Editorial review from Citysearch 10/26/2012

I'm a new parent, my son is just five months old. We selected Gateway Pediatrics because all of the staff in our son's nursery and NICU raved about Dr. Norman Steele. We really like him after five months has gone by. He has the gentlest bedside manner, and his policy is that if you think something is wrong, you are the parents and you know best, so he just goes with Momma's gut and it has served us quite well. Instead of a doctor who sends us home to keep looking for symptoms, he gets us in to other treatment options right away, and then personally follows up with a phone call to us to review findings and reassure us about medications, feeding changes, etc. It's nice to have a doctor who makes you feel good, I just hope he doesn't retire in the next 18 years!!!! more

Donna and Dr Steele are Amazing 4/22/2008

I take my kids to see Dr Steele at DePaul. He is great with children, probably because he has grown children of his own and several grandkids. My daughter loves him and calls grandma after any visit to tell her about the visit! When my daughter was sick and he was at the St Lukes location he offered to leave the St Lukes location and meet me at the DePaul location. Anytime the kids have been really sick, he's followed up with a phone call a few days later just to check on the family. When my son was in the hospital under the care of a surgeon, Dr Steele came to visit us every morning. He actually told me more about my sons condition than the admitting Dr would tell me. Dr Steele also has a wonderful bedside manner. He could tell me that the world was going to end in a few hours and he would word it in a way that would make it seem as if everything will be okay. Donna is a nurse in the office at DePaul. She is wonderful. Once when my son was sick and needed an MRI & CT scan. She called & got them scheduled within a week. When I was calling they were telling me that it was booked for months. She was also able to get me a morning time as my son was just an infant and needed to be sedated. When you call the office, you get a HUMAN! Not the pyramid calling answering machine that many Dr's offices have. You are treated like a person at that office instead of a piece of equipment on a factory conveyor belt. A human (usually Donna) calls the day before any a appointment with a reminder of the time. When the baby is still young and the parents are still a little neurotic about germs, the staff lets you take the baby in the 'private' entrance and you get to go directly in a private room. I've never had to wait for an extended amount of time to see the Dr. I'm usually in within 5 minutes of my appointment time and the Dr spends at least 30 minutes with me answering ALL the questions that I have. And treating all of my questions with as much concern that I have. Pros: Donna is wonderful, Dr Steele is the best, Cons: Dr Seville, who is a Dr in the practice, has a horrible bedside manner. (I had to deal with him a couple of times when he was on call) more
