If you are a fan of minimalist decor and modern furniture, you will love Friend in Hayes Valley. They sell all types of home accessories and furniture from well known and innovative designers. This is a great place to shop for gifts though items can be on the pricey side. Very cool clocks and lamps, especially. Go during their holiday sales and you'll see many items on sale for 50% off. Cool Furnishing 8/20/2005

Friend sells very modern and colorful home furnishings, but not for cheap. Their stuff is pretty unique and innovative, but I've seen better stores around that area (and for cheaper). Their lamps and light fixtures are really cool and funky, but they're quite pricey. It's fun browsing through their stuff and ideas...but that's about it. I suggest you browse around a few others stores first to compare. more
