Cool and Closed :( 5/30/2011

Oh man! I can’t believe that this place closed down! I’d been wanting to stop by again for a few months because I had a pretty good time the last time I was here, and now they’re closed. I’m not a huge sports fan, but a lot of my friends are, and since we all work in the area we’d often head over to the Zone after work to pal around, eat a little, drink a lot and catch up. I would never have expected a Times Square sports themed restaurant to be a quiet and cozy as it was, and I’m actually a little bummed that it’s gone. They had a pretty good beer selection, and the bartender was generally good with keeping the drinks flowing. The food was okay--nothing that surpassed pub food, and the staff always seemed more interested in each other than in the customers, but that kind of added to the appeal for me. We were never rushed out, and even though we’d sometimes get loud we were never asked to quiet down. The arcade part was pretty cool too, and it was fun to play some of the older video games. This was a good hang out spot, I’m gonna miss it. more

AWESOME! 5/4/2010

I took my 2 kids there and boy oh boy did I (not they) had a blast! lol I went during the NCAA Tourney and the place was a madhouse filled w/ corporate & sports crazed fans! Although it was a melting pot of different individuals & races, we all shared a common bond -beer, food & sports! Unlike me, my kids were quiet at first but as they got comfortable w/ their surroundings -it felt like Disneyland with games, arcades, flat-screens and more flat-screens...ok, OK, OK...more like an adult Disneyland! \r \r All-in-all, we had a great time...the kids want me to bring them back again. Although it is a long drive for me, I wouldn't mind going back again...next time, I'll hire me a babysitter and head out with the fellas -they'll love this place! Pros: Adult-Disneyland Cons: Food is suspect more

Got Ripped Off 11/14/2008

Went with a group from my office to have drinks at the upstairs bar. We were there probably 3 hours, drinking and eating appetizers. The service was decent, drinks came fast, good football game on, etc. There was 8 of us, at most, there at one time. When we got the tab, we put it on one credit card, it was $646, we tipped the bartender $125 on the card, and another $20 in cash. She took this, and never told us that we had already been charged 18% gratuity on the check. So she got a total of $236 for a tip. We should have known to look, being a large group - but how rude and tacky could a place be?! \r My company just moved onto the block from 57th St, and we go out a lot as big groups and for corporate events. Needless to say we won't be going there again. Pros: Lots of TV's, good for sports fans. Cons: Tourist Trap. Add Gratuity to bills and don't tell people. Stairs. more

Let the games begin!!! 8/4/2008

ULTIMATE MAN'S-MAN SPORTS BAR! Great place for plain and simple GRUB. The food isn't fantastic, but whatcha expect? Make sure to checkout the reclining chairs available to complete your experience. Ahh, the man chair! The staff is really friendly and will do everything to help your sports senses go on overload. Let the games begin!!! more

good food and atmosphere 8/13/2007

I was surprised at the quality of food in this place. Everything I had was excellent. One of the best burgers I can remember. Friendly and attentive staff. Not pricy either which was a surprise for the location. If you are looking for a burger joint while in NYC and to catch a game, this is the place. more

ESPN Zone Waste of Money 7/18/2007

This place was a joke. The staff was rude. The games were expensive. There really weren't that many games. The games were outdated. It was an absolute rip off. If you must go to one of these stupid places, go to Dave and Busters. \r \r Of course, save yourself the headaches and skip Times Square all together. Think about it, when it comes right down to it, all it is is a collection of stores from any generic mall next to overpriced theatre productions. Pros: neat layout and design Cons: high prices, broken games, rude service more

Fun & quality Times Square option! 5/5/2007

Had a great time here recently - this is a fun, good quality, mid-priced sports-themed option in Times Square. The variety of seating areas & sports broadcasts insure that you can view whatever sports event, if any, that you'd like, or at least be able to check the score every once in a while. The food was awesome - we shared an appetizer of sliders (our waiter recommended & brought it w/ bbq sauce), & I had the salmon BLT; all was delicious. We finished off w/ the amazing & decadently gooey warm cookie sundae. Our waiter was helpful w/ any questions we had about the menu & gave us great recommendations. After our meal, we enjoyed some fun at the game room & dropped by the store for a couple gifts. It was a nice afternoon of theme -restaurant fun!\r Pros: FOOD, sports viewing, various rooms, location Cons: A bit loud in certain areas more

GREAT PLACE - GREAT FOOD 4/11/2007

Great place for sports...and the food was awsome too. We where a large group our food was hot and promptly served and the waiter very nice and attentive to all our requests. They have the biggest beer mugs ever, my husband was in heaven, LOL...On the third floor there is an arcade great for kids and adults. We had a great time here, we will definately be BACK. more

Sports Fantics this is the place! 1/16/2007

Well, I'm a girl and I thought this place was awesome! You can watch any kind of sports and see scores on all of their big screens even in the bathroom. If you want to meet a guy this is the place. The food was okay a little pricey, but hey your in New York City! Pros: Service was great, Lively more

OK food 12/1/2006

This restaurant is definitely not one of my favorites. I'm not much of a sports fan so that might be the reason. It's a very touristy place. The food isn't that great, however, if you like to watch sports on TV while eating and going to the bathroom, this might be the place for you. Pros: TV's Cons: food more

One of the BEST sports bars in NYC 11/1/2006

This is by far one of the BEST sports bars in the city.. It has 2 levels of bars and a HUGE game room on the 3rd floor.. Not to mention its in TIMES SQUARE..!! GREAT TIME..! more

See the tourists and enjoy the big screens 10/18/2006

Every sports fan should go at least once, though don't expect to become a regular. The location is obviously pricey and touristy, but, for the diehard sportsfan, the atmosphere makes up for it. You probably will not find a place with more tv surface area in town. more

good place 9/14/2006

good food, nice people, nice place, the video games are a little outdated and the wait for food is a bit long but worth it solid B- Pros: Staff, food Cons: outdated video games long wait more

In The Zone 10/22/2005

They're trying too hard here to make it a club when the restaurant can be practically empty and yet they require ""VIP seating"" to sit in advance. The snotty attitude is aggravating at times but the overpriced food is actually really good. Aside from the TVs all over the place, I don't feel like I'm in a bar but rather a big fat restaurant. A big fat ESPN restaurant. Pros: Food, Bathrooms (TVs), Atmosphere Cons: Pricey, Services more

The real deal with the ESPN zone... 9/13/2005

The ESPN zone is probably the best place to watch sports in Manhattan. Football season is probably the best time to go. One inside, head to the bar on the second floor. That is the best spot to watch the game and meet other people. There are always good looking women there during football season. It isn't as fun as it use to be, but still a good place to watch the game. more

Disappointed 10/28/2004

Great place to watch a game! Plenty of TVs, good food and drink. A diverse mix of people since in Times Square. BIG COMPLAINT- they stopped serving at the bar/restaurant on the 1st floor and the bar on the top floor during the last game of the World Series because the workers wanted to get out early!!!! They crammed people at one bar/restaurant, on one floor. WHAT KIND OF SPORTS BAR IS THAT???!! Pros: Reasonably Priced, Great Big Screens, Fun Crowd more

The Planet Hollywood of sports bars 10/12/2004

First off the place is crawling with tourist, and it in times square. Which means everything is twice what you'd pay anywhere else. FYI: Tourist we don't pay that much for a burger and beer, even in NYC. Second the waiter/waitress checks on you every 3 hrs or so, so order 3 beers at a time. Finally, since they got rid of the recliners up front no reason to go there. Only plus TV's over urinals, and in stalls. Unless this is the closest bomb shelter during nuclear fallout, Stay Away! Pros: Tv's in bathrooms Cons: , Expensive, Crowded more
