Anyone going there to sit around an talk and be ""seen"" is in the WRONG place. If you want to groove to good music, hang out, meet cool people, this is the spot for you. If you...

Could someone who owns this place explain to me why I just paid $36 dollars for 3 HALF-GLASS shots full of 3/4 water and 1/4 who knows what... and then had the bar-girl scold me f...

Not a great experience 7/15/2007

I had been meaning to go to Falucka for a while because of the music. We finally went on Friday and aside from the music everything else was pretty bad. After a little bit of expected door drama we went in and it was a weird mix of people which we didn't expect to see. It was way too crowded and there is no dance floor as such. The music was great but the service was not at all. The bartender was rude and put an extra $30 tip on my card without me being aware. I put down $5 on my $30 tab for 3 drinks and I just saw my statement and it is showing $65! If you have to go for the music, I say go to Le Souk instead but please do not use your card at the bar at either place and be prepared for a very crowded experience. more

TURKISH GIRL YASMINA!!! 6/5/2007

It is a very nice place overall.Especially if you like middle eastern music and house music, it is the place to be. When my friends and I went to visit Falucka almost a month ago, it was a sunday night and the place had the belly dancer. The belly dancer was overall ok but there was another dancer who had just jeans and a shirt was the bomb.. I hear that she goes there often and her name is called Yasmina and she is from Turkey.. I think she is one of the best belly dancer I have ever seen. Falucka should make her dance instead of the other belly dancer. My middle eastern boys and I have been visiting there since there even more often just hoping to see YASMINA one more time... Has anyone know where she works or if she is going to work in there at all? She is the queen of NYC dancers... If anybody knows, where else she is dancing please let me know. My friends and I ARE DYING TO FIND OUT:)) more

Sophisticated Night Spot! 3/20/2007

Fabulously Fun and Sophisticated!!! As an out of towner, I didn't know what to expect after my brief internet research for night spots. Wanting something like Fez in Philadelphia, Falucka exceeded my expectations! I was pleased with the atmosphere and music on a Thursday night. I dragged my reluctant friend along to Falucka, and she insisted it was closed because there was no sign out front, but the bouncer appeared and there was no cover charge. The people were friendly and fun and we were surprised to find such great seats in this cozy little club. We met people from all walks of life: hair stylist, designer, professor, a student & her boyfriend. The crowd ranged from ages of 25 to about 45. The male hairstylist bought both me and my collegue cranberry vodkas, even after I informed him that we were both married... We danced like crazy until about 3 am to a variety of pop music- the DJ mixed it to give a more Middle Eastern feel. We hated to leave, but we had to get up early for our conference in the morning. It was in a safe part of town, which can't be said for most of the Moroccan places... and I was able to quickly find a taxi back ot the financial district at that ""late"" hour. My friend admitted that even though it was a bit expensive, it was completely worth it- it reminded her of a recent trip to Egypt. No... I didn't even know the owner, but whomever he/she is, keep up the great job!!! Pros: Sophisticated people! Cozy atmosphere- not overly crowded! Music & Dancing!!! Mixed Drinks. more

New York would be better off without it 2/5/2007

This is the first time I've ever bothered to review something on Citysearch. I went to Falucka to meet up with some friends--there was a cocky bouncer and a $10 cover, and it turns out it wasn't worth it. From the bouncer to the coat-checker to the waitresses, this place was all attitude and no service. The terrible music was so loud that nobody could hear each other, and since there was no dancing going on, there was no point to the music anyway. After an hour, the manager informed my boyfriend that he would have to give up his seat for some party with a reserved table. What kind of place charges a cover just to kick you out of your seat? We left right afterwards and salvaged the night at a much cooler place with less pretense. Pros: I only wasted one night of my life there Cons: Bouncer, coat-checker, waitresses, manager, music, service, cover charge, ambience more

I hope Falucka goes out of business. Pros: I only wasted one night of my life there Cons: Bouncer, coat-checker, waitresses, manager, music, service, cover charge, ambience more

Used to be much better 1/9/2007

Not sure what happened, but this place used to be very happening. I think it just got too crowded, that it became uncomfortable. The music also used to be better, used to play more of a mix, but last time I was there they played way to much techno. It is trendy and a happening scene, but if you want a less crowded place, better service and more reasonable prices, do the research and find somewhere else. Cons: service more

Thumbs down 12/13/2006

No hookahs for consumers. Only friends of the owner. This is really not commercial; The drinks were OK but that's it. You want a booth? no group of 45 first. I felt really bad in this club. The owner was staring badly at us. Why? Because I am not your friend? Hey buddy, you own a club on bleecker... Calm down... You need consumers to pay your bills... Pros: , Cons: , more

Good Ol' Falucka 7/27/2006

I used to go there quite often. It tends to be overcrowded, the music is excellent, the people are not a good mix. The door is flexible. If they like you, you dont pay. If they dont have an opinion, you pay. If they dont like you, you are not getting in. Hookas arent as good as they used to be. The person who made them good quit. And YES there is different ways to prepare a hookah. Pros: music Cons: Overcrowded more

Tiny Middle East Haven! 2/18/2006

Went there with a bunch of friends on a Friday night, and the cover was 5/10. I normally don't pay, but this place is worth it. The hookahs were amazing (we got apple), and the drinks were stiff. The music was the best I've heard in NY in a while! Great place to go if you want to hang out with friends and have a few drinks. Pros: hookah, drinks Cons: cover charge more

Too cool for their own good 11/26/2005

Before you go, be forewarned: there is now a cover charge $5 to $10 depending on the hour. Also, unless you're prepared to pay for bottle service, you probably won't find a place to sit down. Oh, there's also a velvet rope out front with a bouncer. Why does a hookah bar need a bouncer? I think this place has forgotten they are on Bleeker Street -- This place pretends to be a primo Meatpacking District spot when really, they aren't. There are plenty of other places to spend your money. Pros: Ambience, Drinks Cons: Rude bouncers, No place to sit, Prices more
