Very cool museums, good for relaxing afternoon, clean 8/13/2006

A must for any SF visit-in Citypass there is admission for Legion of Honor and de Young museum. Didn't get to visit Legion, but did visit some parts of de Young. Nice touch if you like art. Visit the Japanese Tea Garden for some beautiful pictures and relaxation. Citypass also has 7 day unlimited municipal transportion (Cablecars, Light-Rail and Buses-great value, and boy did we use it!). Pros: Free, relaxing more

Better than Central Park? 9/9/2002

The best place to go for a good run-- great parking, long trails, beautiful scenery. more

A day well spent 8/9/2002

The Japanese tea garden, the carousel, the shaded walks, I can't say enough. A great place to draw, paint, relax, picnic, walk, meet up with friends. more

A forest with the city... 7/29/2002

When you can't afford the time to visit California's state parks, just stop by Golden Gate park! Find a patch of grass off a beaten trail and sit among the trees. Soon you'll forget you're right in the middle of a bustling city! Pros: Free Cons: Avoid at Nighttime more

National Monument 7/26/2002

Mention San Francisco and everyone thinks of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a ""must do"" to walk it and get your picture taken on it. A day with the fog rolling is is even better. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking more

Free is good 7/25/2002

Just grab a pair of good walkin' shoes and go. Golden Gate Park is not the same by car because you will miss all the eccentricities and beautiful grounds if you don't walk through. You can spend a few days wandering around checking out the gardens, the polo field, Lake Stowe, and much more. It's free and free is good. more

when the weather is nice... 7/23/2002

everyone flocks to golden gate park. all different types of people everywhere. best people watching in the city. if it's overcast-many times it is-the musuems are always a good alternative. plus the buffalo are always fun to see. hidden treasure of it-the casting lake and archery range. more

fun for everyone 7/23/2002

There are so many things to do in Golden Gate park. From exercise, cultural experiences to relaxing under the shade of a tree reading a book. The park has gardens, museums, lakes, etc. to offer. Pros: free, parking fairly easy Cons: can get crowded more

fun in the sun 7/23/2002

The gem of the city, this Park encapsulates all that is good about SF: public space, vistas, outdoor beauty in an urban setting, free, accessible. So much to do, it could take a week to see everything there is to see in the Park. more

Hands down It Golden Gate 7/22/2002

This is the biggest most funded park in the city. It a huge place that you can spend years exploring. On a sunny day you can't bet the crowd. great place to bring the JR's. Pros: beach is close, alot of open space, bus acessible Cons: drunks sometime, Have to take bus to.. more

I love to bike on Sundays 6/10/2002

My favorite part of the park is how they close much of it to cars on Sundays -- letting bikers, skaters and walkers have free reign. Getting in and out is often difficult, but once you're settled, there's so much to do (Tea Garden, museum, aquarium, etc.). Pros: Nature in the city more

Tough to beat! 5/22/2002

I love running through this park every night, people watching, dog watching, whatever....there's so much to do! more

Go to the Tea Garden 5/20/2002

I love the Japanese Tea Garden! Especially during the week when it's not overrun with tourists--it's lovely in the spring when the cherry blossoms bloom. It would be even nicer if the staff serving the tea was a little less harried, and the tables not quite so sticky. more
