The SceneWith its clean dining room, colorful tablecloths, wooden chairs and upholstered booths, Don Taco is more user-friendly than competing taquerias or fast-food chains. Families, workers and folks just in from Nogales stream through looking for a cheap meal, the latest Univision news mumbling from the restaurant's two televisions sets, and maybe a Tecate. The FoodDespite the name, tacos aren't the house specialty. More elaborate choices like the vegetarian-friendly, toothsome Tampico burrito are a better bet. Filled with pinto beans, grilled onions, peppers, tomatoes and potatoes and cheese, it's a handful. Chicken flautas, rolled tortillas holding surprisingly moist chicken breast, are fried to a crisp for a satisfying meal. Not as successful is the grilled beef taco, served unappetizingly cool and Americanized with shredded lettuce and a mound of cheese. Remember to hit the fresh salsa bar first.
