Duke-a-ritas! 6/29/2006

Love the Duke-a-Ritas!\r menu not too extensive\r reasonable price\r Cute waitresses and every game on the 6 plasma screens Pros: Cute Waitresses Cons: not too many choices on menu more

Eye Candy=BBQ Pits! 6/25/2006

Hmmm, sure the food is great and the atmosphere is rockin' but....every single time I have gone (I work in entertainment/fashion and have a bevy of very beautiful female friends that I've been there with) we've noticed that our food is repeatedly served up with a side order of animosity from the more immature waitresses on staff who--eye candy though they may be--cannot seem to handle a sweeter piece of eye candy than themselves and seem to feel the need to resort to insecure and hostile hatin' behavior. Too bad, leaves a nasty taste in one's mouth...so sad, since otherwise it's a great place. Pros: Great food, good drinks, visually fun environment Cons: Hostile waitresses more

dukes rocks! 6/18/2006

this place is the best for burgers and beers, I have been going to watch the world cup every day, food is great and the beers are cold. I thank you duke for making my life so super duper Pros: good food more

Beautiful Staff, Lackluster Service 11/22/2005

This establishment features some of the most beautiful men and women of Manhattan in their staff, probably a collection of wannabe actors/models or something thereof. Clearly they're thinking of themselves as they seemingly forgot about us and other customers. Service was unattentive, flirty but not necessarily friendly, and managed to get NO tip from me. The food tasted like something from a chain restaurant like TGI Friday's, Bennigan's, or Applebee's, which was just fine. The decor was about the same as the food, very chain-like but not unique. The bathrooms were nice, the beer was good, and the prices were fair. Overall, the place is alright but the service needs some work. Pros: Cute Staff, Prices Cons: Crowded, Service more

Who is crazy ""horrible"" lady? 8/24/2005

I was a little trepidatious after reading the review titled ""horrible,"" but my friends were having a party there so I went. I was very happy. The service was great and I thought the margaritas were actually a little too strong. There are so few laid back places in the city that actually work hard to make sure you have a good time. This is one of them. Perhaps she went on an off night. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to go back!! Pros: Friendly staff, Good food Cons: Loud music more

DUKES = LOVE 5/10/2005

Been coming here for five years now, can't say enough for this comfy cool spot, great for drinks, to watch games, grab a bite or just chill gotta love duke's more

Great food... cute girls... 2/27/2005

Dukes is a great place to enjoy simple, easy good food! The girls that work there are cute and friendly as are the patrons (guys and girls). It was crazy busy when I went there with a group of friends (we did have a reservation) and everyone had a great time. The nachos are delicious! Pros: service, great food, great atmosphere more

Kicked Out in Mid-Overpriced-Pitcher 2/10/2005

The food is ehn. My ""baked beans"" were hard...which leads me to believe that they aren't baked at all, just normal undercooked beans with bbq sauce on them. The brisket wasn't very tender, though it was flavorful. But beware the beer! There are no prices posted and our pitcher of Yuengling was a whopping $18!!!!! Then we were told that they were very busy and we had to leave even though we had 1/2 of our precious beer left. Un-freaking-believable. Pros: Desserts! Cons: Everything Else more

Brunch 1/15/2005

Less oil guys! Seemed like greasy recooked midwestern food. Calamari and bloddy Marys however were surprisely good. Pros: atmosphere, nice staff Cons: , loud tvs more

Good Comfort Food But Not Much Else 1/8/2005

The chicken wings, pigs in a blanket, BBQ sandwich, and other dishes are tasty comfort food. Otherwise, I don't recommend this restaurant for anyone over 25 or anyone who likes good service. Sure, the waitresses are hot, but you'll have to wait 30 minutes just to get your drinks. It's a great place if you want to relive your fraternity years. Pros: comfort food Cons: , atmosphere more

Nothing special 10/6/2004

The food is blah and the service is slow. But, Duke's is a fun place to grab a drink and enjoy the trailer-park ambiance. more

GOOD FUN 8/2/2004

went to college in the south, this is the first place in NYC that reminds me of the good old days... I went with some friends to catch the yankees and drink some beers. Ended up eating a burger and picked up a cutie ( I am know dating ) more

BBQ CUTIES 7/22/2004

Talk about cute waitresses, Duke's serves up some good grub and cheap PBR in a can all while looking at some of the cutest girls in the big apple Thanks Dukes more

Fun night 7/14/2004

If you like playing a little trivia, your gonna love dukes. dropped by last tuesday night for some ribs and found out it was Trivia Tuesday! played a few games with the entire place, lot of laughs and a really good time. Food was great as usual but the trivia game was a nice change of pace. They even gave out prizes and had guys chugging beers as a tie breaker Pros: Good Food, nice lookin women more

not real down home BBQ 7/6/2004

My husband and I came here on our anniversary, after having a strong craving for BBQ we set out to find a nice BBQ spot in the Union Square district, where we were also seeing a theatre performance. We were sadly disappointed in the food. The ribs were seasoned with some kind of sauce that did not even taste like BBQ sauce, the collard greens were not even cut they were cooked whole and they were seasoned with celantro and other spanish seasonings instead of southern seasonings, and last but not least the Macaroni & cheese also left alot to be desired, it was bland. Pros: inexpensive, large portions, not crowded Cons: , no ambience, laid back service more

Stay Away from the Jambalaya 3/30/2004

Good food at tolerable prices, but stay away from the jambalaya. It's half the size it used to be but still costs $11.95. Order it for your 11-year old son, but make sure to also get him an appetizer because it's not filling. Pros: Good food, Good music Cons: , Mediocre Service more

Great for Groups! 3/28/2004

I thought this place was simple and down to earth. The food was great. Try the pulled pork, fried chicken, and the spinach & artichoke dip! Also, the mac & cheese was one of the best in the city! It was crowded, festive, and full of laughter. If you are looking for a place to watch games, catch up with some friends, or just have great time...this place is it! Pros: Food, Drinks, Crowd more

YUM! 12/26/2003

2 Words...Pulled Pork! The scene is very low key and the food is excellent. I would recommend the Pulled Pork sandwich, the chili, the brisket and the salads. Also a fun bar scene when there is a big game on! Pros: Food, Atmosphere Cons: Service can be slow more

Not of Hazzard County 6/4/2003

Intent on finding good southern food and BBQ in NYC, I headed to Dukes. Unfortunately the instant whipped potatoes, dry babyback ribs, and cumin flavored collard greens did not have southern or BBQ written on them at all. Sorry guys and gals but babybacks just don't fly in BBQ country! Pros: service Cons: food more

Good food and good sports... 5/14/2003

They've got lots of TVs for sports viewing and lots of cute waitresses/bartenders for some more eye candy. Some of the waitresses are bitter from having the guy constantly hit on them but... overall, its a great crowd. Foods good (not great) and the beer is good too. I would recommend this place. Pros: beer, sports more
