I came here for lunch one day when my crew was in the Pineapple Grove area. Our waitress was extremely rude. So much so that I wanted to leave as soon as she seated us. My frie...

I went to Dolce Amore with 3 other middle-aged women and we had a $25 certificate from restaurant.com. At first, the waiter refused to accept the certificate because it was purchased more than a year ago, even though restaurant.com says that their certificates don't expire. Fortunately, I had purchased a newer certificate and they had to accept that one. Since we know that the portions at Dolce Amore are large, and we can't eat a lot, we decided to order 3 entrees and 2 salads. After taking our order back to the kitchen, our waiter came out and told us that there is a $6 "sharing" fee. I asked if it said that on the menu and he assured me that it did. Before leaving the restaurant, I looked at a menu and there was nothing on the menu about a sharing fee. I asked to see the manager and the owner came out from the kitchen with "an attitude." He said that no, it's not on the menu but it's HIS policy. All this plus the food was mediocre at best. I'll never go back to this restaurant, and I would advise others to stay away also. more

Three of us dined here on Wednesday evening and had rotten calamari and old wilted greens on a salad. The calamari had the worst smell I have even encountered. I asked to speak to the chef but he was too much of a coward to leave the kitchen. Health dept has been contacted. more

The bread and pesto butter were wonderful but the antipasto was a big disappointment. The meats were more like from plastic packages than from the deli counter. The Genoa salami was especially bad. After that, things got a lot better. The snapper and chicken marsala were good and the farfalle aurora was very good. The service was excellent. \r We would definitly go back. more

We arrived at the restaurant on a Friday evening at 6:30 pm and only one other table was occupied. The restaurant appeared to clean and the music was very enjoyable albeit a little too loud. The service was impeccable. \r \r Now onto the food. We ordered a mussel and clam special that was terrific. The ingredients were fresh and they were served in a very light sauce/broth that was great. Our other appetizer was a shrimp crostini dish that, in my opinion, was even better than the mussels and clams. \r \r The entrees were a disappointment. I ordered the pork chop special. Esthetically, the dish was marvelous. The chop was served with roasted potatoes and asparagus. If presentation mattered, the dish should have been wonderful, unfortunately it doesn't. The potatoes, which had been roasted and pressed into a mold, were luke warm at best and flavorless. The asparagus were overcooked. The pork chop was so dry that it was virtually inedible but it wasn't only the dryness that was the problem, it tasted somewhat rancid . Perhaps it was their choice of seasonings. Two other people in our party ordered a pasta dish consisting of penne; a meatball; a piece of sausage and a braised beef rib in a tomato sauce. Being Italian, and having made tomato sauce (we actually call it gravy) for my entire adult life, it's flavor is very important. The seasonings used seem to have a very artificial taste. The meatball was very hard, something my husband finds particularly unpalatable. The last dish we ordered was Veal Sorrentino. When ordering, the last member of our party inquired about whether or not the veal was battered or breaded? The waiter explained that it was lightly battered. When the dish arrived, the veal was lightly battered but the eggplant was breaded and fried, leaving her to try to remove the breading. It was served over pasta which appeared to be drowned in some sort of greasy looking sauce.\r \r We would go back but for the appetizers only. more

We arrived at Dolce for breakfast around 11am. There were a few people eating, but no staff in sight. We waited 5 minutes just to be acknowledged. Then we waited another 5 minutes to get a menu. Then we waited another 10 minutes to try to place an order. The woman, perhaps the owner, was very loud and had quite a personality. She had a name for everyone and was wearing some Yankees gear. \r \r I ordered a coffee and a water. The coffee was bitter and I didn't get the water. She came back and took our order, I asked if they had muffins. She had no idea, but would check.\r \r Food came out 20 minutes later. Asked again about the muffin, she had to check again. Asked again for a water.\r \r Eventually she came back and said they "found" a muffin. I asked if I could have it grilled. "She had to check"\r \r Eventually she brought me a scalding hot costco muffin that was microwaved so long it was untouchable and mushy. She said they cannot grill muffins. Asked for the water for the 3rd time.\r \r Back to the food. Well my eggs and potatoes came with a side of salad on my plate. No idea what this is about, but the balsamic doesn't mix well with eggs.\r \r The mushy potatoes in a circle shape had a sour taste to them like sour cream or bad milk.\r \r The eggs were tasteless. I don't know how you can even make bad scrambled eggs,. but they were.\r \r The cold dry toast was also terrible. I would have put something on it, but you have to ask for everything 6 times before you may receive it. Nothing was on the table such as jelly.\r \r My sister ordered a salad which consisted 90% of cheap bitter greens that most people don't like.\r \r My mother ordered french toast on challah which is quite thick so it needs to be cooked thoroughly. It wasn't.\r \r She also asked for suger free syrup which went in one ear and out the other. Even when she delivered the food we asked again, is this sugar free? She of course said it was, but it wasn't.\r \r Once again wait to find the ONLY staff member, ask again for the syrup that was ordered and asked for twice.\r \r This place is a joke at least for breakfast. Slow unreliable service, missing items, terrible food. If I wasn't with my family trying to have a nice meal I would have spoke up.\r \r I will never set food in the "cafe" again more

The place is Small with a very accommodating Staff that makes you feel at home, However the food and coffee not good in any way. We ordered Eggs Benedict with a little Italian Twist, (What a Mistake). The Bread underneath is a Ciabatta Bread and instead of Canadian Bacon they fried little pieces of Prosciutto. They Slathered in Olive oil on top of the poached eggs and I don't know what kind of sauce they mix with it , but that is for sure not Hollandaise Sauce. I took a couple of bites and so did my friend. We left the whole thing on the table, Paid the $30 for it and left the place. Worst $30 ever spent on a Breakfast. Just Horrible. more

Good variety of food tastefully made with adequate portions. Prompt and pleasant service in a very pleasing and comfortable surrounding. Located in the art district of Delray known as Pineapple Groove. Outdoor tables make it confortable to eat outside during a comfortable day or night as well. Every dish that I've had is memorable yet the veal steak is one of my favorites. Great for couples, family and small groups. Highly recommend it if your in Delray or viciinity. more

I have searched all over South Florida for New York Style Italian food and finally found it at Dolce Amore Cafe. The Mussels are to die for, you can make a meal out of the Mussels and a loaf of bread. Everything from start to finish was delicious. The service, food and the staff made our visit exactly what we were looking for in a dining experience. Every visit, the food is better each time. I could not recommend this restaurant enough!! Easy to get to and parking was a dream. If you visit Delray, this restaurant is a must. Don't forget to order the mussels!! Chicken Parm and Meatballs for the non seafood eaters!! more

Great place for dinner, food was plentiful, food was fresh and tasted delicious, presentation with utmost attention on every dish. Service was delightfull, courteous, and very attentive to our needs Would highly recommend this establishment, and I will be back in the future for another great meal. Chef/Owner came out to the dining room and introduced himself to his dining guests and chatted with them. Very professional, wish him very much success. more

I took my elderly mother on her birthday to Dolce Amore Cafe in the heart of Pineapple Groveand we were treated like family.\r \r The colorful atmosphere was very warm and inviting and the restaurant and restroom - SPOTLESS!\r \r The Eggplant Capresse was fabulous and the Veal Sorrentino topped with prosciutto, mozzarela and mushrooms was out of this world.\r \r The portions went beyond generous, they were BIG and fairly priced. My mother had a wonderful time and so did I.\r \r I been back twice, once for breakfast and lunch, again Dolce delivered with a most satisfying menu and friendly disposition. The soups and salads are delicious and there's always more than your money's worth in each plate.\r But, just take my word, the next time you're in the mood for delicious Italian food, experience Dolce Amore Cafe in person, you'll be back.\r Thanks Dolce! more

We tried this cafe the other weekend for brunch, and we won't be back. There was only one other occupied table in the place, so it was pretty quiet. The confused decor is a bright orange and blue and a cross between a pizzeria and a sports bar. Not romantic or charming at all. Plates were dirty, and coffee mugs were cracked and chipped (and not in a good rustic way). The omlettes were overdone, the homefries were basically deep fried potatoes mashed into a cylindrical shape...don't ask. Everything lacked flavor. When asked for a bottle of ketchup, the server returned with a tiny ramakin which was dirty as well. more

I have eaten here plenty of times, and all I can say is that each time I come here, I am more astounded by the food that is served and the quality of the wait staff. The house salad was simple, but fresh and nice, and the soup du jour (Italian Wedding) was better than my mom's! Out of all the entrees I've ordered, my favorite was the veal chop parmesan, it was delicious. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the Delray area who is looking for great quality food. more
