A great almost bright night 4/30/2013

One of the best stays of my monthlong trip allover Alaska. The couple ruling this awesome B&B is very helpful and personal and creates a comfortable atmosphere. Be sure to be there during Raspberry season :) And remember: You have you're own apartment, isn't that great? more

Thank you! 4/30/2013

The rooms were clean and comfortable and the price was a great value. It's a romantic little place conveniently located. But the real story is how Allen went above and beyond the duty of an innkeeper. Upon driving to Alaska from New York City (you read that right) we arrived in Fairbanks with a bit of car trouble. Allen heard the engine noise and immediately found us a mechanic nearby. When we were told it would take a week to fix, Allen, whose Inn was already booked for that time, got on the phone and found us the best price from his competitors! When that ran out he did something really grand, he put us into his personal guest room in the loft above his garage and charged us almost nothing until our car was ready. He and Verna really took care of us during a difficult time. When we were finally ready to leave for the lower 48, Allen said (I'm not making this up) that if we had any trouble within the next 500 miles he'd come and get us. People like that are what makes traveling around the world a beautiful experience. We'll never forget the Downtown Log Cabin B&B and the guy who went out on a limb to take care of us. Thanks a million, Allen. more

The other couple we traveled with arranged our stay at the Downtown Log Cabin Hideaway Bed and Breakfast. I had expected to be disappointed based on some of the reviews and even their lackluster website. However, I was pleasantly surprised! This property is located in a quiet residential area - across from the local high school - and our bathroom window looked out to a neighbor’s backyard. But, it is a very clean, spacious, well maintained, and comfortable: perfect for our wine country biking trip. The young women who was “inn-sitting” was extremely friendly, efficient, and helpful. The pool and spa were very clean and the perfect temperature. Our room was very warm at check-in, but we cranked up the air and all was perfect once we returned from exploring the area. The hotel has several nice patio areas set up around the rooms with tables and chairs, and I even noticed a BBQ in the back area. Fairbanks, AK is such a wonderful wine country town, and this hotel offers you the option of exploring the wineries and enjoying a casual dinner on the patio with an awesome bottle of wine, or the fun of the short walk into downtown with it’s choice of splendid restaurants and wine bars. I would probably not recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway, but it would definitely be on the top of my list for a girl’s weekend getaway or as a great place to stay when you have a full agenda – golf, biking, visiting friends in the area, etc. more

I was looking for a hotel that offered a "suite" as I was traveling with my 4 year old son and 9 month old daughter. I booked a 1 bedroom suite at the Downtown Log Cabin Hideaway Bed and Breakfast hoping that it would be a good fit...and it was! The hotel room felt more like a 1 bedroom apartment. It had a full kitchen, living room and bedroom. The bedroom was far enough from the living room that when I put my daughter to bed early, the noise from living room did not disrupt her sleep. The parking couldn`t have been better...parked my car within feet of the front door, so loading and unloading was a breeze. The neighborhood was extremely quiet. My ONLY complaint is that it was a 103 degree day. The only a/c in the room was a window unit in the living room. It did not reach the bedroom, so the room was about 90 degrees. I had to sleep with windows open and fans blowing on the kids. Other than that, it was perfect and I would definitely stay there again. more

We were in Downtown Log Cabin Hideaway Bed and Breakfast for a wedding. Stayed at this place because it was on the bridal web site. Found it to be a nice, quaint place. We rented a 2 room suite that slept 6. Only one bedroom other sleeping was in the living room but great for a family. Room had a kitchen and we found that they provided us fruit which was a nice surprise. The rate for this area was very reasonable. And my most important feature it was very clean!! more

Like visiting family! Me and my son stayed at the Downtown Log Cabin Hideaway for 2 nites .It was the best stay ever. Verna and Al are outstanding. We had the Hall House. It has a separate entrance,is spacious, very clean, nice decoration, comfy rooms etc. We shared the house the first nite and had it the second nite to ourselves as no one had booked the other room. Al even said we could use the bicycles (mountain bikes in mint condition)for free, which he kindly left in the garage for us. So i make it short: you'll feel like coming home to mom and dad.We would recommend this place to anyone! A True Gem In Fairbanks My husband and I can't say enough about the wonderful stay we had with Allen and Verna Fleming at the Downtown Log Cabin Hideaway Bed and Breakfast. We arrived on a motorcycle after calling the B&B from the Fairbanks Visitor's Center. The Visitor's Center was very complementary regarding this specific B&B and since we had no advanced reservations we were very lucky that they were able to accommodate us. We were given the loft for one night before moving into the main house for our stay of over five days. The loft was comfortable and more that met our needs. Allen is so knowledgeable about the surrounding areas that we just relied on his expertise to direct us to the best sights. He was helpful beyond our expectations. Verna's breakfasts were varied and plentiful. Our room and the house as a whole was spotless. We will definitely return to stay at the Downtown Log Cabin B&B the next time we are in Fairbanks, Alaska. more

Although we were needing a real hotel, everything was booked solid in Fairbanks. While calling hotels, the Downtown Log Cabin came up as an option. We did not know it was a B&B, but we got the last room Alan and Verna had in their main house. When we arrived, we were surprised to find it was a private home (we've never stayed in a B&B before), we are private people, and weren't very comfortable sharing a bathroom with strangers, but it was our only option, so we stayed. We told Alan and Verna the situation, and they were so gracious, they worked so hard to try and find somewhere else for us to stay. I've never met nicer people. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept well. The next morning's breakfast was delicious, made even more enjoyable by our conversation with our hosts. They know so much about this area, and helped us decide what to do and see. Although the situation wasn't exactly what we were looking for, it was absolutely worth it to meet these great people. If you like B&B's, you can't go wrong here, it's a quality location, close to everything, and the hosts are the best! more
