Editorial review from Citysearch 4/19/2013

I have taken my dog and my daughter's dog here for about a year. The last two times that they groomed my dog I asked them if they could reshape the muzzle - even though I had shown them a picture of how I wanted them to shape his muzzle from a previous cut they had done. When I asked this time, the groomer took my dog back into the grooming area, the owner snickered and said, ""I told you so...."" and all four groomers started snickering. I asked them if they were snickering because I asked for my dog's muzzle to be reshaped. No one said anything, and the snickering stopped. I was shocked at this kind of customer treatment. I would understand if I was a high maintenance customer or if I didn't tip well. However, this was completely unprofessional and uncalled for. I won't be back. There are plenty of good groomers in the area that might not be as convenient to get to, but are a heck of lot nicer and more professional. more

Wagging All the Way 12/31/2011

I rarely write these reviews but ran across these negative reviews and wanted to add another perspective. We have been going to DDDO for several years, our Golden gets easily stressed, has a bad back and does not like to get baths. We tried several places in the Atlanta area, but have found that our dog is happiest at DDDO. He runs in wagging his tail all the way and the staff always know who he is and what he unique personality needs are and accomodate. Thank you for making this a place to take our dog so he can look his best and be happy doing it! more

Yikes! 12/20/2011

Wish I could write a good review. We had been taking our dog to DDDO for quite a while to get him groomed. All was going well until we decided to ask them to trim his nails. What a disaster. My wife and I did not notice at first, but they had cut his nails back WAY too far - down to the nerve endings. The next morning I took him for a walk before dawn. When got into the garage, I saw for the first time he was bleeding profusely from 2 different nails. he bled all over our garage floor. when i took him back to DDDO to show them what they had done, they told me it was not their fault, and that he must have done this to himself. they came up w all kinds of fanciful scenarios to try to explain it (i have had my dog 10 years). UNBELIEVABLE! he continued to have bleeding problems for several weeks. we will not go back again - we do not trust them to take good care of our dog. wish i could post pics here to show you what he looked like - a mess. more

Approach with Caution 11/17/2011

I had heard really good things about this place. I never make the effort to write reviews. Unfortunately, the owner and her staff were rude, my dog came back scared, and when I asked how everything went, they lectured me about my dog being insecure and that I was probably passing my insecurities off on my dog. They may be correct in what they were saying, but their delivery was pretty harsh. Glad others had a good experience, but if your dog likes to be coddled, even a little, I would not suggest taking him/her to Dirty Dogs Day Out. more

my dog love's it 11/16/2011

My dog hates getting a bath yet when I take her here she pulls me in the door, tail wagging. I have never had any problems with rudeness. We have only gotten baths here, no trimming etc but we have been here about 8 times and have always been pleased. more

Awfully rude owner 7/7/2011

Unprofessional, rude owner with a nasty attitude - will treat you like crap - do not take your pet here. They don't deserve your business. more

You'll be happier taking your dog somewhere else. 6/14/2011

I took my dog for grooming a week and a half ago. When I picked him up 4 hours later, there were places that had not even been clipped. I was told by the groomer that it was the fault of the comb. When I called to give the owner (Kris) the opportunity to make things right, she stated that I could bring my dog in this morning and they would redo his cut. When I took him in and showed her the places that had not even been clipped, she was extremely rude and refused to listen to anything I had to say. She has extremely poor people and customer service skills. She refused to redo the cut and then told me to leave the premises and to never bring my dog in there again. She refused to give me a refund. I will tell everyone I know of that has a dog not to go there for services. The place was dirty and they allow all of the dogs regardless of size to run together whether they have been groomed or not. If I want playtime for mine, I will take him to the dogpark. If I want a grooming, I will certainly take him to a different groomer. more

Best groomer in Atlanta, don't listen to the sour reviews below! 3/9/2009

I have been using this place for 3 years now and would NEVER consider switching. It took me far too long to find a good groomer and this is the first place my dog's tail actually wags when we walk in the door. The staff is unbelieveably friendly, courteous and professional. I can only imagine how rude and ridiculous the below reviewers were to make the staff supposedly act rude back. You get more bees with honey people!!\r \r Cage free is great for dogs that are socialized and know how to interact with other dogs. I LOVE that my dog can play or just sit and hang out when she isn't being worked on. She hates cages so this really works for her. If you dog isn't socialized like some of the reviews below state then simply don't bring your dog here. Its not the groomers fault! Also, the groomers keep the place very clean and clean up after each haircut so you do not need to worry about your dog running around in ""dirt, poo and hair."" \r \r Obviously you can't please everyone, but this place is wonderful and it makes my life so much easier knowing that my dog is stress free and happy when she is at the groomers! more

Always Thoughtful and Caring about My Dog 2/12/2009

kris and her staff are very sweet to my dog and knows how to read her. she has complied with all my concerns and really makes every attempt to ensure the safety of all the dogs. the grooming is always excellent. the groomers are always in a great mood whenever i am in the shop and whenever i am walking in to pick up my dog i can see the attitude of everyone. i love being able to watch from outside and that gives me a great sense of comfort. i like the size of the shop, it is large. i have requested my dog to stay in a crate before and after her grooming. kris is always very open to my wants and needs as well as my dog's. i will continue to bring her to this shop. sandy is always very happy to be there and very happy to come home. she always looks great and smells so good and feels so soft. kris does a wonderful grooming. Pros: my dog always looks and smells great and she is happy. the shop is always busy Cons: timing for an appointment - however that tells me she is busy for a reason more

Cage Free is not always a good idea! 12/3/2008

I agree somewhat with the previous review. However the owner seemed nice and the haircut was good. I do want to note the negatives to a cage free facility. Most owners see it as a fun play time for their dog. However, grooming can be stressful as it is for some dogs and to put them in a situation where they have to also deal with many other dogs can be overwhelming. Some dogs like barking, mouthing, and ruff housing, but what about the dogs that don't? They are left to fend for themselves usually in a corner and if they can not handle it where so they go....well a crate! I caution owners to consider the pluses and minuses of a cage free salon. If your dog comes home and is exhausted from his ""playtime at the groomers"" it may not be because he had ""fun"" it may be the stress. In addition, I agree with the previous reviewer about the cleanliness of a cage free facility. I prefer if my dog does not wallow around in other dogs hair waiting to be cut and then after they are freshly groomed. Pros: Nice quality haircut Cons: Cage free and very long wait list for appoinments more

Caution!!! 10/29/2008

I just want to say I'm never going to use this shop again. I don't even know where to start. First, the owner has dirty dogs, clean dogs, and groomed dogs all running around together in the room that they use for grooming. I mean the whole reason I'm getting my dog groomed was so he could get clean, not so someone else's dog could step in feces and rub it all over my dog. Second, the owner is sooooooooo rude and un-personable you feel like she is always talking down to you. Can anyone say PMS. Finally, my dog's groom was burning average, but I wouldn't tell the owner that, she might bite my head off! Pros: location Cons: owner's attitude more

Happy Dogs 10/29/2008

I take my three dogs to Dirty Dogs Day Out consistently and have always picked them up feeling very happy that they hardly notice that I am there because they are tired from playing. I have had terrible experiences with groomers in the past and have often questioned whether or not my dogs were safe in the groomers hands. I have complete confidence that my dogs are in great hands and that the groomers love what they do. \r \r In reference to the complaint above, I would most definitely worry more about finding another groomer that would take on a matted dog safely and return it in good shape then having the owner bow down to me. Good luck with that. Pros: Cage Free, Nice Groomers more

Absolutely Fabulous! 10/29/2008

I absolutely LOVE this shop. Seriously, I have 3 dogs and they can all be a real handful. Kris and the girls always take incredible care of my dogs, and they always come out looking fabulous! One of my dogs is very skittish with being dried, and I had a bad experience with a former groomer. I was so happy to see my baby running and playing and not in a cage!!! This is the only shop I will use from now on! Pros: great groomers, no cages, genuine love of animals more

This groomer damaged my dog's cornea! 9/17/2008

My dog's cornea was damaged while being groomed, because the groomer didn't use an ointment in the eyes that protects the cornea from damage like this - the vet said it was probably a piece of hair or some shampoo that got in the eye. I took my $245 emergency vet bill and my dog (with an E-Collar around his neck, and an oozing, closed eye) to the groomer, to see what she felt she should do to compensate for this. Knowing it was a fluke, and nothing intentionally done, I never asked for money back - only for a credit of my $245 towards future cuts, since I'd always been pleased with their grooming in the past. I was polite, and even uncomfortable having to talk to her about this, since I had always liked her in the past, and thought she liked me and my dog. The owner was instead, extremely rude, unprofessional, and defensive, accepting no blame, and admitting no fault. Said she didn't know of this ointment, even though the vet was surprised she didn't use it. Instead of apologizing, she insulted me and my dog because I like his hair long - I take him to the groomer when the hair gets so long that mats start to develop, even though I brush his hair out. So, when I take him, he usually has a few mats - that's why I pay $70 plus a $10 tip - because I know it's a big job. The owner said the injury is the risk I take whenever I take my dog to a place with other dogs and hair flying around. She didn't want to compensate me at all, but finally offered 2 cuts' credit as she walked away from me. I was very shocked and disappointed at her lack of professionalism and courtesy towards me, and the about-face in her demeanor with me as soon as she realized my dog had been injured and I wanted some kind of compensation. I went on to pay an additional $83 for 2 vet follow-up visits, so the entire ordeal ended up costing me $408, and my dog alot of pain and discomfort. Pros: location Cons: lack of professionalism when problems arise, precautions not taken to protect eyes during grooming more
