Best everything!!!! 10/20/2008

Went to Delmonico?s the other day with my wife and the ambiance there was cozy and perfect. The staff was very attentive but gave us our space throughout the entire evening. We were never rushed or interrupted by any of the servers the entire night. We both ordered, for lack of a better description, the ?Chef?s special?; 5-courses all chosen by the chef and kept a mystery to us until the plate hits your table. My wife and I enjoyed every dish that was brought out to us?I should point out that my wife does not normally like salmon but still thoroughly enjoyed the salmon dish that was prepared for us. I should say from start to finish, quality of food and quality of the service this place gets 5-stars all around?.simply the best restaurant and dining experience I have ever had! Pros: ambience, food, service...all pros Cons: pretty pricey, but you know this going in. more

Unsatisfied 3/13/2008

I?ve always heard that Emeril?s restaurants were overpriced and served mediocre food at best and Delmonico certainly proved it. The bread that was served before the meal was only lukewarm and the butter was nearly frozen. I would at least expect the bread to be hot and have soft butter that we can actually cut with a knife. Our entrees were mediocre, but certainly not worth $180 for 4 entrees alone. I could have gotten a better piece of fish at Danny & Clyde?s restaurant and gas station. Our waiter was an intimidating French guy who kept bugging us by asking if everything was good. Let me explain, I don?t normally mind if a waiter asks us 3+ times if our food is good. However, we were all engaged in a conversation and he came over 3 times and would repeatedly ask us if our food was good in a loud and demanding voice. The third time he came over, he said ?it?s good? It?s good? It?s good?? until we responded with ?YES! It?s fine!? And then our conversation topic changed to ?I wish he would stop asking us that.? Overall, it was a disappointing experience. more

Waiting for Delmonico to Re-open 12/28/2005

Still waiting for my favorite restaurant to re-open Post K. Last visit there was simply remarkable. Had a chefs table dinner, with a different wine for each course couldn't have been better in any way. Service was impeccable. Maybe it was a slow night, but the chef seemed to be showing off his talents. We actually had to call a halt to the courses, couldn't eat one more bite - then the desserts came. Wow, probably the best overall meal of our lives. Even for the price ($150 per person including tax, tip, wine) I couldn't recommend more. Try it when they come back to life next year. Pros: Food, food, food, service, wine more

New Orleans Pinnacle 6/10/2005

My wife and I were recently in our most beloved New Orleans and made our first visit to Delmonico. From the moment we arrived we were treated like guests of honor. Our waitstaff lead by Jeff was textbook perfect,This guy knows his stuff. The food was amazing,Duck Salad was phenomenal, my wife is a major Duck fan and was blown away by the Hickory Roasted Duck.My Veal Marcelle was superb,as were the sides of garlic mashed potatoes, and Brie Mac and Cheese. The Baked Alaska we shared for dessert was the single finest dessert we have ever tasted. We were so impressed we returned for lunch and dinner the next day.We vow to eat here every meal of our next stay. Pros: Finest food in Nola , Superb waitstaff, Romantic Atmosphere more

Dining at Delmonico's is an experience in and of itself. The ambiance is enchanting, the wine collection is amazing. We arrived early and grabbed a table in the lounge. We smoked our Djarum's and enjoyed glass after glass of wine while we listened to the live jazz and waited for our table. Two hours later, two bottles of wine later, we were nearly crying as we walked out the door. It wasn't the tab that made us weepy; it was the fact that we didn't want ""it"" to end. We were so incredibly full, and yet we still wanted more. Breathtaking. Emeril, you treated us well. As an aside- if you're ever in New Orlins and you want to eat at Delmonico's and they don't have an open reservation- tell them you're willing to eat in the bathroom. Yes, even they are amazing. Pros: Customer Service, Presentation, Delivery more

What A DISSAPOINTMENT! 3/13/2005

With it's reputation, we expected to have a nice dinner, nothing mind blowing, with good service...We had a 9pm reservation and were seated at 9:30. We were dressed appropriately but seated in the back room (must go through the kitchen). Even though we had soup and an appetizer,it took 90 minutes to get our entrees. That's too long. The food was just OK, not good. People at the next table were also complaining about the wait. It felt like we were seated in the ""trainee dining room"", eveything was off. We mentioned this to the dining captain who apologized and comped our entire bill. We will never go to an Emeril's establishment. Cons: food, service more

Wish we would have skipped Delmonico 9/12/2004

I found this place to be less than par. WAY overpriced for what you get, I could have made the same meal at home for 1/8 of the price, I know, I know, you're paying for the name mostly, but my waiters seemed to try and intimidate me, almost like I shouldn't be there. I was dressed nice, we were seated in the upstairs main dining room on the St. Charles St. side, nice ambiance, but the paint was peeling on the walls and dinner for 2 at $190 just wasn't not worth it at all in our book. Again, wish we had skipped this place and went back to K-Paul's for a second visit. Pros: Ride on Streetcar, Fast seating w/reserv Cons: , Servers were snooty more

Disappointed 6/28/2004

Emeril's recipes are always our favorites so we had to try Delmonicos. The crab cake only had flake crab meat, (no lump crab meat.) The barbeque shrimp was delicious. The fish special that came with shrimp risotto, the risotto was fabulous but the fish left a bit to be desired. The Grilled Fish of the day with Crabmeat-Shrimp Salpicon. The fish and sauce were very tasty but there was not a single piece of shrimp or crab in the Salpicon. The caramelized sugar on the creme brulee was black and tasted burned! Unlike the entree, that was taken off the bill. (We'd prefer to pay and get a good meal.) I'd suggest Emeril pay closer attention to the details because the qualities we love so much about Emeril's recipes were not part of our experience at Delmonicos. Pros: service, wine list Cons: , inconsistent cooking, value for quality more

The Best of Chef E's Restaurants 6/11/2004

Delmonico surpasses all the other restaurants owned by Chef Emeril by far. Excellent service, outstanding ""new"" New Orleans cuisine, amazing atmosphere (elegant, but not snooty), and a great view of historic St. Charles Avenue. To eat at Delmonico is to consume New Orleans. Pros: Excellent service, Beautiful decorum, Outstanding cuisine Cons: It's not open 24/7 more

THE BEST! 1/20/2004

I took my boyfriend to Delmonico for his birthday while we were in NO on vacation and it was quite simply the BEST meal we had ever eaten! Beautiful restaurant, we we seated in a quiet little room upstairs by the wine celler. Our server was very attentive and every course we tried, was absolutely perfect. VERY Highly recommended!! Pros: Romantic, Great Service, Street Car Line more

Don't Miss This One! 12/29/2003

We ate here on the Saturday after Christmas, and the meal made the trip. This was def. the best of the best. The atmosphere is very holiday and romantic, and although there were families there, this is really a place for couples or smaller parties. The Veal Marcelle was out of this world as was the Cucumber Bisque with Salmon, specially ordered from the tasting menu. We received great service, but you could tell there was a lot of running around and the bigger party next to us was a little disappointed. The Bananas Foster was excellent, but because of the full house, they prepared it away from our table. Pros: Romantic, On Trolley Line, Valet Parking more

Fried everything! 9/17/2003

I was quite disappointed by Emeril's restaurant. Most of the dishes are fried, including the vegetables. Not really what I had imagined. On the other hand, the wine list was extensive and excellent. Pros: Great wine list, Service, Large room for groups Cons: Fried food more

Another Notch 8/25/2003

Who knew, a celebrity chef who not only really cooks on TV, but really can cook. Emeril's exceeded expectations in every way. I know it's cheesy, but I've got to say it: Bam! Pros: Great Food, Excellent Service Cons: Emeril wasn't there. more

Excellent 8/24/2003

Pricey, but well worth it. I highly recommend this experience when in New Orleans. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Come hungry and don't expect anything low cal, or low fat. Impecable service. Do this. more

Do not look like a tourist! 5/24/2003

I've heard the way to distinguish locals from 'tourists' in a N.O. restaurant, is that locals wear jackets. Well, I chose to not pack one for the hot/humid forecast and because we were not planning to dine at one of the stuffier establishments (any Brennan's/Gallatoire's/Arnaud's). Theres 3 separate DRs. (1) Main DR adjacent to the cozy piano bar, (2) Upstairs DR, and (3) loud 'sunroom' for the tourists, accessible only via the kitchen. I was dressed professionally (though sans jacket), and we were seated in #3 initially, but requested to be moved because of a shaky table. We later heard that four couples had moved from that same table that day. What the @#$!?! Reseated upstairs, it was a different experience. Food, service are top-notch. FYI. Emeril's namesake restaurant provides a more modern menu, but was booked due to numerous Tulane/Loyola graduation dinners, (as was Commander's Palace). So reserve early! Pros: Food, Service Cons: Rear DR for dinner more

Treated like a King or Queen 2/6/2003

The service was prompt and outstanding! The food even overshadowed the service. By far the best I've ever eaten. A must to try. One draw back...it's not a establishment for children(McDonald's is better suited for them). If children must attend, then a roll of duct tape is a necessary. more

Incredible edibles 12/5/2002

The menu and wine list remind me of the ""A"" World Book Encyclopedia. They are that extensive. The service was without comparison, the wine was incredible and the Chef's Menu was fabulous. I can't wait to return! Pros: service, atmosphere, menus more

Romantic getaway with plenty of attendan 8/1/2002

Emeril Lagasse creates the perfect setting with such a knowledgeable and accommodating staff. His food is oustanding. more

Simply, The Best 7/12/2002

If you want to experience the best N.O. has to offer, go to Delmonico, and let the staff there guide you through the best meal you may ever have. We tried the chef's tasting menu paired with the wine and it was truly amazing. Every course was complex and intense, and it was perfectly paired to a wine. The service team was flawless. I wish I knew her name to compliment her. Just go, turn yourself over to their care, and you will be amazed! Pros: service, ambiance, food more

Fabulous! 5/27/2002

My husband and I were there on May 24th. THe food was wonderful. If you order any of their red meat, be sure to ask for the smokey bordalaise sauce. it was like a smoked butter sauce that just melts in your mouth with the meat. I had the veal stuffed with crabmeat, also outstanding! Dessert was scrupmtious! Service was very attentive and friendly. I loves the grasswalpaper on the walls and he suede curtains, very soft, very cosy for a fine meal. Pros: Valet parking, Nice bar area more
