I am always on the hunt for unique items. Pros: LOCATION / ATMOSPHERE / JACK SPADE! Cons: it's not in Seattle

How does this place stay in business????? I walk on the dock daily and even try to say hello to the guy who works there that is always on the computer or the phone. Sometimes I ...

Really?....REALLY? 12/29/2010

I have never written a comment (good or bad) about a business - this is my first. Before today, I have not heard anything about Dress Code but was in the area and wanting to buy a couple of new outfits. After grocery shopping, I walked into the store and apparently walked into two people having an argument (one of the persons worked there). I was quickly approached and asked to leave. The worker informed me that he needed to close for 30 minutes to have time to talk to this other guy. I started looking for cameras and waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out and inform me that I was being ""Punked."" I was flabbergasted knowing that businesses would actually do this!! After telling all my friends, it made out to be a good laugh. I'm sure I'll be telling many more people this ""hilarious"" story. more

I am always on the hunt for unique items. Pros: LOCATION / ATMOSPHERE / JACK SPADE! Cons: it's not in Seattle more

best store IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS!! 7/6/2007

It is rather hard for me to fathom that people see this establishment as a unique trendy cutting edge men's clothing emporium. When are Portlanders going to ""catch up"" to the new Portland and drop the flannel shirts?? Cons: boring clothes, unfriendly rude service more

Best store 7/5/2007

I come to the Pearl often and shop for my Husband and myself. This shop was recommended to me, and it is a great find. The selection is cutting edge, and the help was great. When they did not have the right size, they brought it in from New York. WOW, that was a treat. This boutique, and other destination shops are making this area of town wonderful Pros: GREAT CLOTHES more

HOW CAN YOU COMPARE THIS SHOP TO A HIP CUTTING EDGE RETAILER LIKE JEFFREY????!!!! 7/5/2007

GIVE ME A BREAK!!! TO THE REVIEWER BEFORE ME. OBVIOUSLY YOU'VE NEVER BEEN THERE TO MAKE SUCH A GRANDIOSE COMMENT! YOU DIDN'T EVEN SPELL IT CORRECTLY. DRESS CODE IS NOTHING MORE THAN THEN A SHOP WITH OLD & WAY OVER PRICED CLOTHING THAT IS HUNG IN A DRAP OUT DATED DECOR. I BELIEVE WHEN OTHERS REFERRED TO DRESS CODE BEING OVER PRICED THEY MEANT YOU CAN FIND THE SAME BORING THINGS YOU WOULD FIND THERE AT SAKS FOR A WHOLE LOT LESS. I TRULY WISH THIS PLACE WAS A JEFFREY OR A FRED SEGAL THEN WE COULD REALLY BRAG ABOUT THE PEARL! Pros: LOCATION more

AWESOME STORE 6/19/2007

LOVE this cute store! Stores like this make the Pearl the great destination spot it has become. Pros: the area more

DON'T GET IT EITHER 6/18/2007

HAVE TRIED TO GET THIS PLACE FOR THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. HAVE ATTEMPTED TO GET PAST THE RUDE SERVICE FROM THE SALES CLERK BUT TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THE PRICES ARE SO OUT OF LINE WITH REALITY. LET'S GET A GRIP! HAVE TO SAY I'LL CONTINUE TO PASS ON THIS PLACE. more

DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER 5/31/2007

I stumbled into Dress Code after it was recommended by a few of my friends to find a good selection of clothes that would be appropriate for me to wear to a graduation ceremony. I am not a ""fashion plate"" by any means. I am most comfortable in jeans and my favorite old T shirt. Which is what I was wearing when I went shopping the other day. The service or should I say lack of service was unbelievable. The clerk was to busy on the phone to greet me never mind help me. I was there for nearly a half an hour or so and there was no interaction from him. I suppose I was not dressed to his liking! Normally I am not very big on speaking negatively about someone or some place since I am a health care professional and like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but after reading some of the reviews of this shop here on Citysearch when I got home, I felt it only right for me to add my experiences. Hopefully the owner(s) of Dress Code will be reading these reviews from time to time and clearly see that they need to address the people they employ. otherwise I don't see this establishment lasting very long. more

WOW WHAT A SHOP! 5/31/2007

1. COMPLETELY OVER PRICED more then 50% more than store in SF for same item more

I have just one question???? 5/29/2007

How does this place stay in business????? I walk on the dock daily and even try to say hello to the guy who works there that is always on the computer or the phone. Sometimes I get a hello back other times who knows. There is never any one shopping in there. I never see people around the area with ""DRESS CODE"" shopping bags. What's the deal? Does anyone have a clue? The clothes are not my style they seem to be geared for the tourists I suppose. I just hope the space doesn't turn into another arts and craft gallery. We already have way too many of those. more

GREAT stuff 5/29/2007

One of favorite Potland stores. Pros: great place more

MORE REVIEWS THEN CUSTOMERS 5/28/2007

When I saw how many reviews this place has it shocked me. I work next door and never see anyone shopping there. Matter of fact all I ever see is the guy who works there on the computer......strange. Any how it's not all that, I can never find anything there even on sale which usually consists of all the merchandise. A pretty boring approach to fashion if you ask me, not much excitement going on there! Just wanted to add my ""2 cents"". more

great shop, great location, 5/27/2007

THE PEARL IS A GREAT PLACE TO SHOP more

??????@@@!!!!!!?????? 5/27/2007

I consider myself to be a hip dresser, almost cutting edge. I do admit that I do most of my clothes shopping while traveling for work. I do however like to spend money where I live to support local businesses. I've been in this place several times and each time I ask myself WHY? Well the why is that I am a forgiving guy, with the hopes of finding something interesting or the attitude gone. Well guess not! The atmosphere is like a mausoleum and the attitude of the clerk/owner (whatever) is that of a waiter in an old French restaurant. I truly don't want this space to be taken over by a Banana Republic but I think it is inevitable. more

I WENT OUT LOOKING FOR A SHIRT & ALL I FOUND WAS ATTITUDE....!!! 5/27/2007

I was born and raised in Portland and LOVE all the growth that has been going on the last few years. I especially like all the unique shops that are dotting the retail landscape. I went out on a mission the other day to find a shirt for my husband. I went Mario's and a few shops downtown and found nothing. Then I recalled a small shop next to Bluehour. I was very excited since I had never been before because it was always closed. Well my excitement left me as I walked in the door. The greeting or should I say lack of by the one man staff was enough to do that. I did find a shirt that I liked but didn't LOVE enough to buy since the ATTITUDE of this place was so bad I didn't want to encourage it by spending my $$$ there! Cons: rude service without a smile more

GREAT STORE FOR WICKED CLOTHES! 5/24/2007

DRESS CODE, was a great spot to shop for my boyfriend. I wanted to purchase something really special, Pros: The help was great, the present was fantastic! more

Cutomer service at it's BEST! 5/22/2007

WOW, All I can say is check out this store for yourself. I have shopped here for many years, and have always gotten the best attention. Last month I was attending a very special occasion in L.A. and I stopped in to pick up a special few pieces. Unfortunately, the store did not have my size. Instead of sending me away, the owner called the NYC rep, and located the jacket and shirt for me from another location. I was thrilled when the store called, to say they had my size. Not only did they bring in the pieces in for me, but had them sent to L.A. where I was. Pros: AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE, more

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME???? 5/22/2007

I LOVE PORTLAND!!! I JUST MOVED FROM NYC TO A FAB CONDO @ THE HENRY. THE RESTAURANTS ARE AWESOME, THE WINE FANTASTIC, THE SHOPS FOR THE MOST PART CHIC. MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE I'M FROM MANHATTAN THAT I DON'T GET THIS SHOP. I SHOULD, I LOVE CLOTHES: BUT RUDE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT, SELECTION NOT MUCH OF ONE, AND CAN WE SAY OVER PRICED!!!! WHY? THE OWNERS MUST NEVER BE IN TOWN OTHERWISE I THINK I'D BE WRITING A DIFFERENT REVIEW. Pros: WISH I HAD SOMETHING POSITIVE TO SAY! Cons: ATTITUDE more

ALMOST ALL THE MAKINGS OF A HIP BOUTIQUE 5/20/2007

This place should be one of may favorite shops to find something great to wear, but it always falls short. more

OVER PRICED WITH EXTRA ATTITUDE!! 5/20/2007

The location of this shop is all it has going for it. My first time there I was floored by how rude the owner/clerk was. Then as I looked at the merchandise it was old (past seasons) being presented as current. It didn't stop there! When I looked at the prices I laughed. WARNING: look at the inside label to see the date that the manufacture has stated this collection is from, then check prices! Pros: LOCATION you can go to Bluehour for a cocktail after the ticket shock to calm your nerves Cons: ALL THE REST! more
