bad service 4/19/2011

The is not the first time I've been to Goldfish. Last time, the service was great. The food was good even though it's on the pricey side. This time, I ordered a dessert after my meal, the chocolate raspberry cheesecake, which turned out to be not that good; would not order that again. The waitress was not really there at all. She did not refilled our glasses until we flagged her down and asked for more. Then, when we paid for the bill, she kept the change without asking! We were going to put down some cash tip, she did not have to decide it for us. more

Look elsewhere 4/7/2009

I do not feel that Goldfish is worth the prices that they charge. Our food was fairly tasty, but the service was horrendous. Server was unpleasant and ignored us during most of the service. Entrees were brought to the table half way through our appetizers. Restaurant is extremely loud as it has poor acoustic planning. I had to shout to communicate with both our server and my friend seated directly next to me. I will not return and will not recommend to others. Pros: Restaurant is visually attractive Cons: Horrible service more

Decent food marred by horrible presentation! 12/30/2008

While the food and ambience was good, a restauarant that has alacarte items to order with your dinner should be alacarte. I got a plate of fish with lump crab meat almost covered by alacarte sauteed spinah and jack grits. Shouldnt alacarte be in a seperate dish and prepared for people to share and taste? Presentation is important, especially in times like these! There are too many restaurants to eat at that have it down. This was made up for by our server who was courteous and prompt and brought out a desert to compensate for the overbearing plate. Dont know if I would go back unless they get it together. Pros: Great Server, Decent Food Cons: Bad Execution in the Kitchen more

A great dining experience 10/2/2008

We went as a group of 8, my wife and I, our 4 parents, and our 2 teen daughters. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing.\r \r Everything we tried tasted fantastic, from the soup and salads, to the sushi, to the entrees. I'm used to my fish being either slightly overcooked or over seasoned. At Goldfish, it was neither. The sea bass special was cooked perfectly, with minimal seasoning. Our table also had mahi-mahi and grouper - both of which were outstanding. The sushi was fresh and delicious.\r \r This was a birthday celebration, and a dessert was brought out by the waiter - everyone else ordered and they were top notch. This is not an inexpensive meal, but if you want a special dinner, I highly recommend it. Pros: convenient location, valet available Cons: not much, maybe a few more ""non-fish"" options more

too noisy but good 4/30/2008

I took my mother here for her birthday and it was pretty delightful. I had a server who did exactly what I wanted. He was nice and kind, and very attentive. My mother enjoyed her sushi while I enjoyed my flounder. For the price you get pretty full too. The restaurant is too loud though. The music is too loud. Should try toning it down a bit... but overall it was good. If you are looking for seafood, nothing too spectacular, go to Goldfish. Pros: food Cons: noise, sushi is ok more

Best Seafood and Grits in town 2/4/2008

I would recommend this establishment, the service is good the staff is very attentive and the food is great. I would highly recommend the salmon and grits. more

Great Fish... very noisy 1/16/2008

I took one star off because its so extremely noisy. The food is wonderful. Many different varieties of seafood in as many different preparation styles. I didn't try any sashimi, but did have the tempura shrimp roll for as an appetizer and it was quite good. I would recommend taking a look at the menu online before going. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Noise more

Not what I expected 11/28/2007

I recently visted this place and was disappointed in the lack of concern from management. My server was great, the atomsphere was ok, the booth was dusty and the breezy attitude of management when I had a problem arise was surprising. I was excited to visit for lunch since I work in the area and had seen that many people praised this location. It was relatively empty since I visited between the normal slow period of most establishments 2-4p; and was immediately seated. The server was attentive and informative about the food. But, when we had a problem with a dish, management was hard to find and quick to dismiss us with a comp. I didn't complain for free food, she never came back to the table and left to join her counter parts back in the bar to finish her own meal. Not really willing to try this one again, but perhaps another sister food establishment. more

The Atmosphere was especially nice 10/30/2007

Situated on the outside of the Perimeter Mall this restaurant greets you with an upscale feel as you pass through the outside tables. As you pass through the doors you step into an atmosphere on one hand that is comfortable yet will fulfill that romantic atmosphere for that special someone or occassion. The service was prompt and the serving staff was pleasant , well informed and helpful. My food was cooked exactly as I ordered and you don't feel packed in due to the space between tables. You are made to feel special by all of the staff you encounter. If you are looking for a comfortable and romantic atmosphere, with very good food and excellent service, then I would recommend the Goldfish. Oh, there is also ample parking if you don't want to use their valet service. Pros: Atmosphere, Service,Excellent food, Ample parking more

Good location, good food, good service: Good time =) 10/25/2007

The location is obviously much better for someone within or closer to metro Atlanta. Perimeter mall offers a more lively surrounding area, with other things to do before or after dinner; and parking is definitely not an issue. When you walk into the restaurant you will notice an interior decorated with very contemporary and vibrant colors which convey both elegance/class and excitement. This ambience matches the dining experience quite well: the service was excellent - very knowledgeable and polite waitress, and a certain class about all the employees that provided a degree of sophistication and more upscale feel to the restaurant. At the same time the feel, ambience, and ample spacing between dining tables and booths allows diners to converse at great volume, which makes for a fun and lively experience.\r \r The wine list was not necessarily ""extensive"", but stocked with good wines (the pinot gris we were recommended that night was so good that I've ordered a case), and the wait-staff again was knowledgeable enough to help with pairing.\r \r I'm not certain how other reviewers could view the food as average... though I suppose it is depends on what you get. The swordfish steak I ordered was exquisite. The quality of the fish was excellent, and cooking left it quite tender and wet without seeming undercooked (therefore no ""fishy smell'). The vera cruz sauce was strong enough to provide flavor if you wanted to taste sauce, but not strong enough to detract from the fish flavor. My friend who ordered the special (a grouper encrusted in a walnut-based bake) was pleased with her food, though it probably wasn't as good as the swordfish.\r \r The only cons you could find with the restaurant would be if you got something on the menu which wasn't absolutely exquisite, and you compared tha to cost. If you factor in the ambience and service (and I think the food is quite good), you can't complain.\r \r ... and I've already been back! So I would recommend to anyone. Pros: Service, Location, Ambience, Food more

This Fish Has Lost It's Luster! Needs A New Catch! 4/27/2007

Just a couple of years back, when Goldfish first opened, it was in my top five for upscale Seafood. The place is starting to look very worn. As well as the menu. It's not that the food is bad, but there are too many better places in this same niche. Even the once very good Sushi, is just dull. At Prime, their sister restaurant, the Sushi still reigns supreme. After dining at Oceaniare, Silk, and Nan, poor Goldfish has just lost the luster. Maybe a makeover of the menu and dining room, might do the trick. We still like one of their good Martini's out on the patio, after a day of working the card at Nordstrom's. Pros: Once Very Good Seafood, Now Just Average! Good Drinks! Cons: Needs A Makeover of Menu & Interior! more

Average. 4/6/2007

The sign and the overall design of the place may give you some kind of chic feel, but the most important thing about the place-the food- was disappointing. I went with a group of friends, and got a room in the back, and it was a relief to get away from the noise. The service was great. He was awesome.\r The food was SO VERY AVERAGE(I'm being nice). Thank god, I'm not one of those people who blame the waiter for the horrid food, eh? I got the seared tuna steak(I do not recall the exact name) with pepper, and the tuna was so full of sinew that it was impossible to chew. I love tuna tataki(the seared tuna), and this thing was.....just thick, and mean. My other friends got sushi pieces, and some rolls, and they were just ordinary. We really shouldn't have ordered sushi in that kind of place, and expect it to be awesome.\r I recommend the Yu-Ka sushi bar. the MF sushi is great, but really pricey, so for people who want sushi but don't want to pay 12bucks for a Cali roll can go there and get the same quality of food.\r I thought the Goldfish was average. I'm not hating the place, but I don't think I'll venture near it again. Pros: Service and Ambience. Cons: The Food. more

Great menu choices 3/13/2007

Goldfish has a very extensive menu - including a large selection of sushi. The crab stuffed flounder is quite delicious. Also - dont forget about their martinis - for their bar serves up some great drinks. I recomend making a reservation on opentable - and try to sit in one of their large, rounded booths. I have been there 4 times now and will keep going back. Pros: Sushi, Martinis more

Decent Seafood, and sushi 2/23/2007

I must say that this place did not make much of a statement. Nothing was wrong with the place, but I do feel that the people are a bit pretentious. For all of us restaurant lovers I have a special request to the restaurant owners, don't try to have a snobby attitude just to make it seem like your restaurant is great, let that show through the service, ambiance, and of course the food. No one was rude to my girlfriend or myself, but I could see how this place would have some bad service encounters. Actually, the service was great, I am merely speaking of the people at the host/hostess stand. The fish tank up front was a joke. If you are going to have a fish tank put some friggin fish in it. Now, let me start off by telling you about the sushi( which is all we tried, besides the soft shell crab appetizer), the sushi was decent. The sushi was fresh, and I do recall an earlier review where someone said there sushi was a little too warm, I noticed that also. I wouldn't say that the warmth of the sushi ruined the flavor, but it was noticeable. The sushi did not stand out in my opinion. I actually have not found a sushi restaurant in Atlanta that takes risks with their sushi. The sushi in this city seems to be standard everywhere you go. If you want sushi that is a little more expensive, but risky then try MF Sushi. The soft shell crab appetizer was pretty good. It is friend, and the batter is very thick so at times it is hard to notice the crab meat. I was dissapointed in this appetizer, it had more flare on it than food. I am over 200 lbs. so it could be that fact that I have a big appetite as to why it seemed a bit small. This place gets a recommended rating only because the sushi was decent. Try other sushi places first. I know this is a seafood place, but I had sushi when I was there. Pros: Decent sushi, great service Cons: The restaurant itself is pretty bland more

Fancy, Pricey, Good 11/23/2006

This pseudo -Japanese/fusion restaurant offers sushi, steak, and a variety of other meats. Were it not for... more

great place 11/28/2005

My wife and I went in for an early dinner after being reluctantly relocated to the area. I took her to dinner to cheer her up and our server (Justin I think...) knew we had a rough week. He let us do our thing and offered specials, including half price steaks. I had the NY Strip, it was wonderful! He then brought us his favorite desert unannounced and on the house. The overall value of the place and the quality is well worth it. The staff was much friendlier than what we were used to. We've found a new favorite! Pros: Decor, great bar, great food Cons: limited wine list more

Tastless place 4/21/2005

Food is nothing original - their best items on the menu are tastless Extremely noisy Crowded - people are sitting next to each other so you will know what people on all tables around you are talking about Bad service Sushi are terrible Cons: bad food, noise, bad service more

Love this place 4/7/2004

This is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat in Atlanta. I like the Perimeter Mall location, not usually as crowded as Buckhead spots. Love the fried lobster tail, the sushi and all the seafood dishes I've had here. Goldfish never disappoints. Good desserts too. Pros: Usually not crowded more

Never disappointed 2/22/2003

I've eaten at this location several times and never been disappointed. The hostesses aren't the friendliess, but the waitstaff is always good. The filet is great and so is the mahi mahi. more

Overall A 1/28/2003

I have been to this restaurant only once but I would definitely recommend it to others. We were seated after a 20 minute wait on a late Friday night. I ordered the Mahi-Mahi and my guest ordered the salmon with side dishes-both very delightful. We also had the shrimp dumpling appetizers which was delicious as well. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. And we spent less than $50 for both our meals including a 25 percent tip. Great for a 2nd or 3rd date. more
