Great menu/Great specials 10/21/2009

I learned about Fran's Filing Station from a friend who knew I was more interested in good food and interesting flavors than fine china and silver service. I was not disappointed. The slow roasted tomatoes had a rich and rustic taste. The hand cut french fries w/spicy sprinkle were as good as I have ever had. The server suggested their homemade Russian dressing with the fries and it was the bomb. Pros: Good portions/Great flavors/Low prices more

Delicious Lunch Place - Can't wait to try dinner! 10/16/2009

Just had lunch with my girlfriend's a Fran's. It was very yummy! Fran herself came over to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. This is a great spot - the kind of place where you could get all your favorite things under one roof. I will definitely be returning to check out the dinner menu. My Perfect Restaurant 10/15/2009

This place is the epitome of what I wish every small casual dining experience could be. I've never been for lunch, but its a great-sized place for a date night, or an after-dinner drink at the bar. The wait staff are excellent, and the menu has the perfect blend of not-too pretentious dishes which I would classify as casual gourmet. The bacon-wrapped tater tots drizzled with honey are a must. The mussels in a white wine garlic sauce are great too, and they have greek fries! The menu's versatility and food combinations are pleasantly surprising. The service & staff mirror the greatness of the food. Thanks to the owner of this establishment for bringing it to Charlotte! Pros: Amazing Food, Service, & Everything! Cons: Small Dining Room more

Tots and Bacon 10/8/2009

Any restaurant that serves tater tots wrapped in bacon as an appetizer is okay in my book. The food is excellent. The prices are fantastic. The service is wonderful. I just discovered Fran's- we went for dinner but I've heard it's a great lunch place too - recently and we will be back . . . often. It's a great place to meet up with some friends for a casual dinner. I give it four stars only because it's not pretending to be a high-end 5 star restaurant. It's a place where the food carries the day and it does so with a unique and fun menu. This is the sort of establishment you wish you'd see more of in Charlotte. I highly recommend it. Pros: Great Casual Eating. Interesting Menu. Cons: Small. Very limited wine list. more

My New Favorite 9/14/2009

Found this place by accident, tucked away off Park Rd, same shopping center as RuSan's. I've been back three times in two weeks and STILL the hardest part about eating at Fran's is deciding what to order. The sandwiches are out of this world, especially the ""Turkey Jezebel"" and the ""lemon aioli chic salad."" They also offer a salad d' jour, which when I went in, was actually fresh watermelon with hints of cayenne pepper and fresh lime drizzled on top. WOW was that good! The filling station is far from ordinary and everything I've tried has been homemade and crafted with a culinary expertise that's rare to find. Haven't tried their dinner menu yet but rest assured, that's soon to come... Pros: Fantastic Sandwiches Cons: No Outdoor Dining more

    Nurturing comfort foods include the Metro meatloaf, plus a bowl of two fat meatballs in wonderful marinara, rosemary-grilled chicken breast with onion rings, "Thanksgiving on a plate" (house-roasted turkey and trimmings), and more.
    Plus, Fran's Filling station also offers mussels many ways, Maryland-style crab cakes, burgers, Italian beef sandwiches, Nicoise salad and truly fabulous fries, served with your choice of blue cheese and herbs, goat-cheese ranch dressing or "secret spicy sprinkle." Make sure not to miss the bone-suckingly great crispy ribs!
