I hate to give a negative review also but based on the prices that this restaurant expects, I think that it is important that people know what they are getting.

Terrible Service, Small Portions and High Price!! 5/5/2012

My wife and I met my Aunt and two cousins in Senoia, Ga. to go to the Cotton Picking festival in Gay, Ga for the weekend. We all stayed at the Varanda Bed and Breakfast. When we arrived at the B&B we ask were was a good place in town to eat. She highly recommended Founders Restaurant. (She must get a kick back from the restaurant for sending guest to them)!!! She even made our reservations for us. So at 6pm we show up and I was ask did we have reservations and I replied we did, but I noticed the place was over half empty. The waiter we had was either very new at being a waiter or just a plain dumb ass! He ask if we would like to have any wine and my wife asked him what he recommended for a good house red wine. He started blabbing off about 20 wines so fast then he stopped and said so I guess a good glass of Chardonnay would do? Like I said dumb ass, Chardonnay is a white wine. My wife said never mind, she'll just have water. We ask for lemon for our water we never got. then we ordered 3 appetizers 2 orders fried green tomatoes and 1 steamed mussels. They came out with 2 plates on tomatoe order with 2 fried tomatoes on each plate with some red drizzle on the plate with absolutely no flavor. So that's 4 fried green tomatoes for about $16.00. The mussels tasted like those you buy in the frozen seafood section in the box you heat and serve. We ask do we get any bread? The waiter said yes he forgot. He brought the bread then we asked do we get any butter for the bread, again he said yes and had to go get it. We had to ask for salt and pepper, the waiter bring this tiny shalt shaker and a giant pepper mill. I said don't you have just a regular pepper shaker, he said no they don't if we want pepper on any thing he will do it. I said then just leave the pepper mill on the table, and the dumb ass said he would come by each time we needed extra pepper on anything and do it himself. (IT WAS HIS JOB). We got out main courses and honey they would not fill up a tea saucer with the small portions and no one at our table said any of it had much taste of what they had. One of my cousins ordered fried oysters (extra crispy) and when they came out she had to send them back because they were raw!! The waiter forgot to give my wife her side dish with her fried lobster tail (which the waiter told her was a 8 oz. tail) but looked like a large shrimp on the plate!! He did go get her other side dish though after asking twice. I offered to pay the bill for everyone. Then the waiter brought the check since it didn't take too long to eat no more than they had served us. And my wife would have blown a gasket right their if it had not been for us being with my Aunt and cousins. The bill was $138.70 and they automatically (not mentioned anywhere on the menu) added 18% gratuity $24.96. Grand total $163.66 and that's with nothing to drink but just water!! The bill had under the 18% gratuity (additional gratuity) and a space to add more. My wife wrote( NO UNDER PROTEST) signed the bill and we left (all still hungry). So if you'r going to visit beautiful Senoia, Ga. and it is, plan on eating at the other eating establishments they have there. Pizza or a sandwich shop. We should have had the pizza. That's where everyone was at, so it must be pretty good and not near as damn expensive. PS, Whoever responded to my review (the service was excellent) must have been the waiter!! more

Not so good! 8/8/2011

I bought a groupon for this restaurant and was very disappointed. We went to have lunch and you can not use the groupon at lunch, it has to be at dinner. The groupon did not say that, so we could not use it. My sister was here from Milwaukee so we thought we would take her to this restaurant! The service was BAD, the portions were VERY small, the prices were VERY high, my sister ripped her dress on the wood bench that we sat at, and when we got the bill the prices on the menu were not the same as what we were charged. Even though we still have the groupon, we might give it to someone else to try. I would never go back. more

Founders - Need to Find a Chef 4/26/2011

The people in our party ordered relatively simple, straightforward fare at lunch the other day and all but one of us was disappointed. Unbelievably (to me) even the hamburgers were awful. Fries and okra were equally as bad - cold and soggy. There has got to be a problem in the kitchen - I've shared my story with at least 6 others since my visit, and they've all told me they had similar experiences. One big negative that I keep hearing is that the food is not what people expect. I also keep hearing that usually one or two people in a party are satisfied with their meals, and the rest of the party is very disappointed. Apparently, a few of the dishes are fine, but it's a VERY mixed bag at this place, which is a shame since the decor is so nice. This leads me to the reason I'm taking the time to write this review. I would really like to see this restaurant succeed - nice interior and Senoia is a cute town, but the food really needs a lot of attention - waaay too inconsistent right now. BTW Service was fine, until we needed our check and then the waiter disappeared, and we had a hard time getting his attention. more

Worst Food Ever for the prices they charge 3/28/2011

First I called to make a reservation, a gentleman answered the phone, we were taking my sister there for her birthday, I asked if they do anything special for birthday?s and was told ?we have candles?, I was shocked, I wasn?t expecting a birthday cake or to have chucky cheese come out and sing happy birthday, I wanted to know what special desserts the restaurant makes. I thought that was very rude, but I liked what I saw on the menu and couldn?t wait to try the place out. I will talk about the Pro?s first and then the Con?s. more

Will never go back.... 2/26/2011

As Good as it Gets 12/19/2010

When my family moved to Fayetteville from Long Island we were immediately impressed with nice people and almost everything else with the exception of the eating establishments. Coming from New York, there was never a shortage of fine restaurants to choose from and we quickly realized that South Atlanta lacked what to us was a crucial ingredient. That is, a great local restaurant. Thankfully when Founders opened for business we knew after our first visit that this issue had been resolved beyond our expectations. more

Something Special 10/17/2010

Founder's is the diamond of South Atlanta. Just outside Peachtree City, in a little town called Senoia, you will find a special restaurant well worth your dinning experience named Founder's. The food there is incredible (Billy always has something special happening in the kithchen), the live Jazz is soothing (Karen Greene and Tony B are two entertainers that no one should miss), the restaurant itself takes you back to another place in time. I cant stop, the bar is something out of this world, I mean seriously, there is so much greatness happening on there that I dont know how to fit it all in; you just have to see for yourself!! I will finish by sharing this last bit, Founder's Restaurant is something special and I am so happy to live close enough to enjoy dinning there often!! more

9 out of 10 10/1/2010

I think this is the best restaurant on the southside of Atlanta. The atmoshpere is comforting and welcoming. The jazz band is just a tad loud but wonderful music. We have been there 10 times and all but once was the food and service superb. I often visit there just for a glass of wine before going home in the evening. I think all the food with the exception of the Lobster Ravoli is outstanding. The owner is usually working along side of his employees. Steve the bartender is an asset to any resturant. I hope that you give it a chance as it is one of my favorite places to eat. more

New Cook Wanted 9/5/2010

After my first visit I wondered who they were catering too. My lunch was expensive and not as expected. This is a small quaint southern town, so I was looking forward to the fried green tomato sandwich and fried okra. The okra was bland, greasy and served in one whole piece. When I bit into it, all the breading come off in my mouth. The okra was hard. Not your grandmother's fried okra that is for sure. The fried green tomato was sliced very thick, deep fried and served on a huge bun. It was both flavorless and greasy. more

Great dining experience! 3/20/2010

My husband, son and I had dinner at Founders last night for our anniversary. We really enjoyed ourselves. The restaurant is beautiful and the live music was really nice. Our meals were very good. The highlights were the bread, fried green tomatoes, and the mashed potatoes. The service was excellent. This is just what Senoia needed! Can't wait to try them for lunch!! Pros: Great Fried Green Tomatoes, beautiful atmosphere more
