Gary was honest and I recommend him fully. Read on to hear the great experience I had.\r

Unless I just don’t want to do a repair I usually do most of my auto repairs myself. I have the man cave garage with every tool and code reader needed to do almost any repair and enjoy doing it. So I know a thing or two about auto repairs and the cost. My truck needed 3 new catalytic converters and I didn’t want to do it myself because it’s messy and frustrating not to mention we live in California, love that Cal EPA (enough said). \r

So I got 3 quotes one from Gary and two from other places. After Gary checked the converters out he was convinced only 2 of the three needed to be replaced. I was shocked, He could have taken me for the 3rd if he wanted like the other quotes did but Gary didn’t. He replaced only the two converters and the truck passed smog and now runs so much better. Based on the increase in power after the repair its like a new truck again. \r

I like that Gary's invoice shows the cost for parts and the cost for labor separate, this is really important. I looked up the parts and he charged me less for the parts than I could find them anywhere. I felt that his labor was more than reasonable for the work that had to be done. I felt he was very honest and knew what he was doing. He seems a little rough when you are talking to him but who cares about bedside manor when the job gets done right, on time, and at a reasonable price though he really was a nice guy. \r

I did have other quotes for the same job. He was the only one that said only 2 of the 3 converters really needed to be changed, how honest is that. The other quotes were much more because they wanted to replace all 3 converters when only 2 were needed. I liked also that he kept the converters for me to see after he replaced them. It was obvious that they needed to be replaced once I saw them. I have learned from experience over the years that you should always make a mark on any part that needs to be replaced by a mechanic so you can tell after the repair if the part they show you that was broken was the actual part or if they are feeding you a load of crap. The two converters were in fact the converters from my truck and one was completely hollow and the other was completely clogged. They defiantly needed to be replaced and there was no way the old parts would have passed smog. As for the 3rd converter? He offered to replace it too but said it didn't seem necessary. He told me to bring it back if it didn't pass smog but it did with flying colors. Really honest that is hard to find. \r

Based on my experience I fully recommend Gary.
