Minneapolis Farmers Market the only place to shop for me! 2/26/2009

To anyone reading this, I strongly recommend a trip to the Minneapolis Farmers Market. I've learned so much from the growers and have enjoyed so many great fruits and vegetable. The spring time locally grown asparagus is the best I've ever eaten. The berries in June are so flavorful that I wait only them each year. On Saturday mornings the market has a 'Market Talk' series with chefs and growers teaching us how to prepare different vegetables, herbs and meats. Letting us customers sample it first hand plus take home the recipe. The variety in produce is fabulous and so are the prices. I just can't wait until it opens again for the season. My first trip will be for the plants I will buy for my little garden and my deck. I have found that the locally grown plants last all season long. I found out there are over 200 local growers that bring in their produce and its pick just hours before they get there. By the taste of the items I have purchased I have to agree, the freshness is really there. more

An Urban Neccessity! 3/20/2006

I LOVE the Farmers Market. I love the downtown version but this full scale one is even better. The variety is wonderful! I love bringing my kids there to pick out farm fresh products. A little known use for the farmers market? How about Wedding florist? Fond memories of my husband and I 8 years ago raiding the Farmers market on the morning of our wedding of every white and yellow flower they had! We had so many flowers we didn't know what to do with them all! We brought them to church and ourfriends prompty took them and kicked us out until it was time to dress. I think we spent $200 and our church was overflowing and gorgeous. For the worrier, not knowing exactly what you end up with could drive you nuts. For the spontaneous? Its an adventure and saves tons of cash! more

Little Gem 11/29/2005

If the Minneapolis Farmer's Market did not exist, I don't know where I would find good produce. Sure, the other local grocery stores carry "fresh" produce during summer months but nothing can compare to the deliciousness of the produce at the Minneapolis Farmer's Market. I recently discovered that it will be open through Christmas Eve this year so I will be sure to see what fresh goodies they have during the winter. I am always amazed at the local goods that I can find. Even though it can be a little hard to find, maybe just for the navigationally challenged, I think that it is worth the extra work! Plus, it is a fun, Saturday outing, much more exciting than a trip to Lund's or Rainbow! more

Giant Outdoor Market! 9/26/2005

What can you not find at the Minneapolis Farmers Market? During the late spring/summer/early fall months, there is everything a person could need at this wonderful outdoor fest. From the best local grown produce, to amazing homemade sausages, plants & flowers in every variety, cheeses, olives, juices, homemade and ethnic clothing & jewelry, rugs, handmade goods.... You name it, it can be found at the Minneapolis Farmers Market. In addition, they have a brat/corn/lemonade stand that makes the Farmers Market a great place to go shop, on the weekend and have lunch. It's a great place to visit to get a taste of what the outlaying areas can produce. more

Can't Imagine Summer Without It... 8/15/2005

Fresh produce, pretty flowers-what's not to love about the Minneapolis Farmers' Market. For me, it has always been a huge, colorful, crowded celebration of the 5 or so months in Minnesota that are not freezing cold, or brown and mucky. From my experience, the market transitions from mostly plants and flowers in the spring, to a full-on produce fest from midsummer to early fall. I recently discovered that the market is open weekends until the end of December. I have never gone past September-so I am interested to see what the Farmers' Market will have to offer later this year. more

Great food, flowers, and fun! 8/10/2005

I love going to the farmer's market and I wish I could get there more often! I used to go to the one downtown during the summer but since I no longer work downtown I really miss it! You can find so many great things - produce, gifts, flowers, and even furniture. I love buying from local people. You also know it is fresh since these are local dealers. When you shop at a regular grocery store - that produce may have traveled from another state or country. more

Farmer's Market = Great Experience 8/5/2005

Whenever I think of food markets, I think of the Food Market of Minneapolis. This market is ideal on Saturday and Sunday. It was one of the best places to get fresh produce, plants and flowers as well as visit other booths with clothes, soap and artwork. If I have a visitor from out of town, this is one of the places I think of to go to. It's great fun to shop, to eat, to browse or to just people watch. more

Minneapolis' Farmer's Market is great for produce! 7/29/2005

If you like good fresh produce for cheap, then go to Minneapolis' farmer's market! You can get so many types of fruit and veggies. Most of the fruit is grown out of state, but a lot of the veggies are grown here. They also have different booths of artwork, goods, food, soap, and more. You could go for lunch and look around at thigns for a couple hours. Great fun! more
