The Tiramasu was really good. The bread was nice and warm and fluffy. The chicken dish with cheese, peppers and mushrooms was inedible. The chicken had so much fake herbs on it that it was bland somehow. The wedding soup has no salt what-so-ever and was bland. Never going to order again unless I want the dessert. more

It was terrible. Bread was hard, salad was soggy, and everything was practically pressed into its packaging. I didn't even eat a quarter of it. What a waste of money! more

Salad Galore 3/19/2012

Love, love, love this place. Met a few of my friends and had lunch here during rush hour. I ord)ered the house salad and it was the best salad ever. You should also try the picnic salad. It is the best ever (it is enough for two) plus the breadsticks are to die for.\r \r This was my father's favorite restaurant so we would go at least once a month to eat. more

Rude Waitress 2/20/2012

My husband and I went to dinner at the Florentine last year around the time of my birthday. I had told my husband that this place was really good and that we should go together some time. When we finally sat down the waitress took our orders. When the food came out, the portion size was ridiculously small and we both just looked at each other. We decided instead of making a fuss we would just enjoy what was before us. Being that the portion was so small, my husband and I finished our dinner rather quickly. When the waitress came back to the table she asked me if we enjoyed our meal and I said with a smile, yes it was great. She told me she knew it because of the way we wolfed our food down! Can u believe it? We haven't been back since that day. I was totally mortified that she had the nerve to treat us this way. I pray that nobody else who goes in this establishment gets treated as poorly as we did. more

Our Birthday Feb.17,2012 2/18/2012

My husbands Birthday is Feb. 17th ,the same as mine! We decided to go out to eat at the Florentine and was very Happy with The Service from our Waitress Dotty! She was on the ball!!! Plus the Food was delicious! And the price was great for the large portions you receive! It was our first time eatting out there. Right when we were seated a staff member was leaning over tables and throwing her hair around which was long and not well groomed. I kept grossing out and wondering if her hair was going to get in everyones food! Then I see her running her hands through her hair while handeling silverware and rolling napkins! I told my husband "" I hope I dont get a hair rolled up in my Silveware or I'm out of here!"" I let the manager know my concern. Next thing I hear is a girls voice saying "" I can _ _ _ _ any man in this restaurant!"" (laughing). That really got my husbands Blood Pressure Up! This same girl proceeded to stand where we could see her and suck on a sucker and stair at me while Im trying to eat my dinner! She then says loudly to the other staff ""SOMEONE said something about my hair and now I have to wear it up!"" BOY I was steaming, that was so unproffessional!!!! I proceeded to let the Manager know so hopeful this young lady straightens up her act or she will give this resteraunt a bad name! The Manager did go right back and talked to her when we left. I recommend anyone to try their food because it is excellent, but I wont ever go back if she is still there:( more

BAD SECURITY 10/2/2010

I was there with my girlfriend and our daughter having dinner with family before we drove back down to florida the next day. After dinner we go outside to find our car had been broken into from the parking lot our stereo, cds and expensive shoes were stolen. When we made the staff aware of what had happened they told their security guard who talked very briefly with my girlfriend and then walked away and never came back for a report or anything. The staff didnt have anything to say about the incident at all. We were even parked in a lighted area. They do have security but of no use as when he was told that i was inside he said ""I Know"" and never came to find me. Avoid more

Authentic Italian 3/20/2010

I went here on a date, and after moving from an over lit table we settled in for a great dinner. I had the Chicken Paramigiana and my date had the Chicken Marsala.\r \r Both were excellent tasting but my date mentioned that she was expecting some pasta or rice with her Chicken Marsala. It was basically a chicken breast in a sauce with nothing to grab the sauce with once the chicken breast was consumed.\r \r I felt my Chicken Paramigiana was quite tastey, but the pasta sauce was not as good as the homemade pasta sauce my lovely date made me just a week earlier. Hers was the best I've ever had.\r \r Nevertheless, we enjoyed our date, liked the atmosphere, and felt we were eating a truly authentic Italian meal.\r \r I would definately go back!\r \r I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!\r \r Good eats,\r Redrover01 Pros: Freshly prepared, great taste, good portion sizes Cons: Location, dated interior, slow service, bad bread sticks more

Great chicken Parmesan 2/16/2008

When you walk into the Florentine, you immediately feel at home. The staff is very friendly. Makes you feel like they want you there let chicken Parmesan is some of the best in the city I truly like the Florentine for its food value and friendly staff they make their pasta their on-site their Italian dressing is their own recipe and is my favorite dressing Ever more

A true Gem! 2/5/2008

Tucked in to the Franklinton near west side lies the home of truly great Italian food. The Florentine has been a favorite of mine and my family for as long as I can remember. In fact, I cut my teeth on their breadsticks! Go safe and get Spaghetti, or sample any of the other wonderful items off their menu. A decent wine list compliments the meal and their desserts are well worth saving room for. If I could, I would give the Florentine 10 stars! Pros: Too many to list! Cons: Seating can sometimes go quick, but the service and food make up for any wait. more

An old time family favorite 5/3/2007

If you are looking for great Italian food and service. You gotta try Florentines.... It's perfect for every occasion, and a great atmosphere. Pros: excellent service and food more

Fantastic food! One place where I can eat something different everytime I go! 1/24/2007

Lighten up! If you are a suburban yutz who has to have all the pretentiousness of Bravo or even the Olive Garden, stay the heck away!!! Let the rest of us who know and enjoy good Italian food go there without your whines and attitudes. This place is great! The food is REAL folks! They make the stuff there, not in some commissary, frozen and trucked in. That RAGU comment I read is just all wrong!!! (Have you even been to Italy, Mr. Expert on Ragu?) The house salad is ""fine"". Yes, it is the one thing that could use a little more attention but other than that, it's about as comfortable as going to grandma's house. (But not like that time you went to grandmas and broke her lamp.) I've always had very good service and yes, the staff is a bit young. So what! They are usually light hearted about being so busy and if you're not one who suffers from an anger management problem you could probably enjoy the banter with them. So in my book, this is the best place to eat in Columbus. It's not fast food, it's good Italian-American fare that isn't all jazzed up with gimmick ingredients and flashy names just to get you to stuff it in your gut and empty your wallet. The prices are VERY reasonable and if you had half a brain you'd get in your car and drive there right now! (Unless it's now Sunday, because they are CLOSED!) If not, go wait in line at your Macaroni Grill for an hour just to be seated for that canned food (although that bread they have is killer, I hate to say). I'll be at Florentine's! Pros: Location, parking, price, quality food, can take the kids there and make a mess more

It was just ok. 10/4/2006

We waited a long time to get any water or drinks. After that the service was decent. I thought the food was good but nothing too exciting. I would rather go to Villa Nova. more

Relaxing family-style restaurant 8/18/2006

If you're looking for a relaxing, family-style Italian restaurant - try the Florentine. I went, reluctantly, with my family for my Mother's birthday. The atmosphere is very casual, but the old school charm is still evident. The food is good, homemade Italian-American. I had the eggplant baked in spaghetti and mushrooms, and it was fabulous. The sauce is rich and hearty, the pasta is fresh and flavorful. Everything that was served at our table was very good - veal parmesan, fettucini alfredo, spaghetti with meatballs. The salad plates were chilled and the house dressing is very good, but no tomatoes served on the salad. \r \r Most of the wait staff is young - i.e. inexperienced, but their attitude was fine. The location isn't the greatest, but adds to the overall ambience. We will definitely dine there again! more

Good old-fashioned Italian food! 1/5/2006

I have read some of the other reviews for Florentine, and I have to say, ""lighten up, people"". This is just an old-school, family owned Italian restaurant, the type that used to flourish in our city. It's not Olive Garden, Bravo or Bucca di Beppo folks, the spaghetti is homemade, the wine list is limited, the service is either Dot (good) or sassy (most of the rest of the wait staff). I feel like I'm going back in time 40 years every time I enter the front door...and am surprised that Dean and Frank aren't sitting at a table. Pros: Good spaghetti, Retro atmosphere, Lots of seating Cons: sassy staff, limited wine list more

Italian-American Food 7/11/2004

Those who compare this to Italian restaurants like G.Michael's, or LaTavola are missing the point. This is an Italian-American restaurant in the old tradition. Actually, the spaghetti is homemade, the sauce has a bit of spice, but is essentially fresh-tasting. The service is hit and miss, but some of the servers are wonderful. This is the place to go if you are feeding a crowd, and while the wine list isn't extensive, it is reasonably priced. Try not to be so stuffy when you go, and have fun. Pros: Great salad dressing, Good pasta, sauce, Ample parking more

Italian, Ragu Style 2/5/2004

I dined at the florentine on the adive of a co-worker and was stunned that they found this place good. I've come to the conclusion that people in Columbus mistake quantity for quality. If they pay more than $8 for a entree, it's bad food. You get what you pay for, and this place is proof. not only is the sauce smack of Ragu, but the service was very slow. Truly bad food! Don't go! Cons: , Slow service more

A Ture Experience 12/18/2002

The Florentine is a true classic. The building is beautiful, the food is excellent, the service wonderful. Granted it is not a chain yuppy resturant like Bucca Di Beppo, or G. Michaels, but the food and service is not to be compared with resturants like that. Their stuff is homade, not a frozen dinner wannabe like Bravo's. If you don't like class, and sophistication then don't go to the Florentine. Pros: Everthing, House salad dressing Cons: Very busy on weekends, limited parking more

not a 10 11/4/2002

Food was ok at best. This is certainly not an upscale restaurant. Its very old school spaghetti with possibly a home made sauce, in a very old building. The wine list is pretty much non existant and the food just isn't very good if you like to dine at fine restaurants. If you do decide to go lock up your car its not in a very good neighborhood. Pros: price Cons: run down, frozen food, no wine list more
