My wife and I dined here last week, and we're not very impressed with what they have to offer. We ordered a large tossed salad and a large three-topping pizza. The salad came in a styrofoam take-out box: the lettuce was wilted and the mushrooms were slimy with black spots. Poor quality control. I live in fl now but used to visit Fortels since it was right around the corner from my house. Not bad pizza but Ron and Shirleys on Gravois was my favorite. I know they closed a long time ago but I still have dreams of that pie!! more

Their pizza tastes a lot like what my mother used to make. What separates Fortel's from your regular chains is that the ingredients taste a lot fresher to me...specifically the onions and mushrooms. Also, I haven't found many places that will put shrimp on pizza but this place does and it seems (and smells) so wrong but it tastes so right. more

ok fortel's is alright the sauce needs a little something but it s still not like any thing special heck i'd rather if i had a choice either go to napoli's ,blackthorne,la pizza ,faraci's or even raccanelis but if i here one more person say its because they have mozzarella i'll go nuts ok seriouslly mozzarella as a cheese really has no flavor by the recipe . I am a transplant from Pittsburgh Pa. Believe me I had a difficult time finding good pizza in St. Louis. Everything was your everyday pizza chains. Finally, I found Fortel's, a family run Pizzaria for families. Fortel's is a great place to dine after the game. It is a great place to have any celebration. Fortel's takes pride in its product and always satisfies new and established customers. I just wish Fortel's would open a restaurant in Oakville, Mo. Thanks Fortel's, for making me feel at home in St. Louis! Pros: Ample parking...nice and friendly dining room...excellent service Cons: Not close enough... need a restaurant in south county...specifically, Oakville, Mo. more

The pizza is terrible. It is like they pour a bunch of suger into the sauce. It's terrible. I went with a chef freind of mine and he literally demanded his money back. more

If you are looking for the best crust sauce and topping selection in town, search no further. Everything is so flavorful and fresh, all the time. I can attest that I have never been disappointed at Fortel's West location. I also highly reccomend the appetizers. Give them a try and you will be hooked. I heard all the great things about their pizza on the radio and friends, but when we picked one up we were VERY disappointed. Very bland taste and little expensive for a pizza place. Either one likes the pizza or they don't...and my entire extended family thought it to be lacking flavor and over compensated with salt, maybe to enhance the flavor? I work by the new west location and the food is ok with some inconsistancy in preparation. I've gotten pizza couple of times that had so much oregano on it that it was uneatble. The wings are excellant. A word to the wise (don't order the cheese garlic bread). I find the pizza pricey by most pizza joints. overall opinion is that Fortel's is overrated Pros: delivery, wings, ok pizza Cons: inconsistent, pricey, that soda bar? more

Fortel's hamburger pizza is the very best pizza in St. Louis. In fact, it is seond only to my own homemade hamburger pizza.
