Elliott's has been my hardware store heaven for over 35 years. Unbelievable customer service. Can't imagine any big chain coming close to this service.

Bad customer service 5/4/2012

Over-Priced. 247 dollars to replace a connection hose to the hot water heater. Don't get me wrong, the tech gave me a price upfront, and stated it would take 30 mins to an hour to do the work. He was done in 10 minutes and still charged me 247.00. I just see how you expect to get repeat business with outrageous prices like that. Will never use them again. more

Owner 7/9/2010

Been trading with Elliott's since the 70's and yet to have a bad experience. Always try to catch the greeter with something he/she hasn't heard of. Finally got them with asking were could I find a "FID?" It is a real tool. They didn't have one outside a package with the item it is used with.\r But if you are looking for something and they don't have it; either nobody makes it or you don't really need it. LeeD more

Great location and wonderful staff. If you need Rakes or law equipment such as hoses and asseccries they will help you in all your needs. If you need cabinet hinges or drawer pulls come see their selection. more

elliot's hardware is a good example of Southern hospitality 9/29/2009

I for one would love to see W; you folks can't seriously be Texans, or even Southerners, as shown by your rudeness and lack of gracious hospitality. I am proud of Texas, proud to be an American, and proud that W never felt he had to apologize for our freedom. more

Elliotts Hardware is the taj-ma-hall of hardware. 8/12/2009

If you like hardware stores, This is the "Greatest". Elliotts has anything and everything you could ever want. If they don't have it in stock they can get it. You need to go to Elliots at least once in your life. more

ALWAYS my first hardware source 6/20/2009

Anyone else recall the small town Mercantile/Hardware store? Looking for or need to replace the most obscure bolt or fastener, vintage furniture hardware, cleaning product your Grandmother used, or a kid tough item from Radio Flyer, you may only find it here. You will certainly find items available at home imp. stores, but if you need information on how to use, install, custom fit or otherwise without hiring a professional for your small job; there's a staff member who can actually HELP you. Although on occasion the staff are assisting many and may be brief, if you require more information and are patient, my experience is that you will get the most informative service in each department that is available anywhere in a metropolitan area. I've NEVER been ignored, condesended to, or feared the associate might drool before coming up with not particulary assuring information as I find is more common than acceptable. The Maple Ave. location has the most expansive selection in my opinion. The BEST fresh, flavored bulk whole bean coffee any where! Pros: Unique problem, obscure piece of hardware? Come here 1st Cons: Slightly higher prices-worth it for the knowledgable service more

Bush As Greeter 2/14/2009

Sam S. is concerned about possibility of GWB as greeter. Is there a risk of that? How can we be protected from this danger? Would he bomb our house if we said something he consider evil? more

Sam 2/5/2009

I just LOVE Elliot's Hardware but if I ever see George W Bush as the greeter, I will turn around and never go to Elliot's again. If I were to enter the store, I would most likely grab the biggest hammer in the store and beat the living daylights out of that War Criminal. more

Best Hardware Store in the area 8/29/2008

If you want a Real Hardware Store, look no further than Elliot?s. If you only need a "home improvement" store, you can go to Lowes or Home Depot. The difference is that a real hardware store carries a wide assortment of hardware and has knowledgeable people who really know hardware. Here is an experience I had recently... Went to Home Depot in need of a strange looking bolt which I needed replaced with one which was 1/2 inch longer. Three guys at Home Depot each shook their heads. They had no idea what kind of bolt it was. One said it must be custom made. Then when I was about to leave, another one suggested going to a real hardware store. ?Isn?t THIS a hardware store?? I asked. ?No,? he replied, ?Home Depot is a home improvement store, not a hardware store.? So I went to Elliot?s. A guy at the front of the store directed me to the isle where bolts were located. The guy in that isle took one look at what I had and said, ?Oh, a shoulder bolt...what size do you need?? Then he pulled open a drawer loaded with them in all sizes you could imagine. Now you know the difference between a Home Improvement store and a Real Hardware Store! Pros: This is a REAL hardware store, with lots of hardware and people who know the business Cons: Items tend to be a bit more expensive than Lowe's or HD, but the service is outstanding! more

Goota tell Ya 7/27/2008

This store has a history of having a variety of items not available on shelf. Many times I have gone to this place looking for an item but it was out of stock. I spoke with the store's manager about the issue and he was as very rude and arrogant. Quite frankly...he turned red in the face and appeared very peeved. Whats up with that? No need to get into the details other than just another hack who works in a public position that doesn't appear to know how to interact with customers with respect. Hmph... Surely there are quality professionals that are much more qualified to work with patrons and paying customers. He even showed disrepect for his hard working staff...Paying customers aren't interested in an ego tripp'in want-a-be boss man. Who hired this hack? Somebody's fishin' buddy? Buyers also need to know that the pricers tend to markup and over price most items...Not good for an economy that is struggling. Other than that, the store has quite a potential for suppling items hard to find elsewhere. That is, if the item is AVAILABLE.... My suggestion is, if you can buy what you're looking for elsewhere then that is what you should do. It's likely to cost less. Good luck shoppers... more

Not just tools 11/29/2005

I normally hate hardware stores but I like going to Elliotts Hardware. They have more than just tools and at this time of year they have a lot of christmas stuff. I bought a toaster and a pair of gardening shoes there last time I was there. They are like the old hardware stores that carried tools for men and lots of other gift and homeware for woman. They have Lodge cast iron skillets for a good deal. The staff is great and always very nice. more

Small home town Hardware store 11/22/2005

Elliot's Hardware is one of the small hometown hardware shops of the past. They have been around forever and you can tell from how they treat their customers. They have more than hardware. They have a selection of home appliances and some gift ware. It is a nice place to browse and reminds me of the old days when the hardware store was little and not a huge cold warehouse. The staff is very very friendly and helpful. The prices are average and competitive with more hardware stores. more

Nice general hardware store 11/21/2005

Good assortments of parts and tools for most ordinary home repair jobs. This place isn't exactly a Home Depot, but the feel of the store is closer to a large mom-and-pop place. People greeted me at the door. If the item you need is carried at Elliots, they will have a nice selection of alternatives. But not everything related to tools will be in this shop and you may need to go to Home Depot after all; ie tiling supplies. Raw materials seem more scarce when compared with Home Depot, which has shelves upon shelves of wood and piping. PROS: Nice atmosphere CONS: Not as thorough an inventory as Home Depot more

Again a hardware store that understands customer service 11/2/2005

This is another great hardware store I still go to on occassion. They have some of the best customer service I have ever encountered. I recenetly went to their store in search of a grinder attachment for my drill. I explained exactly what I was looking to do, and in a moment the associate found me a grinding pad that was made specifically for my brand of drill(Craftsman). When I tried it out it worked like a charm. It's great that there are still some stores that provide knowledgeable staff members. more

Husband LOVES this place 7/12/2005

My husband is fascinated with tools, like most men. This store has an AMAZING selection of everything from paint supplies to regular tools for the home or projects. They have incredible prices and even a coffee bar! They have a computer color matching center to match any color for your household paint. This place is very decent sized and they have another location in Plano. It is sure to be your favorite local hardware store. Excellent customer service as well. more
