enjoyable stay 6/6/2011

Thank you Annette. It truly was an enjoyable stay. Thank you so much for the time and attention that you put in to making our event enjoyable. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was as good as I expected. Since we have outgrown our facility here, I’m sure we will use Fort Rapids again for some of our meetings. more

What a great trip! 5/24/2011

Stayed at the Fort Rapids from March 23 to March 26. Check-in took less than 5 minutes and we never waited longer than two minutes for an elevator. The hallways and rooms were clean. Everything in room 301 functioned properly, including the free wi-fi. Had originally booked for two nights but the family was having such an enjoyable stay I decided to extend the third night. The desk manager arrange for this cheaper than we had orignally booked online and included 4 water-park passes for free. Only ate one meal at the bar, and the reuben sandwich was ample with nice fries. The entrance to the service road is a little strange but there is another way to get there: take Hamilton road to Groves road, then left on cloverleaf. We found this easier than navigating the entrance off of the ramp. This is the best way to go to the strip malls for take-out food. All of the staff went all out to make us feel welcomed, with everyone smiling. I was a little nervous to stay here after reading the reviews, but having nothing bad to say about our stay. Our stay was during the week, and it was not so busy with no waits for the slides. The water temp. was fine, and the air was very warm in the water park, which had plenty of towels and no trash about the place. We would stay here again and suggest you give it a try. Our family travels quite a bit and can say this is a nice place. more

Was a blast! 5/17/2011

I brought my daughter and her cousin to Fort Rapids indoor waterpark for their spring break and it was a complete blast!!! They have tons of slides and fun attractions I had to pry them away at the end of the evening. We spent 7 hours at the park and it seemed like only a few we were having so much fun. If your looking for a great way to spend quality time with your family and actually interact personally with your kids Fort Rapids is the place to go. more

Exceeded my expectations! 5/10/2011

Concering the comments I read that scared me away. To the family that thinks this is in the heart of the Ghetto obviously you have never been to the Ghetto. The area isn't Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills if that's what your expecting but it's very safe and nice. It does have a mixed crowd of ethneticity but God made us all equal and we found the crowd to be wonderful. The Hotel has kids running everywhere because it's a resort for kids. The staff treated us wonderful our entire stay. Our room was very very very clean. The sheets were fresh and the maid was at our door at ten a.m. to clean the room the next day. I didn't see any bugs and the halls smelled just fine. I WOULD TAKE MY CHILDREN HERE AGAIN. OBVIOUSLY, YOU KNOW I HAVE TO BE A GERMAPHOBIC OR I WOULD HAVE NEVER DROVE TO SEE THE PLACE BEFORE I BOOKED. ANYONE WHO HAS ANY CONCERNS....DON'T! REST ASSURE AND KNOW YOUR CHILDREN WILL HAVE AN AMAZING TIME AND BOOK IT! If you do run into any problems just ask for the manager on duty! We had a wonderful experience with Keith! We plan on returning soon! Thanks so much for making our weekend fab more

Thanks to the staff 5/6/2011

"This was our extended family’s first visit to Fort Rapids. Before the trip, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. With ten in our group (4 adults, 6 kids), this could’ve really turned into a stressful staycation. But everyone in our group would agree…this was one of the best ideas we’ve had yet! First of all, the place was a great value for the money! FR offers some great package deals and we chose the “Suite” Stay for our large group. The accommodations were fantastic…comfortable and clean. The waterpark was super exciting for our 5 year old and still “cool” and a blast for our 15 year old. All the kids in our group enjoyed the arcade as well. (Truth be told, I think the adults enjoyed everything at Fort Rapids just as much as the kids…maybe even moreso!) And I’d like to say “thanks” to the staff at Fort Rapids. We were there 3 days and experienced great service from the attentive staff the entire time. We really can’t wait to go back!!! :) " more

Just Wow! 5/2/2011

The first thing that had us saying "wow" at Ft. Rapids was the amazing number of special packages available! We chose the overnight staycation package, which for our family of four was perfect - a night stay in the kids bunkhouse room (you'd have to see it - the kids had bunkbeds in their own little "log cabin" section - complete with their own TV!!!), two days worth of swim passes, $20 in arcade cash and a bag of mining dirt! We were thrilled that our room, which we were told we couldn't check in to until 4:00pm was ready at noon when we arrived! After dropping our stuff in the room, we went straight down to the water park, which is conveniently placed right off the side of the first floor. The water park was amazing! It had a younger kids' pool (Kiddie Korral)which my four year old loved! Then there was the lazy river, the activity pool and some of the coolest slides ever! I still remember when I was going head first down the racer - which plummets down a large slide right at the end! Exhilarating!! Of course, not to be missed is the centerpiece of the whole park - the Rascal Roundup. This is a huge playhouse that allows kids to shoot or dump water, ride slides and climb to their hearts delight! The bucket at the top drops over 1000 gallons of water at a time - and it's hilarious to see the kids running to get under it! The arcade was alot of fun as well - it had a very nice assortment of games. The mining area where the kids can sluice for gems and fossils is located right next to it. Everything is so conveniently placed! In case the water park isn't enough, there's also activities held throughout the day. There's bingo, board games, and old time photography - just to name a few. The restaurant - the Branding Iron Grille- was also a delight. I got the half chicken and my husband had steak - both were wonderfully prepared, and were very reasonably priced. The staff was always very courteous and helpful. more

Great Management! 4/29/2011

We came to the park on a Saturday afternoon, stayed in the hotel (Cisco Kid Room - king + bunk bed) and left late Sunday afternoon. Check-in was easy and the people fantastic. The manager, Beverly Joseph-Kinney, was great! She gave me a tour of the new villas (where I will stay in the future) and gave us coupons to discounted portraits and pizzas. She was kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Every staff member I encountered (from lifeguards, to wait staff, to housekeeping) seemed happy to work there! They were genuinely, and successfully, trying to make our stay a great one. The waterpark is wonderful! Half of it is geared toward smaller kids. The wading pool goes from zero to 2' deep with slides and fun water games. There are bigger slides for kids under 48" tall and even more slides for kids of all ages! It was fantastic. The prices were great with the package I got - 2 adults, 2 kids get one night stay in the hotel and two days of water park action, all for around $230. There is a great arcade there too. The pizza from the restaurant was the best pizza I've had in a long time, the breakfast buffet was good, and service was even better. All-in-all, we will happily recommend this park to our friends and family. Although the hotel room was in disrepair, it WAS clean, and the staff, the prices, and the fun will keep us coming back. more

outstanding job 4/27/2011

The staff at Ft. Rapids did an outstanding job for our annual conference. It was nice having the management staff and chef take such an active part to insure the conference was a success. The guest room rates were affordable, free parking - not the case for most conference centers around downtwon Columbus, free internet, and the food received favorable reviews from conference participants. more

A Blast! 2/15/2011

Fort Rapids was a blast yesterday not only for our students but for our staff as well. We will be looking into possibly going back in June. more

We will be sure to visit Fort rapids again soon 2/9/2011

I just wanted to drop you a note and thank you for your wonderful hospitality this weekend. The kids and parents all had a blast. Your staff was great, the rooms were nice, water park fantastic. So thanks for everything and I am sure we will stay with you again. more

This was a great place for the kids 2/2/2011

They have apparently had some issues, but have worked hard to bring the resort back up. We stayed there 3 weeks ago and the staff was friendly, and food was good. Stay in one of the Villas, they are huge! more

We always have a blast when visiting Fort Rapids! 1/28/2011

Just got back from our third visit to the park, and it is even better than before. The menu changed some, it's a better fit for our family's tastes. The kids are having more fun in the park than ever. They added a little cantina in the water park where you can get away from the noise but still keep your eye on the kids. And the drinks are cheaper! The rooms (we stayed in the suites) are still some of the nicest rooms I have ever been in. Clean and sumptuous. We did the old time photo thing this time. What a hoot! more

A great place to go to 1/20/2011

My wife daughter grandson and myself stayed there i was reading the reviews and found them to be amusing to think that people complain about there being to many people there come on people it is a water park there are suppose to be alot of people i can not think of one place we have been to that does not have long lines and you have to wait that is the price you pay when a place is wonderful and people want to have fun so for my family and i i think it is a great place to go to and we will go there as often as we can thank you. more

Not one thing I could find to complain about 1/14/2011

We went to Fort Rapids this weekend and even though I lived in Columbus for about 10 years I had never been. We were excited to reconnect with some friends that we don't get to see too often and thought since this was equal distance for all of us that this would be a great place for us to visit and the kids to have fun. It was easy to locate and even though the local mall has closed down and the area is a little run down because of that it sits by the highway all by it's self so I don't understand the comment about it being in the Ghetto! We checked in on a Friday night and went to the waterpark imediately. It tired out the kids and we relaxed with a couple of drinks. It was a perfect end to a 2 hours trip in the car. We then went to our rooms which were had fresh bedding and clean bathrooms. There was a slight musty smell but that is to be expected with people bringing wet suits and towels to the room all the time. All the staff that we had contact with were pleasant and helpful. We got up the next morning at eat at the breakfast buffet which was delicious and had about every option you could want for breakfast. It was extremely affordable too and included your beverage. We went to the arcade for a little bit till the park opened at 10 and had a great time on only $10 for the 4 adults and 3 kids for an hour and won lots of tickets which were cashed in for prizes. We entered the park at 10 am and stayed till we were simply exhausted. We even had lunch in the waterpark and it was good as well as far as waterpark food goes and was inexpensive as well. The rooms were less than $100.00 once you take the price of the waterpark passes off that are included and it was an inexpensive great couple of days for a weekend trip. I would definitely go again and would absolutely consider a birthday party there. It is great for the kids young and older because it is an enclosed area and there are a lot of life guards so even when they have worn you out they can continue to play and have a great time with less supervision. more

It was a deal finding this place 1/5/2011

My husband and I took our 9 year old twin grandsons for a weekend stay. The park is very easy to find, right off the freeway, it was clean and very child friendly. We found the staff pleasant and eager to please. The restaurants serving good food at reasonable prices. I know the boys enjoyed the waterpark and arcade. Hope to return next year. more

A great trip to Fort Rapid's 12/29/2010

My family and I decided to take a small road trip just to get away for the weekend. We were pleasantly suprised when we arrived at Fort Rapids. The front desk staff was pleasant upon our arrival and our room was great, clean and updated. The kids enjoyed the water park (shhhh, I did too :) We all enjoyed the restaraunts. Definantly plan on returning to Fort Rapids again for another family weekend, wish I knew it was so close sooner. more

Great prices! 12/21/2010

We stayed at the waterpark for the July 4th weekend. We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. We didn't think it was too overly busy and there was places to sit, eat, and enjoy ourselves. The waterpark is amazing with something to do for all ages! There was a game arcade that we went to both evenings that we stayed. We also dined in the restaurant quite a few times and found that their food was excellent and the service was AMAZING. Pretty good prices also!! We will definetly be going back. more

You guys are great! 12/14/2010

I just want to say that you guys are GREAT! I have referred you to all of my friends and I thank you so much for all of your help more

A real great time 12/7/2010

My girlfriend and I were meeting some friends in the Columbus area but had the afternoon to kill, so we started looking for something in the area to do. Since the weather was not cooperating and most everything was closed on a Sunday in Columbus, we decided to check out this property. The location is a bit off the main drag but it was easy enough to find and located just off I-270. We didn't need to stay the night, but they offered day passes to the water park for a reasonable $19.95 per person for all day access. The hotel itself is themed up in a very effective "rustic lodge" setting, which is only thrown off by the modern arcade games just off the water park. The locker rooms were well equipped with showers and electronic lockers. We had to pay $5 for a small locker for the day, but if we were staying at the hotel we could have easily left everything in our room. The water park itself was a kid mecca, complete with a two water play grounds, one that included a giant bucket that dumps water every few minutes. They had several water basketball courts and a wading area with mushrooms for the little ones. All of these things were nice, but we were more interested in the lazy inner tube ride, as well as the 8 water slides that zip you out of the building before splashing you back down. 5 high speed slides, 2 tube twists and a funnel slide that dumps you into one of those basins that looks like a coin drop. We never had to wait more than five minutes for the slides and we topped off our visit with a dip in the 18+ whirlpool. We didn't partake, but there was also a snack bar in the water park that was serving pizza, sandwiches, drinks and ice cream. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, with several points of contact ensuring that I was having a good time. I cannot understand why this property gets mixed reviews on this (other) sites... I would definitely return to this property again! more
