Gomnaru is one of the best and cheapest places to get Korean BBQ in Berkeley. For about $5 you can get a really good dish. They serve spicy and BBQ chicken as well as beef and pork. From my experience the chickens and the pork are the best. But here is a little tip, if you want to get soup with your meal, I think it is a Miso soup, then dine-in. Take-out loses the soup. Also, the Kim-chi there isn't tooo hot so it tastes really good with the rice all mixed in. more

This place is the best place i've seen for korean food. I like it way better than Steve's, though they each have their own tastes. For one, Gomnaru has miso soup, salad, and kimchi with their dishes. I'm not sure if they offer refills on soup and rice, they used to back when it was still Epicurean. Service is quick and fast, and there's a huge tv where you can watch sports while you eat. I almost always bring my friends here when they visit Berkeley, simply because like what a previous post said, it's really the best bang for your buck. Go now!!! more

Gomnaru 3/29/2006

Often overlooked because it's location is out of the way for most people, every engineer at Cal knows of and goes to Gomnaru. When you've been in the lab for hours, and you want some quick Korean BBQ, that's priced with a student in mind, that's where you go. The place is simple enough, and you can eat there if you need to, or outside on the tables and benches. more

The only place I eat at on Northside. 3/21/2006

When I'm stuck in Soda, I love grabing my lunch at Gomnaru. Gomnaru offer really great Korean Food. They have a pretty limited menu, but not like their regulars ever order something other than their favorite dish. I love the spicy chicken. I've been going there for over a year now and I've watched a lot of changes happen here...The food is not as good as it used to be, but still good and the prices have gone up. But still a great place to grab lunch. more

Best value for the dollar in Berkeley 8/15/2005

I feel it's my duty to let people know about this great Korean restaurant, tucked all the way inside the food court on Hearst St. (right next to Etcheverry Hall). I never would have imagined you could be full on a $5 lunch at Berkeley until I went to this place. During lunchtime they offer these $5 combo plates ($4.98 including tax), which come with two huge slabs of BBQ (or spicy) chicken (or beef), rice, a delicious fried potato snack, veggies, and miso soup. For about $6-7 you could also get combo plate that has a little bit of everything (spicy chicken, BBQ beef, etc). Try this place for lunch if you haven't already. The place is really tiny so get there early for lunch if you don't plan on takeout. more
