Editorial review from Citysearch 8/23/2012

This place is AWFUL. I am so over the new owners and the number of pieces that i have spent time and money on that they continually SCREW UP. They cannot take a speck of responsibility for their mistakes and I have seen them be rude with customers every single time I am in there. They are nice to their faces (sometimes) and then talk crap about them as soon as they leave. The mother thinks she is perfect and everything she does is perfect, which is far from the truth. and the daughter is downright NASTY. She is rude and snotty and sticks her nose up at every single person who walks in the door. Its funny how all these things that are happening to my pieces never happened with the previous owners, and my technique has never changed, and suddenly everything is my fault. Get over yourselves and admit that YOU ARE WRONG. I cant wait until someone else buys this store. Maybe then I can start painting there again. Until then, I will make the drive to portland, anywhere has to be better than this god awful place. more

I'm disappointed in the new ownership 4/24/2012

I'm disappointed in the new ownership who started there somewhere around the end of March, 2012. We loved coming to the old store previously, and spent a lot of time, money, and heart here. But a recent exchange (or lack of exchange) with the new ownership on another site has left me cold. The new owner recently posted a complaint about ""paint waste"" with photos on FB to show what they mean when they say people are wasting paint. They expressed how paint waste makes them ""want to cry,"" and how similar trays would be fined in the future. One photo had a clear misuse of paint, no doubt. Overflowing with one paint in multiple containers. But the other two photos showed nothing short of what I've seen at many other painting places - small amounts of multiple colors left behind in the trays. I expressed concern in a comment over the idea of being fined for such a thing, as there didn't seem to be a lot wrong in the second and third photo. Another woman agreed in a comment and mentioned that the previous owners would not have complained about such a thing. I mentioned that I was there once when the old owner showed me ""paint waste"" and it was a tray that was full of one color that the kid had left behind, but it was nothing like what's in the photos. I went back today to see if they had responded to us. Instead, I found that we were deleted from the post. That simple. We didn't use bad language, or say anything derogatory. We simply disagreed, and we were removed, presumably to keep a positive light on their page. To me, while a very small incident and not even in-store, is still disrespectful censorship for no reason other than to show their best face. They could have responded with further explanation, perhaps explaining something not obvious in the photos. But they chose to delete us instead. So I won't be back. There are so many other places to paint. But I'm sorry this is what has become of the store. more

Went shopping to Dunedin to cute little shops like Darling Memories,Amanda Austin and Rose Garden. Everyone in these shope were nice and welcoming. I wanted to end my shopping experience with a nice cup of Java. \r Whe I walked to Cappucino's Bakery...I saw a couple of customers and once person working behind the counter so I decided to sit and but my bags down. When I sat on the counter...the lady working there didn't aknowledge me but I figure she was alone so I didn't take it personally. Since I really was craving my cup of Java I decided to patiently wait. After taking the order from customers she went to the back and dissapeared for 20 minutes. \r At this point I really needed to go to the bathroom. When she came of to serve the people I asked if she can buzz me to the bathroom and she ignored me. I asked again and she SHOUTED at me and I saw a mean lady looking at me. She yelled""don't you see that I'm working alone here...if you need a public bathroom there's one around the corner"". I metioned to her that I was a potential customer and I have been patient by waiting 20 minutes and she didn't have to yell at me and send me to a public bathroom. I've had my bags here and that she shouldn't abuse me for no reason. \r After that...she yelled at me again and told me that I should leave her shop. SHe mentioned that she was the owne and I was shocked and couldn't believe that she was being so cruel to me for no apparent reason. She basically was taking out her job or personal frustrations on me. I was really shocked and like any women with some integrity I defended my case....and tol her that she was very cruel and bitter and that this is no way to treat a customer who has been patiently waiting. She then did the ultimate...she called the cops so they can escort me for no reason. Since it was so unfair...I figured I would wait and explain my side of the story to the cops...that I was basically waiting 20 minutes for a cup of Java and to use the bathroom and this lady was just cruel with me for no apparent cause...just being abusive towards me from her personal frustrations. \r I decided to leaven and not let her ruin the wonderful experience I had with other merchant owners in the area. I saw her as being cruel, catty and bitter and left without take in it personally. \r I have travelle all over the world and come from a family of restaurant owners and I ive that the owner of Cappuccino's Bakery a 0 out of 10 rating for cruelty, abuse, and and hateful energy. Have a spirit lady...it's Xmas. She is a lady Scroodge.\r If you are visiting Dunedin...stay away if you are happy, attractive and fairly young because this witch will hate on you and give you ill treatment. She represents the haters of the world who hate the happy, sexy, beautiful and cheerful young women. STAY AWAY from the abuse. Oh by the way I saw she did the same to a customer on a Yahoo Travel Review....this MErchant will give Dunedin a bad name.\r more

Would have liked to go here 8/12/2010

So bummed! Took my granddaughter during posted hours (posted on website and door of business) and no one there! So we did not even get to try the store out. I will call the store tomorrow to ask what happened, but not sure if I'm willing to attempt it again, and sadly, my daughter was thinking of using this place for a birthday party for my granddaughter, but I don't think that's going to happen, either. more

Affordable/FUN & Relaxing family place! 8/6/2008

AFFORDABLE! I have been to a few other mall ceramic shops and they do not compare to the service, and knowledge of the owners/staff and E. G. & Fire. Several years ago I noticed this place while on a walk downtown Vancouver. There is such a variety of greenware to choose from. My daughter loves to go. When the pieces have been fired and we go to pick them up she is so proud of her creations. Many have made it to the china cabinet for display. If you have never tried this before and are ner vous about it - don't be, the staff is willing to offer advice and helpful hints on color, technique and so on. Most likely you will spend less money here than taking the family to a movie. An opportunity to see what they are interested in and bring out their artistic side. Pros: Variety, service - and very relaxing Cons: They fire the pieces over the weekend, so you don't take it home right away more

Fun for everyone 5/6/2006

I love going there and painting basically whatever I want. They have great ideas and lots to choose from. They are so inviting and encouraging. I HIGHLY Recommend them. Pros: Quiet, Fun, Relaxing Cons: Closed on Sundays, Closed on Mondays more

Planning an Event 11/9/2005

As a resident assistant at my university, I was determined to plan unique and fun events for my residents. I remembered RA's from the year before taking students to Earth, Glaze and Fire, loved it and have been 2 other times since. Now, it was my turn to take my residents to this great place. The close knit, friendly, family staff is personable and helpful. Unlike most places, they do not have a $9-$10 sitting fee. The pottery pieces are typical, but the atmosphere makes it unique. Whether you're an RA, parent, college student or kid, treat yourself to this great place!! Pros: Staff, Price, Selection more

Relaxing Family Experience - Fathers Day Outing 6/19/2005

Our family enjoyed a wonderful visit to this store, the atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. Deanne helped our kids with color suggestions and encouraged them with thier projects. We will return to finish our ceramic items and I recommend this store for anyone looking for a fun place to be creative and relax. The prices are very reasonable and the glaze is self serve, (some places give you a set amount and then you have to pay for more) The store has 2 resident cats to add to the ambiance. The Ice Cream Store next door is a must for our next visit. Pros: Helpful staff, Cats - Love em, Ice Cream next door!! more

Above the Rest 1/8/2005

As a mother of two young children I've visited several ""paint your pottery"" places around the area and I must say that this one is the best! The prices are slightly lower then most stores, the atmosphere is more cozy, the staff is warm and you can't beat the two resident cats. Next trip we are going to try the ice cream parlor next door when we finish our works of art. Pros: inexpensive, relaxed, cozy Cons: , no debit more

relaxing and fun 1/11/2003

WOW! What a wonderful, fun, relaxing experience. A group of friends and I (all mothers of young children) took a Saturday afternoon to go and paint and just relax together. I was very impressed with the service, the prices, the relaxed atmosphere and the choices of pieces to paint. Our group spent a long time there and took up a lot of space yet we never felt rushed or like we were in the way. We will DEFINITELY be returning! Pros: inexpensive, relaxed attitude, helpful staff Cons: not great parking, more variety more
