Freeb!rds

While I was a student at UCSB, I ate at Freeb!rds frequently. I really loved their burritos and nachos. Sure, it is a little expensive, but they give you enough for 2 meals! The people who work there are great and now that I have moved out of IV, I really miss the place. I think that Freeb!rds is an Isla Vista icon and everytime I go back to Santa Barbara to visit, you can bet that I'll get food there at least once. more

Some people in IV say they have the best burritos and nachos but I disagree. They do have good food but it's their convenient hours that make it so appealing. They are open 24 hours, and conveniently located right next to where Bill's Bus drops off students which I'm sure accounts for a lot of business. Their prices are a little high but they do have generous servings and sharing is always a good idea especially at 3 a.m. when you and your friends are on your way home and starving after a night of drinking. more

Being open 24 hours is pretty nice and the atmosphere is definately quite nice. There food is good but I think you can get better within IV or within Ellwood. I am not a person who likes to get all the stuff in my mexican food and this puts you at a seriously disadvantage pricewise at this place. The location is also pretty convenient. more

Freeb!rds is the only 24 hour resturant of the college student populated town of Isla Vista. Many college students bring their drunken or stoned heads to Freeb!rds at the wee hours of the morning and night, especially during the weekends where Isla Vista is known for their parties. The portion servings in Freeb!rds are huge and you do get what you pay for, though it is still edging toward the pricey side for a burrito, if you get the works (sour cream and guacamole). With that being said, Freeb!rds has a cult following, but is highly overrated. Yes the burritos are good but they are not the "best in the world" or even of Isla Vista. Freeb!rds is only worth a try if you are a tourist in UCSB, an oreintation kid, or you have the munchies at strange times in the night. Otherwise there are much better dinning services in the area. more
