I have been going to el Toro Taco since 1985, there is not a friendlier place with better Mexican food around. Bring your own cooler with your own beer or wine. Order the Bean dip...

They were rich and very succulent, quite a treat as this is something one cannot eat everyday unless your desire is to blow up like a balloon. more

I have never written a review before but felt I had to let people know about this restaurant. We ate there for the first time because the place was recommended to us by a friend. The salsa was very bland. There were four of us in our party and everyone said the food was not very good and very bland. We ordered our food and waited for at least 45 minutes for our for it to be brought to the table. One person ordered Fajitas but was not given tortillas with his food and had to ask the waiter for them. Not a good experience at all more

This place is NOT authentic Mexican food. There are tons of places in South Florida, some even around the corner from this establishment, that serve authentic Mexican food for half the price. I was at el Toro Taco today and had quite a few complaints. First of all, I asked for an extra plate for my toddlers to share their meal....I didn't get it. I also asked for another set of silverware...I didn't get it. I ordered their mole chicken. I have had authentic mole chicken before. The kind where the chicken has cooked in the sauce for the whole morning. The mole chicken I had here was shredded boiled chicken breast with mole sauce poured over it. My father had the enchiladas and he said the sauce tasted like it came out of a can. The rice was NASTY. It was the kind that has been cooked too long and then they add oil or who knows what to it to keep it from clumping together. If you are in South Florida, especially in Homestead or Florida City, steer clear of this place for true Mexican food. more

Stinky Mexicans 9/19/2010

This restaurant is filled with racism. I went there because the outside was pretty, but don't let that fool you. The inside smells and has old rusty furniture. more

This place reminds me of that relationship you had in college where you kept breaking up and getting back together with the same girl.\r \r The food is above average tex-mex variety. The Taco Rancheros are my favorite and to die for. The guacamole is freshly made and delicious. If they run out (like a complaint below) its because they don't use frozen, and yes we have to wait for avocados to ripen before we eat them. I'm never bothered by a place that cooks fresh and run's out, because that is proof that they indeed cook fresh. \r \r As for the breakups. . . They clearly do not have sufficient floor staff. the waiters take too long to take drink orders, meal orders, and to bring refills. They are very nice, but that doesn't make up for it. The owner serves as receptionist, server, bus boy, bartender and cashier. That just doesn't work. \r \r I recommend you try it, but do so knowing that you may be frustrated. more

this was the worst Mexican food we have ever had. I finally ordered Tamales and they had obviously been. Frozen a long tome. Dried out, swimming in water. My husbands chicken was dried out and flovorless. Daughters taco mostly lettuce.I spoke with the manager/owner, he told me no one else ever complained and I was obviously wrong. No offer for a substitute item. All of thisinsult after I ordered 1 beef item and only after the order had been in 15 minutes did they tell me that they were out of it. I ordered another item more

We arrived at about 4:30 pm, it was quiet, clean and plenty of table to chooce from. A server motioned for us to come in and sit where we would like. The server gave us ample time to review the menu. I can see where some people might not like the amount of time she took to return and take our order. My husband order the chicken chimi. and I ordered the chilli relleno. It was all very tasty. The guacamole was very fresh and tasted great!. The bean dip was hot, creamy and delicious. We washed it down with the bucket of soda they bring to the table...just enough for the amount of food. They serve a nice portion everything was piping hot!. Our server was very nice, very formal. Great prices, good food and pretty good service. We had a very nice time, very relaxing dinner. more

Best chips and salsa I've ever had - both are homemade. I had the 'zopes' which were just okay. I would go back to try again, perhaps the 'zopes' aren't their strong suit. more
