Horrible bar and I was hurt by an employee 6/29/2009

I will never go here again... The management crossed the line. If I had know the owners of Drinker's was the same management (Four Corners Management) as Lucy's I never would have considered going to Drinkers. This is what happened...\r \r 6/26/09 around 10:30 or maybe 11:00 four friends and I went to Drinker's our first stop (no drinking had yet to occur although they had no way of knowing that)... I was the last one in and kind of got separated in the entry way. I handed the bouncer my PA ID (by the way, I am 30 and probably too old for Drinker's anyway, but we needed to meet up with some other friends that were already there before going to a different location) and he proceeded to tell me that he couldn't accept it and needed another form. When I asked why (again I am 30!) he said it was expired. I totally forgot and apologized and handed him my state issued temporary extension (which is good enough for the cops) and my picture card for a new license. He said no that he wouldn't accept it (even though it is a legal document!) so I said fine, I just need to make contact with my friends who were now well into the noisy crowed bar... This power hungry bouncer (the same kind at Lucy's) then started calling me sweetheart and said I was trespassing and needed to leave. I said that I would not enter the bar, but would not leave the entrance until I at least could wave down my friend or make eye contact that I was being denied entry in to the horribly loud, crowded and dirty bar. I did not and do not think that was an unreasonable request and told him to stop calling me sweetheart. I was not drunk (but at the same time he didn't know that) not a threat, and clearly of age and had proven so with my valid ID. He then grabbed my wrist (which is now bruised in the shape of his fingers) and LITERALLY threw me out of the bar (I also have a softball size bruise on my hip). I tried to get him off of me and fight back but all I could do was sp*t (not something I have ever done but I felt extremely threatened) he was too strong and hurting me. No man ever has the right to raise his hand to a woman. My friend just happened to look up and see the whole thing happen and demanded to speak to the manager (who according to their website is named Joe Crouse) and came outside with me... Instead of being professional or even helpful... the manager came outside and started screaming at me asking me and I quote 'do you f*ck your father with that mouth?!"" over and over again.\r \r I am a highly educated 30 year old professional and I have never been treated so horribly or seen such lack of professionalism in my life… I will Never Ever go to Drinker’s Pub. Nor will I ever go to one of their other horrible establishments again (which are Drinker’s Tavern, Lucy’s Hat Shop, NoChe, and Loie) See my review for Lucy’s Hat shop to see why I will never go there again either… The behavior of the staff should have tipped me off that it was the same management.\r Cons: Unprofessional Staff more

Great Happy Hour Scene!! 2/24/2009

Came here with a bunch of co-workers for Happy Hour & had such a great time that I didn't leave until 12am!! Great Happy Hour specials but also a bunch of specials that run all night so amazingly I left Rittenhouse with some money in my pocket. Crowd was fun and there were a bunch of young professionals to talk/flirt with so I was happy!! Jukebox selection was perfect & the menu was simple but satisfying. I will definitely be back to Drinker's in the near future. Pros: Happy Hour Specials, Cheap Drinks, Jukebox more

Great Drink Specials & Tasty Bar Food 2/23/2009

35cent Wings and $1 Tacos that are actually tasty....amazing\r $2 Drafts & $5 Pitchers During Happy Hour...perfect\r Basically a great spot to just relax and watch the crowds walk down Chestnut or play their great jukebox. So much fun and always packed on the weekends!! Pros: Cheap Drinks & Great Jukebox more

horrible 11/13/2008

horrible. terrible. it's like an Applebees. they don't serve Yuengling. THEY DON'T SELL YUENGLING! White collar PATCO people in the evening, popped collar PATCO people at night. Even for Chestnut street, this bar stands out as uncommonly lame.\r \r If you go here, leave Center City sometime. Pros: it's near PATCO...wait that's a con Cons: so very many more

If you're looking for A Great Spot all Weekend come HERE!! 6/4/2008

No matter what day I go here there are awesome specials and they have such a fun crowd...no one is taking themselves too seriously and everyone is there to have a good time. I heard that this was a good place to watch Phillies games on Sundays so I checked it out and they have $1 hotdogs and tacos plus cheap pitchers....doesn't get any better then that!! Pros: Great Drink Specials more

Great happy hour if you know when it starts! 8/14/2007

I came to Drinker's on a Friday evening with some friends for happy hour. Unfortunately, their happy hour doesn't start until 7pm. But there's happy hour next door that starts at 5pm. Now I know! But we had a really good time. Cosmos were pretty pricey for being kind of watered down. But the $3 vodka drinks during happy hour made it worth it. It was kind of crowded, but what bar in the city isn't? All of the servers are really nice and the food was pretty tasty, too! I would definitely come back. Pros: happy hour, cheap food Cons: too loud to hear the person next to you more

Cheap and fun 8/6/2007

Drinker's always has a good crowd and a good special going, even if you don't make it to happy hour. more

Great food, drinks and service. 8/1/2007

I love the Pub's food, I always come here for Happy Hour. Sometimes I stay all night, I cant get away from the cheap drinks, great music and speedy service. They have 25 cent wings and vodka and redbulls for only $6 all the time every day! Thats what I'm talking about! more

Pretty Cool 9/27/2006

I really like this little spot. The staff are hospitable... they have some pretty good specials.. gets a bit too crowded though sometimes...and if you want a change you can walk right upstairs to Noche which is the same owner and a bit of a more loungy atmosphere. The only thing is they could use more of a draft beer selection and that's important to me. But besides that very cool and fun spot. Pros: Cool staff, cool atmosphere, Noche right upstairs with good food Cons: Need more draft selection more

awesome drink specials! 9/7/2006

I stopped in this bar to meet a friend, I never knew it was here! Apparently it's got a whole following of people from all genres who collect here for the music, bartenders and cheap drinks!\r Everyone in this bar is really friendly, and totally there to have a good time. Plus watching drunk girls dance to Bon Jovi is always a good time!!!! Pros: cheap drinks, good music Cons: small bathrooms more

Drinker's moves uptown..thank God 11/9/2005

Rittenhouse might be getting a little cooler these days with the addition of this favorite Old City bar. There are TV's, cheap eats and plenty of sticky beer floors to make everyone happy. Pros: cheap drinks, great food, crowded bar Cons: parking more

Love Love Love it! 9/22/2005

If you are just out of college or still in college this is the place to go drink and have a grand time! Its super cheap (no cover, $2 pbr) plus the music is too fun. The people there are so nice and always guaranteed a crazy time. Perfect for anyone on a budget and looking to have a good time. Pros: cheap, fun college music Cons: a little small more

Drinkers has the extra Fizzy 9/21/2005

Went to Drinkers last night with my friends and it was outstanding. A very relaxed atmospehere, where friends can meet up and trade stories. Or in my case, friends who get carried away and entertain the staff, and in which the staff returned the favor and who interacted with our group and had fun too. A fun location to add to some stuffy areas around Rittenhouse Square. Pros: Atmosphere, Value more
