Ok, so for starters.. I just moved to the atlanta area last april. I actually work about 5 minutes from doc's. I've drove by the place atleast 100 times but never stopped in. Well, i was living in the downtown area and just got a condo down the street from docs. I decided to come in for a drink one night after work. it was a long stressful day at work and thought a drink would help. well my server (janice) was terrible! lol thats just a nice way to describe how i felt i was being treated. she came to the table and seemed a bit overwhelmed. she asked for my id, which is very understandable. i told her to come back because my purse was a mess and that i would have it ready. before i could even find it she had a manager come to the table asking if there was an issue with my id???? really???? lol i actually thought she was going to be nice. well i still was being nice. even with this bad experience left her a 9 dollar tip. decided to come back with my id in hand. i just decided to come back last friday night. the server i had this time was cierra. it was me and 4 other friends. i can actually say, she is the reason i will be coming back to doc's on a regular basis. she automatically came to the table was very polite, asked how our night was going and initiated conversation and then asked for our id's. she was super busy, but not once were our drinks empty and not once did she give any bit of attitude. our food was amazing, service was prompt and cierra i can honestly say has become my favorite servers since i moved to atlanta. she had a very positive attitude and i enjoyed that she tries to build a relationship with her customers even when she doesnt know them. it made me feel at home. so i can say overall i appreciate the service at docs and the only reason im giving 3 stars is because of my 1st experience. cierra deserves 5 stars though more

Cool Place 3/30/2012

I recently went to Doc's and what I appreciated about it was that it was a lot like Cheers. The staff actually knew their customers by name. I thought that was cool. I also liked their chicken wings. Prices are affordable, and that's important in today's economy. I'd recommend Doc's to my friends. more

I would recommend Doc's anytime 3/30/2012

Enu's review below does not in any way describe the great experience I had ad Doc's. First of all, I've been there several time. I've never seen a skinner red-headed manager. The manager I've always dealt with has had black hair and a beard. And I have always found him to be professional and polite. Doc's has always honored the coupons I've taken there too. The food is good. The drinks are even better. The servers are nice. There used to be a server there named Elizabeth who was really good. I wish she would come back. She did a great job. But the other servers do a good job too. On weekends they have live music, and that's fun. And I like playing pool on their pool table. I always recommend Doc's to my friends. Now I will tell them not to pay any attention to Enu. more

DO NOT GO!!! 3/26/2012

WASTE OF TIME!!! My wife & I went there on Friday night 03/23/12 because we had a restaraunt dot com coupon $25 off of a purchase of at least $35 (Only stipulations on coupon was had to be dine in, use at one time & No Alcohol - There was no mention of days of week & it stated No expiration date). We went in and first off the place is disgusting and smoke filled. Service was terrible. We sat at a table and got our own menus. 10-15 minutes later our waitress arrived (No complaints towards her - She was new so it wasn't smooth but she wasn't rude or anything). We showed her the coupon right away and ordered our food since we had a lot of time to look over the menu. She placed the order (at least I think she did) about 15-20 mins. went by and the waitress came back & said that the manager wanted to see the coupon. I gave it to her and a couple mins. later the manager (Skinny redneck white guy with glasses) came to our table and said that they recently severed there relationship with restaraunt dot com and the will not honor the coupon. He also said even though it doesnt state no weekends use they would not honor it on the weekend as well. I looked at him confused and said so your not going to honor this and he said no and walked away!!! Great Customer Service!!! We will never give them our business Ever!!! Do Not Waste Your Time With This Crappy Place!!! We waited about 45 mins. total just to be told that we can not use a coupon that we bought off a site that they promote off of. To make matters worse we got home and got an email from Restaraunt dot com asking us how our experience was at Docs basically meaning he punched in the code from the coupon trying to claim we used it so they basically tried/are trying to steal from Restaraunt dot com. We have already put in a claim with restaraunt dot com so they dont give them the money they shouldnt get. more

Go To Doc's When You're In Atlanta 3/22/2012

I recently visited the Atlanta area, and a friend invited me to Doc's. I thought we were just going to a smoky bar. Oh, no. If you're familiar with the TV show Cheers, then you have an idea of how Doc's is. Everybody knows everybody else. The owners are professional and courteous. The bartenders know their skills. The food is delicious! And on weekends, the music adds a casual, relaxing ambiance. Sometimes they have games where customers can win prizes, like free drinks. It's a great place. Go there if you're ever in Atlanta. more

What a great time! 3/22/2012

My husband and I have noticed Doc's on Hwy 41 for years and went in during trivia last Tuesday night. We LOVED it! Our server was delightful, brought us our drinks (and what potent cocktails they were!) quickly, and provided excellent descriptions of menu items. My husband had lemon pepper wings, and I had the medium hot buffalo wings. Both were super delicious. The trivia contest was lively and good-natured. The MC periodically asked a question "outside of the game" that anyone in the bar could answer. The first person to get it right won a free drink! We've recommended Doc's to several of our friends, and we cannot wait to go back there! more

HORRIBLE! 5/16/2011

First and foremost, THEY HAVE ROACHES! This is definitely a neighborhood hole in the wall. The service was bad and the manager is an a**hole! The food wasn't even good. This was my first and last time at this spot. I gave one star because a rating of 0 wasn't allowed. more

Never happen again 4/11/2011

Yuck. The waitress suggested the buffet, but everything was the same color - beige. Popcorn shrimp, mashed potatoes, corn, macaroni. We ordered a couple of oyster po boys and got soft hoagie rolls with 3 oysters. I asked for cocktail sauce, tomato, etc. and got "The stuff is on the table. You DO know how to make it, DON'T YOU?" more

Ew! Today's special: illegal drugs and bad food 2/10/2011

Docs may have been around for a while, but I won't be contributing to their lasting presence in Smyrna. The bar food is average, drinks are fine, but I'd stick with something factory-bottled, I don't trust the cleanliness of the glasses. It's incredibly smoky and I was actually offered drugs for sale in the bathroom - and I'm not exactly putting off a "sell me something" image. Sketchy is the best word that I can use. more

WORST FOOD IN ATLANTA 12/7/2010

Went to Atlanta to visit family during the Thanksgiving holiday and decided to have dinner at Doc's the night before leaving town. What a HUGE mistake. This was the worst dining experience I have EVER had. Although the restaurant was not packed we waited at the door for several minutes before we were finally acknowledged and told that we could seat ourselves. We waited several more minutes for the waitress to approach the table. (After such a horrible dining experience I wish she had never come to the table.) First, the cheddar and broccoli soup was too salty for us to finish. (Turns it this was the best part of the meal!!!) We ordered lemon pepper wings, which tasted like they were soaked in a bucket of lemon juice for a month. Needless to say, out of 12 wings, we were only able to choke down four. We then received our dinner. (We would have been better off with a bowl of dog food.) The sirloin steak, ordered medium well was so tough that we could barely cut it with the knife. It had absolutely no seasoning. (Maybe they used it all in the soup and chicken wings.) The steak was also extremely tough. We could only eat one bite. The baked potato served with the steak was rotten. When we informed the waitress of the problems with the meal she apologized and said that she would send the manager to speak with us. Ironically, he showed up at our table and introduced himself as we waited for our soup. But refused to come to hear our complaints. I will never EVER return to this restaurant. We would have been much better off eating at McDonald's, where at least the food is edible and managers tend to address customers' concerns. They should be ashamed to call themselves a restaurant. I would not give this food to an animal!!!! By the way, one star is much too high! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

decently priced strong drinks 2/18/2010

Good spot to play some pool if you come early enough to get a table. They also have darts. If you come here you got to try the sour cream and chive fries. They are really good with ranch dressing! I think they should get an air cleaner. I don't mind most places that are smokey if they have decent ventilation, but this place is pretty bad. Don't wear anything that you don't want to wash the next day (like a nice coat or jacket). Pros: sour cream and chive fries Cons: too smokey more

Beware of Roaches!!!! 10/1/2009

I was there eating with a friend and she looked up past me covering her mouth. I asked her what was wrong. She just stared so I turned around and there was a roach just crawling along the back of my booth seat. Are you kidding me???? I stood up, paid my check, and left. I started to tell Management about that but I let it go. That is one restaurant that will not be visited by me and my friend again. Be careful eating there!!!! Watch out for the roaches that's trying to join you!! Pros: Food is Fine Cons: Roaches!!! more

Best neighborhood bar in metro Atlanta 1/21/2009

Smoking is voluntary at Doc's. Inhaling is not. A sign on the front door explains that this is a smoking establishment. The very best review would be, if you don't like it, don't come back. If you choose to come again, take smaller breaths. more

Very good Happy Hour from 5 to 7pm with a minimum purchase but a thick layer of cigarette smoke 11/8/2008

Very good Happy Hour from 5 to 7pm with a minimum purchase. But really bad - a thick layer of cigarette smoke during its busy hours inside. Hardly to breathe! There is none for no smoking section! Very good potato skin! Pros: Happy Hours Cons: a thick layer of cigarette smoke more

Don't do it, unless you want to hang with thugs 10/5/2007

Doc's has become the new hangout for thugs once the sun goes down. Sketchy, sketchy crowd that instigate fights for their own childish perversion. I would suggest going to Laseter's before even considering going to Doc's. And, no, I don't work at Laseter's! more

Great Food 12/27/2006

WOW< What great Burgers and What a steak SANDWICH!!!Drinks are Great!!! Don't order a soft drink with your meal...no refills and they serve them in a 6oz glass....Great Music on the weekends. SLOW but friendly service!! Pros: Food, Entertainment Cons: Can be smokey!!! Slow paced more

Horrible Food, even worse service 9/1/2006

We visited on a Saturday night. They were not busy, so they can not use that as an excuse for the horrible service. The waitress barely checked on us at all. We sat for several minutes before she came over at all, and then when she came back and brought us our drinks, she did not even ask if we were ready to order. My food was completely unedible, not that I could complain before everyone else was done eating because the waitress did not come to check on us even once while we were eating. And then she sat 2 tables away smoking while we all sat for at least 20 mintues waiting for our check. We will never go back. Pros: good live entertainment on weekends Cons: horrible food and service more

Changed my mine 1/18/2006

After going to this bar for the last 5 years it has gone down hill. The waitresses keep getting worse and after being ripped off on my bill tonight I'm done. I had a buy one get one free coupon that was still good and they would not honor it. The happy hour bar wasn't even restocked after the first hour. The drinks are cheap but they are not worth it, which is a shame. Ellen Thompson needs to start visiting her bar more often and picking up the slack. I'm very upset after all the money I have spent there over the years. Obviously they do not care about the regulars. Pros: Strong drinks Cons: Can get crowded, SLOW service. more

Great Food-Great Patrons-Great Service 8/22/2002

If you stop by Doc's more than once, the staff remembers your name, what you drink, and how you like it served. Newcomers are always made to feel welcome and you get more than your money's worth! more
