) were just UNPROFESSIONAL! Then, I thought... Maybe it's the way in NY.. Who knows, i am new here. So I stuck with them. The instructors were basically teaching me how to horn and never taught me anything! No wonder I FAILED my driving test. Next day, I ecided to try ANOTHER school.. I took only three lessons with another instructor in Brooklyn and one week later: I have it (thanks to that new instructor). I was wrong. It's not due to NY, it's due to grand prix driving shcool! THE MOST HORRIBLE EVER!!!!!! don't be lazzy and just go away from this school! and if you have a bad instructor anywhere else. Run away from him/her 'cause that won't help you! Best of luck! Pros: is there any??? Cons: disgusting cars. Rude staff. impatient and useless instructors more

HORRRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Sign in ONLY if you want to fail!!!! 5/15/2008

There is no word to say how bad this school is. The instructor was rude and completely impatient: How can they actually say that they are a schoo?! the instructor was alway late and I often had to wait in the car while he was taking a break (I had never paid for people's break before..) I am going to try another school. There is no need to pay so much for such bad services!! Pros: it's in Manhattan ??? but there are plenty of other schools Cons: Horrible instructors and expensive rates. Rude staff more

Great school 4/13/2008

I never thought I could have so much fun doing driving lessons in manhattan. Not only did I learn what I needed to be a licensed driver, but I actually enjoyed every lesson that I've taken. My instructor knew his stuff, made classes interesting, and was very entertaining. I would highly recommend grand prix driving school to everyone I know. more
