I love the wings at The Boat House in Conshohocken, but the service is horrible. I took my family there to eat in the dinning room of the restaurant about a year ago and they carded everyone to come inside. Then, we get to our table and there are kids everywhere. Now what is the point of carding people just to eat in the dinning room when you let children in anyway -- Seriously?
My boyfriend and I decided to try it again last night. There was no one carding as we walked in, so we walked right up to the bar and took a seat. It was a normal happy hour crowd, but not overly crowded. We looked over the menu and decided on an order of wings to share, soup for my boyfriend and salad for me. I asked the bar tender if they had a small side salad- I didn't want an entree. As he was walking away from me, he said we only have big salads. He wouldn't even offer to make a smaller side salad since it was not on the menu. My boyfriend and I decided not to even bother. We finished our drinks and went a few doors down where I enjoyed my wonderful side salad and wings. As we left the Boat House, we saw a bouncer at 6:30, in the evening mind you, carding people who just wanted to eat in the dinning room. The woman was definitly over 21 one and said she only wanted to eat dinner, she wasn't interested in ording a drink.
When I first move to Conshohocken, I heard a lot of really great things about The Boat House. I think they have a regular crowd, probably enough to keep them in business, and they don't care for making new regular customers. I guess it is just a special club that gets good service in there. I have never been to a restaurant where you have to show ID to get a meal. It seems ridiculous, especially since children are eating there anyway!
Pros: Great Wings
Cons: Awful Service
