I love the name and vibe of this local Athens eatery. Five Star has great southern dishes at reasonable prices. I eat here at least twice a month and am always fully satisfied! more

I love Five Star Day Café! Athens is the best place for amazing food at perfect prices, and Five Star Day is a great place to go! The food is amazing! The mac & cheese is as good (if not better) then g'ma makes, and their corn muffins are to die for! After discovering this place I insisted on taking some of my out of town friends when they came for a visit. As southerners we all approve! Yes, seating is limited, but there's optional outdoor seating. Or if the weather is fabulous, then get it to go, cross the street, and enjoy UGA's park. more

I love this place! 4/11/2006

I have just recently discovered Five Star Day and I can't get enough. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant- it feels like I am in my grandmother's kitchen. The food is delicious and served fairly quickly. My favorite thing is that they serve a different flavor of Kool-Aid every day! The prices are great, especially on a college budget- you can eat lunch for about $5-8. more

Great Soul food and atmosphere 4/8/2006

In a town with many chain restaunrants, finding this gem in downtown Athens makes for great Southern food. Students and townsfolk alike enjoy the comfort food here at this small restaurant, which makes up for its small size with hearty portions of soul food, with eclectic art decorating the walls. I come for the pot roast on rice and meatloaf with macaroni, not to mention the corn fritters. more

Our favorite in Athens 12/14/2005

Downtown Athens is a small town with many drinking holes but lack decent restaurants. Five Star Day Cafe is a standout and was our favorite restaurant when we were living in Athens. They serve simple southern style comfort food quick and reasonably priced. I personally like their meatlof. The restaurant is not very big and can get crowded very quickly during peak hours. more

Country Style Cooking 8/11/2005

Located right on the main street of downtown Athens, this restaurant is walk-in friendly with great great food. The meals consist of good southern style traditional cooking such as meat loaf and mashed potatoes. The setting is rich in Athen's history inside the small cafe. You can also dine on the outside tables at the restaurant as well. Friendly service and great food makes this restaurant one of my favorites of Athens. more
