Goombays Grille & Raw Bar

We've been coming to goombays for about 10 years and it's our favorite place on the Outer Banks. The family always meets their while waiting to check into our cottage. Our tradition is to return on Wednesday night for dinner. The food is consistently good and the service is on time. Be sure to say Hi to Michelle & Scotty in the bar and try a Goombay Smash. From the minute we walked in this place, we were treated like dumb tourists from up north. The bartenders were rude, rolled their eyes at us and tried to add drinks on to our order. There were 4 drinks that we never ordered. This increased our bill over 40 dollars. Oh and they are expensive there! I asked the bartender about the drinks and she turned away from me and handed it to another bartender. The other bartender came over and told me not to worry about it and he would remove it from the order. No questions asked... That is when I thought that they are scamming me. We love this place and hit it every year without fail. My parents introduced us to Goombay's 4 years ago and they have been coming here even longer. My mom swears by the chower and my husband loves the gumbo. I love the great fish and chips. The decor is really cute for the kids to enjoy too. Pros: Great food, casual and beach attaire welcome Cons: Can be crowded in-season. more
