Best

every time i come to portland i HAVE to make a trip to fabric depot! their selection is amazing, and the prices are so much better than at home!

Worst

One of the worst experiences of my life! I've been a customer here since they opened in the nineties. I have made many large wholesale and retail purchases...I left a small item...

DON'T order online from Fabric Depot! 12/31/2009

Bad: I ordered a sale item -- Gingher seam ripper -- online and got an e-mail confirmation from Fabric Depot. After a few days I got a phone call from them saying that they would not be sending it. I called and spoke to the manager who said that they were discontinuing the item and so they weren't sending it after confirming my order. They declined to honor my order and were cavalier about reversing themselves and did nothing to resolve the problem.. Improvements: Fabric Depot appears not only to be unreliable, but does not care whether they inconvenience customers.. Other: I live on an island and it is expensive to get to the mainland. I'd been there two days after the order was confirmed and so did not go to another fabric store to check out the year-end sales. My experience says DON'T order online from Fabric Depot; customer service seems to be at the bottom of their list.. more

Customer Service? Not so much 6/29/2008

Fabric Depot has lots of fabric. I'll give them that. But what they have in quantity, they truly lack in atmosphere and customer service. It's a dull, outdated warehouse. Lines to cut fabric are long and the cutting tables are typically understaffed. Employees are there to cut fabric or take your money. There is nothing friendly about thier staff. I had to return a broken purchase once and was met with great suspicion. I asked for some help in measuring a quilt top and was simply handed a measuring tape. And after spending hundreds of dollars there over several years, I asked for a $30 donation for my chld's school and was refused. I think I would rather pay a little bit more for fabric and get better treatment at a smaller, more charming fabric store with friendly customer service. more

Fabrics of Every Kind 1/15/2006

If it has anything to do with fabric, you can find it here. This is an absolutely huge store with plenty of free drive up parking. Luckily the salespeople are very good at helping you find what you need. Consider going here for quilt fabrics, home decorating fabrics as well as bridal fabrics. I bought some suede fabric here that was lined with fleece. Although it is 100% polyester, it feels like real suede. more

Yards and Yards of Store! 1/5/2006

This is the largest Fabric Store in the West. It fills in its entirety a former Fred Meyers building. The choices are endless...and so is the help. Every staff member there is a craftsperson themselves so they are well able to assist you and answer all your questions. Such things are especially important to someone like me...if I'm asked to sew something, the question is generally met with a blank stare followed by "won't staples do??" Fabric Depot also carries a wide range of yarns..and I do love to crochet and offers classes. Every summer, however is when I really love Fabric Depot. They have their annual sale where even some of their most expensive fabrics sell for just a buck a yard. Last year I bought 20 yards of denim ...isn't that what they make jeans out of?????? more

The Best Place to Find Fabric on the Eastside 12/28/2005

The variety of your fabric choices combined with a great price makes Fabric Depot the best fabric store I have found. They are a large warehouse style store, but if you are insistent you can find personal service. They have some great outdoor sales in the summer and offer everything one might need for someone who sews or crafts with fabric. more

Great variety, helpful staff 10/18/2005

Fabric Depot is a huge warehouse of a fabric store. They have everything from inexpensive every day fabrics to higher end bridal and ball gown materials. They have a great bridal department as well as home decorating fabrics. They also have a great remnants section and have sales frequently. The staff has always been very helpful, but unobtrusive. more
