Editorial review from Citysearch 10/20/2012

We had out of town family to celebrate my birthday and my Dad's (90th) birthday party. Called Tuesday to make reservations for 20. Was told that reservations were not necessary unless it was a party of 30 or more but to come in at noon n will be seated with no problem. Got there and they gave us 2 tables of 10. Argued with an uncaring manager in a half full Dragos, to no avail. \r We called Don's Seafood in Metairie on Veterans Blvd. and they told us they could accomodate a party of 20 in 30 minutes. The staff was incredible. Gave my Dad a fabulous gift bag, our own private room and personal waitress. The service was excellent, food was delicious - and three hours, over $800 (excluding tip), the Kuhn family is very content with our happy dual birthday celebration! more

Their Specialty is Oysters, Don't Veer Far! 2/14/2009

The charbroiled oysters are absolutely the best, kiss somebody in the face (twice)! (this thing won't let me say what I want to but normally if you say you want to injure someone because of how good something is, its a good thing) Everything else is ""aight."" Pros: You won't be disappointed with the oysters. Cons: Unless you love oysters and plan to make them your meal, don't go. more

Worst food and service ever 10/20/2008

I am a vegetarian and was visiting from out of town for work. I went there with a large group of people. Upon asking our waiter about what he can bring me since I'm a vegetarian - He said he could bring me a shrimp salad. I reiterated that I'm a vegetarian. He rolled his eyes and then said that he could bring me a caesar salad. I asked if he could check with the chef if they could make something for me. He came back and said they could make a pasta primavera with fresh veggies in an alfredo sauce. We waited for an extremely long time until our food came out. In the mean time, our waiter barely even made an appearance to check on us. When the food came, my ""pasta primavera"" was completely cold and wasn't even in an alfredo sauce. I told the waiter that if it could be warmed up somehow. He took it away. When it was brought back, it seemed they had replaced the cold veggies with warm ones and left the pasta as is. I gave up and just ate the veggies off of my plate. The waiter never checked to see if my food was acceptable nor did he check with anyone at our table. Once our checks came I saw that I was charged 18.95 for my cold pasta. Overall - this is the worst food and worst service that I have probably ever experienced anywhere. I truly cannot believe that I was charged that much for my food. Again - the worst food and worst service I have ever experienced. Cons: Food, Service, Loud more

Drago's at Hilton in New Orleans 8/28/2007

Drago?s at the Hilton for lunch. I have to say the oysters are not quite up to par compared to the ones in Metairie. They were not smoked at all. They even didn't have that blackening look to them. They were barely cooked and floating in way too much butter. I would definitely not get them again at the Hilton. We had the Creole tomatoes topped with shrimp which was quite tasty. We also had their shrimp and corn bisque which is very good. Service was a bit off and the place was not busy at all. more

Owners on top of every meal 4/25/2007

Drago's has to be the best Seafood resturant in New Orleans. The owners see to that. They are on top of very meal to make sure every patron walks out of the completely satisfied. \r \r You can't pass up the Charbroiled oysters. Even if you have never tried oysters you have to try these. don't let anybody discourage you from trying them. Once you have eaten one you will never go there without having a dozen or two. more

My Favorite Place to Celebrate 7/17/2006

There's nothing even close to celebrating your birthday with great martinis, charbroiled oysters, and a giant 5lb lobster! Drago's is the closest thing to heaven on earth. The creme brulee is yummy too. My husband usually eats the seafood pasta in addition to splitting the giant loster, which is awesome too! Pros: everything Cons: Prepare for a wait, but it is expected with such great food. more

Best oysters ever 10/30/2005

Everything is great at this restaurant, but the char broiled oysters are to die for. I don't live in Louisiana anymore, but schedule my trips into the New Orleans airport around getting oysters at Drago's. You'll need a good map to find it and parking is tight, but it's worth searching. Pros: Oysters, Wine selection, Service Cons: Parking, Finding it more

Great Date Place 6/21/2004

I was taken to Drago's almost three years ago on a date. Ever since my boyfriend takes there atleast 1-4 times a month to relive our first date. They are one of the best places to take your date. The only why I eat oyster is at Drago's and the have to be char-grilled. I would rate this restaurant a 10. Pros: Service, Food, Inexpensive more

Best Oysters! 6/5/2004

Drago's has the BEST char-grilled oyster's I've ever had! That and the lobster makes a wonderful dinner at a reasonable price. I highly recommend it! Pros: menu choices, ambience, taste more

THE BEST !!! 2/7/2003

Drago's is a family owned restaurant, has been listed in travel magazines, and is generally accredited with having the best oysters anywhere. This is all true. The family is there running the business, and the staff is helpful and prompt. All these things pale in comparison to the food. I've yet to taste something there which is not truly fantastic. The calimari, the oysters, the lobsters, and the shrimp--the pasta and chicken dishes are fabulous as well. You will LOVE Drago's. Walk, don't run to the place in Metairie. They don't advertise because they don't need to, and there's a good reason for that--people talk when they're happy and full. :) People go once and become regulars. Pros: FOOD, prices, Staff more

Heaven on the Half-shell 7/24/2002

If you have never experienced the culinary delights of Drago's charbroiled oysters on the half-shell, you are one step farther from heaven than those of us who have. There may be no better way to end the day or impress a client than with a couple dozen oysters and a 25 year old single malt. Everything at Drago's is very good and the service is quietly efficient but the charbroiled oysters are truly a thing of beauty. Pros: Food, Aroma Cons: parking more
