I cant go by all the other reviews posted here because they are all extremely old..im going to post one of my own that is most recent. My husband and I currently dined at golden phoenix and it was wonderful. the service was very quick and we got our drinks very fast aswell. we went during lunch rush and the food was extremely fresh and tasted wonderful. There was no wait at all we walked in and sat down and the waitress greeted us immeditly i like everything about this place even the desert. best chinese food we have eaten by far. I live about then minutes away and will def go again. The price wasnt that bad..i mean most chinese food is very expensive but our ticket for two came out to about 27.00 with tip and drinks..good price for unlimited buffet thats fresh. and elegant dining. as i was standing there they were changing the food with fresh food and warmers ..loved it more

I like the Golden Phoenix, the manager, Lorena, puts up with a lot from the customers and the employees. I take my family to the restaurant as I know the manager takes care of the food, keeps it fresh and taste good.\r more

I took my friend visiting from Panama to eat at Golden Pheonix. When it came time to pay my ticket, the manager rudely refused to believe the credit card I was using to pay was mine. Further more she created a scene as I was providing my business card and driver liscence to prove the card is my own business credit card. My family used to go almost every Sunday after mass and besides the long wait standing outside we loved it! However, since they sold it the food has gone downhill..\r \r oh and my last visit i was in the restroom and saw a busboy and older man in the toilet stall [theres only one closed stall in the restroom] and 98% sure they were doing promiscuous things..I told the manager and she insisted that I was lying..I even pointed the busboy out and everything...\r I am not anti-gay, I just don't think that should be happening there..especially with an employee and since its a FAMILY restaurant..\r that was my last time EVER going there.. Pros: remodeling was great Cons: horrible food..if taking your kid to the restroom walk in first and make sure no one is having s3x more

We had not been to Golden Phoenix in awhile, and decide to go tonight. Well we should have thought about it twice. It will be the last time they get my money. The food was horrible, no flavor. All the dishes we use to love are no longer on the buffet, no more General Joe's Chicken, no more Teryaki chicken, no more Shrimp dishes, like Wonderful shrimp. more than half of the food was Previously frozen american food. If I had wanted American food I would have went to a place that has good American food, not out of a box or a bag. The Chinese food was horrible, one dish had imitation crab meat and celery and carrots with mayonaise and was heated no other seasoningsand the called it baked seafood. When I ask what happened to all the chinese dishes they said to come back at lunch, monday thru friday or I should have ordered off the menu, hint: they have a menu? had been going there 6 years and never been offered a menu. The service was horrible, ask for hot mustard and duck sauce and got hot mustard no duck sauce ( trying to hide the flavor of bad food). When I ask the waitress what happened to all the chinese dishes on the buffet she pointed to the buffet and said Chinese food. needless to say We will not be going back and I would suggest going to Schewans in UC, they have great General Joe's Chicken. My family and I loved this place at one time. We loved especially when the elderly gentleman/owner hovered around the place ensuring all was well but since the place was sold it went downhill very fast. We visited the place on three occasions since the sale and I'm beginning to wonder if some organized commemorate bought the place out and turned it into a generic place.\r This restaurant used to win the ""peoples choice award"" however, the last visit we notice not too many people around. The food items on the buffet were very old and overcooked, some items had a kinda ""slim"" feel to it and we left kinda early. Even my 4 year old commented that he didn't like the place any more. \r To all those who loved the place in the past and are searching for another place to get your Chinese fix please find a way to post Any places you find. Pros: although overpriced, you can get full on cheep tasting food items Cons: lost all it charm and taste more

I have been eating at the Golden Phoenix since summer of 2003. I have always enjoyed their cheerful service, good food, and wide variety. However, in the fall of 2007, they had a change of management and since then I have been VERY disappointed. The food is still good, but details are sloppy. \r \r I have asked for no onions in my food only to find onions. I have asked for chicken fried rice and get shrimp fried rice. Twice now they have forgotten certain add ons such as lemon sauce for lemon chicken or the sweet and sour sauce for sweet and sour pork. They even still have a Christmas tree up with decorations and fake presents (Feb 08). That has little to do with food, but shows as an example that they are letting the details suffer. They have hired new people and I find them cold and distant. Several of them were whispering in Chinese and gesturing at me repeatedly. I got the feeling that the conversation was not in my favor. \r \r Gone are the days of warmth and making sure the customer is satisfied. The change in management has ensured that the Golden Phoenix is condemned to the ordinary. It is now officially declining and I'm stuck trying to find someone to replace my favorite chinese food place. The buffett is very good and fresh - though not always authentic Chinese :)\r Service is very quick.\r \r If you are in need of a good buiness lunch and want Chinese Buffett, go here.\r If you want a relax sit down for lunch, not here.\r \r I would recommend this place for my friends and family. With today's inflation, ur dollar may not stretch as far as u want. Golden Phoenix IS the place 2 go if you crave seafood, chinese, sushi AND stake\r This is a family style restaurant, great value for your dollar (8.99 for unlimit cocktail shirmp, crab, stake and chinese!?). But i did saw wedding/baby showers, fare well party, and anniversery/graduation parties held in their in door patio.\r My favorite is their rangoon /w sweet and sour sauce, give it a try if you haven't, all my friends got hooked! The stake was surprisingly tender, co co shrimp is a must have when it's fresh. Green bean and chicken wing r my favorites 2. Who say chcken wings has to be buffalo style!? Their hot&sour soup w/those crisyp things put other chinese restaurants' to shame!\r I grew up eating there, although i've tried their competitors', i always come back to here. You will be surprise to see how many awards they receive and how many famous people dined and sign there. They also give out pretty calendars after before christmas.\r 5 or 6 is the best time to enjoy seafood dinner. The service depends on ur luck. We've had one rude hostess(dunno name, but short w/long, beautiful hair, always in black?) throws the utensils on table when we ask to sit at different table. my friend even saw her cussed at another pretty long hair asian girl in the middle of restaurant years ago!\r There's also one waitress i stay away from. Grace was our server once, we enjoyed her service until we paid w/credit card. Instead of set the tray on table, she held my boyfriend's credit card like hostage, point 2 tip area & tells him 'total & sign'. We alwasy leave tip in cash, so when she saw the 0 in tip secion, she snags&crumble the slip, took off like a storm!\r We've never experience such rude host/waitress! After we address the issue, i still hear frequent complaints from people. Does owner take actions to all those complaints!? more

Golden Phoenix has great food I think they need to serve more vegies dishes, and more healthier dishes. I do enjoy the grilled vegies, and broccli but the cheese should be on the side. Less fried entrees. I enjoy all of it but I am trying to eat healthier.\r Restaurant is not as clean as I would like to see. \r It is still my favorite Asian restaurant to eat. I give it a 9 1/2. Pros: Lots of food to choose from if you like sea food. Has good taste. Never too long a wait. Cons: Too much seafood, not enough vegie dishes, not enough healthy dishes more

Went back after year absence to former favorite restaurant and it Simply was not worth the trouble. Sushi was warm and wilted, food bland. Complained but no one was too concerned as long as we paid. So we Paid and Left Hungry. Management team just gave up. Too much competetion within 6 Miles and believe me it's worth your time to travel the extra distance to another restaurant. I love coconut shrimp, shrimp cocktail, sweet and sour chcken , grat steaks!!! Its the number 1 Buffet. more

Although this busy joint is no where near romantic, you will however find quite a selection of goodies. They aren't skimpy with their seafoods, and you will find crab legs, peel and eat shrimp, as well as plenty of seafood dishes, and chunky meat dishes. However from the vegetarian/vegan perspective, the regular buffet seems a little scarce, offering only spring rolls, lo mein, and green beans. HOWEVER, they do offer sushi on their buffet. I am a big fan of sushi, and i have sampled many places. They did have really great sushi before they got their steak grill...but now the sushi has gone downhill by far. The price was in the area of $8, but they hiked it up to more than $12 since they added steak. Go try it, then roll yourself home. Meat eaters say the steak is good. Excellent quality food for the price. They have a all you can eat buffet, and a ""a la carte menu"". Almost all chinese staff renders the place to be a true chinese experience. They do speak english by the way... =)The owner makes sure all his patrons are satisfied, a true personal touch, unseen nowadays. A MUST experience.
