Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

I had the chance to visit Farichild Gardens near Miami a couple of years ago. I was enthralled by the beauty of these gardens. Being from the north most of the flora was competely new to me. I could have spent longer there as I was taking time to read about each and every speciman. Even though they had been hit by hurricanes they seem to survive and grow up more beautiful than ever. I took a whole role of film amd shared it with my second graders in a large poster of mounted pictures. All pictures were numberd and I developed a worksheet so they could answer 7 questions about various things in the pictures and draw their own picture of their favorite plant. Since I entered with family as part of an annual pass I have no idea what the price to enter is, but I found it to be really beautiful. I was lucky enough to visit during a exhibit of blown glass by Chihuly that made it that much more interesting and beautiful, but even alone I think it would be a wonderful walking tour. If I lived there I would probably visit often and take the tour with my kids. Far better than walking a track. There are several small lakes around the tour and countless varieties of plants to see. There is a small cafe that is rather pricey, and a large gift shop also. If you like plants then this would probably be a great place to see. more
