A Great Experience The Desert Museum 7/15/2005

Anytime we have out of town guests, the Desert Museum is top on the list. It is beautiful and relaxing. There are several dining options- we usually just get ice cream and eat on the patio but they have a very nice restaurant. There is alot of walking involved- and some of the paths are dirt and steep. There are wheelchairs if needed. The hummingbird habitat is incredible. Here you can see all the different animals, fish, and insects we have in the desert. Kids love it. Everyone we have taken loves it! Rates depend on the season- Adults are $9-12, kids are$4-2 and ages 5 and under are free. more

Learn about the Desert 7/15/2005

The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum is a wealth of knowledge about the area we live in. The indoor viewing areas of reptiles and amphibians are wonderful as are the aquatic displays. The nephews love the earth science section with the cave you can go through and the selection of minerals to look at. There is a dump heap where you can look for rocks and minerals too. Kids also enjoy the archaeological dig area where they can look for dinosaur "bones." There are spots to take a rest and get an ice cream and wonderful underwater viewing areas of beavers and otters. The cougar den is a favorite of mine. more
