Never Again 7/27/2007

I wanted to scope this place out to celebrate an upcoming birthday so I decided to try it out with my sister and niece. When we walked in to the restaurant, the hostess visually displayed her annoyance of having a three and a half year old child dining there. When seated, we ordered drinks and food. One of the drinks we ordered was a fruit juice and they served just under a half a small glass (this was not off the childrens menu) - I have never come across a restaurant that serves such a small quantity of soft drink). About 10-15 mins after the other two got their drinks, my wine arrived. The glass needed to be changed so I requested the waiter to change the glass - rather than taking away my glass away to make the switch, he just brought me another glass and left it on the table for me to pour my wine into it myself. Pros: Guacamole Cons: Bad service more

Terrible. 6/26/2007

This was my worst restaurant experience in my entire life. We had early dinner reservations, but we still had to wait. And then after being seated literally 2 inches from another table of guests, we were actually TOLD to move to another table! They told us to get up and move! And then they couldn't figure out where to seat us. My husband happened to have a cold and didn't feel like drinking or eating a ton, so when I ordered a drink and he didn't, they sneered at him! And then he only wanted a taco, and they went on and on about how that wasn't an entree! Terrible. We haven't gone back since. Pros: good drinks and food Cons: terrible service! more

Good, But Expensive 5/6/2007

Typical of NY restaurants, the tab will soar when you order several drinks. We rang up over $350 for 2 couples. The guacamole is everything people say -- excellent. The rest of the food was also quite good and the entree portions were not as small as I thought they'd be. We were satisfied after having the guacamole, several shared appetizers and our main dishes. The service was good, but they need more bartenders to cope with a full house. It simply took too long to bring our drink orders. Pros: Very good food Cons: Drink prices, Speed of Bartending more

Great Food and Great Service! 4/27/2007

I've been here twice now. I brought my boyfriend here for his Bday and I brought my parents here for brunch. Both times the food was amazing and margaritas strong! Def get the gaucamole! Their brunch is a great deal...for $15 I got a frozen prickly pear margarita, lobster tacos and coffee! The waiter was very helpful and attentive. If your looking for a great spot for a special occasion, def come here! Pros: amazing food, strong margaritas, the best gaucamole, good service, unique decor more

Go just for the Guacamole 4/2/2007

Great dishes about at Dos Caminos, but the meals almost seem like a let down after the guacamole. The servers make the guac right at your table so it is amazingly fresh. You can order it from mild to extra spicy to suit your palate. I bought my own mortar and pestil to try and concoct my own after tasting theirs. Pros: Greatest Guacamole Cons: Tight seating more

what is the big deal about this place? 3/27/2007

Wow, you really have to be full of yourself to dine here! What is the big deal about this place? I paid 10 bucks for a margarita and over 10 for 2 finger sized, and I mean baby tacos and a cup size side of beans. They just tasted like tacos and beans- nothing special and I was starving afterwards. The margaritas were not strong or anything special either in fact those were small too. The staff was ok, but the place was overcrowded. I wont be going back to this restaurant anytime soon. This restaurant is very obviously for the pretentious. Pros: The waitress was friendly Cons: Prices were high-food nothing special more

Can't Wait to go Back 3/11/2007

I wasn't that into the entree, but the guacamole was to die for. They have a bar where they make the guacamole - awesome. more

Delicious margaritas and guacomole, entrees leave somethign to be desires 3/6/2007

the margaritas and guacomole are wonderful, and are a real draw to this place, also nice ambiance, but all the entrees ive tried, the chicken, the tacos, the fish, were all just ok to good.. id come back, but may just order appetizers next time. more

Great brunch! 1/30/2007

I've been here twice- once for a reception and once for brunch. I've heard complaints that DC is a bit overpriced but the brunch was reasonably priced and AMAZING. $11-15 gets you a brunch entree, a margarita (regular or prickly pear), champagne, bloody mary, or mimosa, and a cup of coffee or tea. The chips and salsa are great- I'm not a guac fan but those who sprung for it enjoyed. Our waiter was a little on the surly side but the rest of the FOH staff was friendly. Everyone raved over the breakfast quesadilla and the Mexican (though I'm not sure what made it Mexican) brioche french toast with berry salsita and a side of the spiced whipped cream. Yum! Mexican brunch is a great late afternoon cure for a hangover! Pros: Great Brunch Cons: Kind of overpriced other times more

Absolutely wonderful! 1/29/2007

Wandered in around 5pm on a Saturday night with no reservation, the hostess was very friendly and gave us a table but informed us that we had to be gone by 7pm because they were booked solid. The waitress was also very good, Nice atmosphere, candles made a good ambiance. We saw the whole staff taste testing the nightly specials with the chef as he explained them. Thought that was good that they got to taste what they had to describe and serve. We had the guacamole which was fabulous! The Mahi Mahi Tacos were to die for!! We almost ordered a second helping! Will definately go back. Great ambiance, great staff, great location, great presentation and selection and most of all, everything tasted wonderful! more

Fire Hazard 12/13/2006

I'm a frequent patron at B. R. guest restaurants, including Dos Caminos in other locations. I have always received excellent services, until my experience at Dos Caminos Soho. I reconfirmed my reservation, but we still had to wait 50 minutes. Their signature guacamole ($12) is known to prep at your table/moveable cart, but it was prepped in the kitchen. All their dishes were good (taste wise), but you can tell it was rushed. How can you not? A table for 4 sat 5, by adding a chair to block the walkway and elsewhere too. Many waiters handed utensils and passed hot dishes to customers, because they couldn't get to the other side. Last night might have been profitable for them at customers' expenses & experiences, but they've just lost 5+ patrons, plus their friends who will hear about it. Cons: Stressful more

Amazing Food! 12/3/2006

The best guacamole I have ever tried and I think it is good for 3 people (not 2 as they suggest). Pros: Food, Guacamole, Ambience, Drinks. Cons: A little cramped. more
