I've taken all of my pets here for over 10 years. I have no complaints whatsoever. They are very flexible and receptive to my requests. more

Scary experience to be honest... 12/29/2008

My typical groomer, Happy Tails on Coors is closed today so I searched local groomers just now. I read a review on Four Paws and it reminded me why I only had my dog groomed there ONCE. I am not accusing the woman who groomed my bichon frise of anything directly and didn't at the time, but I probably should have in retrospect. My bichon was brought to the groomer perfectly healthy. My son picked him up and brought him home and said ""Mom there's something wrong with his eye."" I didn't really pay much mind to it and said it was probably an irritation from the grooming around his eyes. Later my son became more upset and said You HAVE to look at his eye. To my horror, the white of one of his eyes was totally bloody. I called the groomer about it, she said she had no insight into that and it probably happened after he got home or left the shop. I took him to the vet and the vet said it was the result of TRAUMA, which he certainly did NOT experience since leaving the groomer. He thought it was either from a fall or a direct impact with an object. I was sick to my stomach. He recovered just fine, but the thought this place hurt my animal, whether intentional or not, is important enough to make public. I never pursued it. My dog was ok eventually and I couldn't have proven anything, so it would have been a waste of time and there is always the possibility it did NOT happen because of an event in the shop. I did not want to be unfair. So, simply, we have never gone there again, and never will. Pros: Easy to get an appointment Cons: Please read review more

I will NEVER return! 5/17/2008

I have two Chorkies, which I have taken to several different groomers. Four Paws is the first groomer I have taken my ""girls"" to here in Albuquerque. I was fine with the price they charged me because one on my girls was matted, but not more than any of the other times I have taken them to the groomers. We arrived at 8:00 and were told to return at 4:00. We had asked that they give them trim and cut the hair around the nose to give them a look of a longer face. When we returned at four, we found that the girl's hair was cut very very short, it looked very very choppy, and the hair around their nose and eyes hadn' even been touched. We were not satisfied and asked that they finish the job correctly. We were told to return at 6:00. When I returned there was another couple there to pick up their dog, which seemed to be some kind of snouzer who had the same hair cut as my girls, which made it apprent to me that at Four Paws, they might only know how to cut one style. They were also apologizing to her. The worst part is that when I got home that night, one of my girls was bleeding from her butt glands, she did this for three days. When I took her to the vet, the vet said that her butt glands were not cleaned properly and they were very irritated. We will never go back. more
