I called GA really late Saturday night after I discovered my subzero refrigerator was not cooling. They came out first thing Sunday morning and had the whole thing up and running by 10AM! Their prices were about the same as my usual guy but he would have charged me extra for Sunday where GA did not. I was also happy to see that they carried all the parts needed in their truck and were able to fix it on the first trip. Pros: sunday service, had the parts, fair price more

Don't believe that ""unfounded slander"" business... that is EXACTLY what happened to me last week. I actually looked to Citysearch to find a reliable appliance repair company, and besides the one, they have a great record, so I went with them. I needed my stove fixed and The Gas Company had come that day and told me exactly what needed to be repaired. He described it as an easy fix and told me exactly what I needed performed. When G.A.R. arrived, he opened up my stove, and told me that it WASN'T what the trusty Gas Company said it was. It needed two parts, he said, and and then told me that he needed to order those parts, and find out if they were even available anymore, as I have an antique stove. It was just as I'd feared...I felt already like I'd been duped by a corrupt auto mechanic! He assured me (twice) that he'd call me the next day to tell me the status of the parts to be ordered and I paid him his $50(!) for the service call. I have used General Appliance Repair repeatedly over the years and have never had a problem. They always give a fair estimate and have even told me when an appliance was not worth repairing. After 5 or 6 trips out to my house and about as many referrals to friends and family, I still have no complaints. Pros: estimate up front, good suggestions, reliable Cons: none come to mind more

1. Called for an estimate, they wouldn't give me any instructions over the phone, said they can't say anything until a technician comes in. Technician arrived, said he can't diagnose anything because the fridge was unplugged. I said, ""how come I wasn't told on the phone to keep it plugged in"". Technician basically said ""tough luck"", charged me $45 and said they will come again any day within 3 hours of my call. A live person answered the phone late at night to make an appointment for the next morning. They came out on time, fixed my refrigerator in one trip, and the prices seemed pretty reasonable. I'd suggest mentioning the coupon to save some money. Pros: answers phone, pricing, discounts, one visit fix more

When I called to have my refrigerator serviced, the service was promt and very professional. Furthermore, the serviceman came at the exact time as promised. I was given a reasonable quote and the repair was done promptly. There was no waiting for parts. All work was done on the same day. Pros: Fast service more

I had an estimate from another company that I wasn?t very happy with. I called General Appliance and they beat the estimate by about 25% and gave me a better warranty on the parts. more

The refrigerator in my garage stopped cooling. I called General Appliance Repair and their helpful staff sent a technician out right away. He came out and gave me an estimate to do the repair but recommended against it as the refrigerator was pretty old and not worth putting that much money into. My refrigerator broke down a little after 10:00pm and after calling about 7 other companies and getting answering machines I called these guys and got a live person. They offered to come out right away but I decided to make an appointment for the next morning. They were on time, well mannered, reasonably priced, and my refrigerator works great. Thanks Tom! Tom was very friendly and professional over the phone, and helped me schedule an appointment during off hours because I work during the day. (I called several other companies and no one could come out during the time I needed). My dryer was fixed quickly, and the charge was reasonable. No complaints. I came home from work around 5:30 PM to find my freezer completely defrosted and the food in my refrigerator going bad. I went to the phonebook and found a card for General Appliance right on top. I called and spoke with Tom and there was a technician at my home before 7. They did the necessary repairs and my fridge was cold before I went to bed. I see there is a 25% off labor coupon here but when I mentioned the ad from the phonebook they honored that higher discount of 30% off labor. I've used other appliance companies before and I have never felt as comfortable with one as I felt with General. I'll be sure to call them again in the future.
