Beware Improper Billing 5/17/2011

While my experience with the actual dentist and hygenist was good, the ladies at reception who handle billing are extremely rude and attempted to overcharge me and refused to call my insurance while I was there to verify what my costs should be. I called again about billing and was treated very rudely by Dolores. After talking with my insurance I was charged over $300 more than I should have been. If you go here, which I advise against, be very careful to check with your insurance about what you are responsible for paying and make sure everything is correct up front. Overall, the whole experience was a nightmare. more

WARNING: If looking for a Dentist...DO NOT GO HERE! 12/13/2010

I recently moved to another part of town and needed to find another Dentist closer to my new home. I looked up my insurance ""in-network"" dental offices and Vinings Dental was one just a couple of miles away. I made an appointment for just a regular check up and cleaning. \r During the appointment, I was told I needed SRP on both lower back teeth and I would need a check up every 4 months. Little did I know that my insurance did not cover this and that there was an additional $50 deductible. To my surprise, the SRP procedure was actually same as a regular cleaning. I contacted my insurance to inquire about the deductible and they said that I did not have one for a regular cleaning. I then called the Dentist office and they told me I had this procedure done and it required a deductible....what bologna! They provided a regular cleaning and charged me over $350 dollars for what they call SRP procedures. I would be very cautious visiting this dental group and highly recommend you go elsewhere. I have notified the insurance company of their shady practice and will be submitting a complaint to the BBB. more

Excellent, professional service 9/17/2009

I visited Dr. Perez with a tooth that turned out to be an emergency procedure before going out of town for two weeks. I scheduled an appt to have it looked at and based on that and my pain level, they worked on me right then. Then a few weeks later, another tooth became very sensitive to temperature. Dr. Perez found that my tooth had broken down the middle and needed a crown. A few days later, the same tooth went bad and needed a root canal. When I went back (also same day service when I called) he said…you didn’t show any signs of this so I didn’t do one when we put the crown on. I was very pleased at the level of professional ethics in not recommending or performing a procedure I didn’t need at the time. I’ve found the office staff to be very friendly and helpful. I’ve found the dental assistants to be pleasant, professional and concerned about my comfort level while in the chair. Dr. Perez is knowledgeable, efficient and very professional and very pleasant as well. And the whole group was so patient with me because I am a total wimp when it comes to mouth pain! I picked these guys out of my dental HMO provider book. I am so happy to have found a great dentist and would recommend them to anyone! \r Pros: Very responsive to patient needs more

I just experienced my first visit with Dr. Aaron K. Larsen and it was a fabulous experience!!! His entire staff was very professional and courteous, they have a very clean office environment, the most up-to-date equipment, and affordable prices. Great experience . . . Trusted dental care 7/17/2009

My family and I have been going to Vinings Dental for well over seven years. The staff is always courteous and professional. Before any work is performed they provide an estimate of the total cost, including what portion the insurance carrier will pay. I trust the treatment recommendations that Dr. Larsen makes and the skill he brings to his profession. He has a pleasant, easy going manner that will put you at ease. Most importantly his work has stood the test of time, which is the ultimate recommendation I can make. Pros: Trusted dentist and staff more

Hmm..... 12/9/2008

I along with my spouse and kids had been a patient there for a few years. We too experienced the "" gum disease"" diagnosis and at first panicked because we know the importance of good oral hygeine and what can happen if you don't take care of your teeth. We went in for cleanings and ended up with a huge bill and our teeth still felt like they needed cleaned. Not once did they do the normal routine of polishing and scaling. As one reviewer said, "" get a second opinion"". We made a trek to our favorite dentist, who lives out of state, and he assured us that we didn't have poor oral hygeine. We trust him to be honest because he has been in practice for some time and he is of all things, a family member! If you are not sure of a diagnosis, seek a 2nd opinion. It can't hurt and could save you more in the long run. Pros: Nice office staff Cons: Turnover of employees, questionable periodontal treatment and procedures more

Very thorough 7/1/2008

I have never had a dentist take so much time to evaluate my oral health. I have been going there for 6 months and I feel so much better about my smile! My gums don't hurt any more when I floss and they have really motivated me to keep things clean. I agree with the other user that said just because you don't agree with the diagnosis doesn't mean it is wrong! I highly recommend this office and my wife and I will continue to be their patients. Pros: Clean, comfortable, thorough more

Not recommended Dental Services - Go here if you want to watch movies on nice plasma TV 's 4/4/2008

I agree with the other folks who have had left bad reviews on this web site regarding this Dental Office. They had me doing expensive cleannings all the time I went for a regular cleanning. They said I had gum problems and that I needed all these cleannings, plus expensive wash mouth, and other treatments that really I didn't need. I recently changed dentists and my new dentist was surprised to see they had been treating me for a dissease I didn't have. He only performed a regular cleanning for wich I didn't even had to pay my $25 co-pay. This was a very nice surprise as I was used to spend $250 to $300 on every visit I did to Vinings Dental.\r Please, be aware! A nice waiting room with plasma TVs everywhere do not mean they will be professional and reliable when it comes to your $$. Besides, they have to come up with some kind of fund to pay for the nice TVs!!\r Pros: people were ""friendly"" Cons: very expensive, not professional when it comes to be honest and telling patients what they have and they don't have. Want to make money from you and the insurance companies. more

On The Contrary, We Had a Good Experience 11/27/2007

In my recent search for a new, good and convenient dentist for myself and 9 year old, an Aunt and friend suggested I tried the family dentistry that they use and enjoy. While I trust their judgement, I naturally went online to learn more about them before scheduling. I took note of the less than favorable reviews previously posted, however, the two personal referrals that I received were more recent and I decided to call the dental practice to inquire. I mentioned that current patients referred me, and that I was a little concerned about the reviews posted on their practice. The office was aware and seemed equally concerned about the negative image painted of them and while I have no way of knowing what took place with those who felt so badly about the practice, I must say that Dr. Larsen and the staff that I met (Amy, Ann, Delores) showed my daughter an I a nice first experience. The dentist and his assistants were thorough, gentle, informative, friendly and professional. Dr. Larsen discussed his findings and OPTIONS on treatments that he recommended and/or provided. He referred another dental specialist to me for another concern as well as provided me with out of pocket pricing on the treatment that he offered beyond my insurance coverage, should I choose to continue with him, which I believe I will. As a consumer, I truly appreciate being given my options so that I may understand, research and make an informed decision and this dental practice gets a thumbs up from me. Pros: Convenient, Professional, Friendly more

Not Trustworthy 10/22/2007

I've come to the realization that something is not quite right at this practice. They change hygenists as if nothing and no one notifies you of it. These hygenists have diagnosed my husband and myself with gum disease and now they want me to do a procedure under the gums that'll cost about $3000. I've been cleaning with them about 4 times a year and it has made my gums recede even more, and the idea behind it was to prevent exactly that from happening. Everytime my husband and I are done with a cleaning, we leave with a bottle of something and some toothpaste. I don't know where it ends. I don't like Dr. Perez.. I don't know why ,I don't trust him but it's just a gut feeling. He totally supports the surgery and I think they are such scammers. It seems like they are running a factory there, churning out high profits at patients' expense. Pros: location Cons: doctor and hygenists more

Good practice 10/5/2007

I've always had good experiences with this practice. I've never been pushed to do procedures, and have very good treatment and service. I don't understand the other comments on ""scams on gum disease."" If you don't agree with the diagnosis, get another opinion. But, just because you don't like the diagnosis, doesn't mean it isn't correct. Pros: Staff, Location more

AVOID VININGS DENTAL! 8/31/2007

I couldn't agree more with the first review. WHAT A SCAM! I was also diagnosed with the beginning stages of gum disease and so was my husband. They refused to clean our teeth unless we agreed to this expensive procedure and bought the mouthwash, toothpaste, etc. It doesn't stop there! When I questioned the price and said, ""my insurance should cover more of the costs"" they completely ignored me and billed the wrong insurance company! It took to over 6 months to get my refund! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO VININGS DENTAL! Pros: Location Cons: Everything else more

What a scam 4/18/2007

I have used citysearch for years now but have never been so disappointed that I felt compelled to write a review. I have seen time and time again people come out of this place with a kit to fight gum disease and spoke with someone this weekend who was diagnosed with the same. I can't tell you how many people I've talked with who have been diagnosed with the same problem, and of course it comes with a hefty price tag. They've gotten money from me and many others in addition to scarying people with their scam. Pros: Nice office, convenient location. Cons: I feel that I should be able to trust my doctor. more

Horrible practice 1/22/2007

I went to Vinings dental to have a crown put in. It fell out. So I went back and they put it back in. Well it fell out again! So I went back and the doctor that worked on me was no longer there and I had a new doctor...Dr. Perez. Dr. Perez said that the other doctor put the crown in wrong and that we are going to have to re-do it. Okay well they charged me for it even though they were the ones that put it in wrong. 6 months later it fell out again. I go back and they tell me that I'm going to have to get a whole new procedure done that costs twice as much as what was done before and that I have no other options! At that point I left. Try to avoid these scam artists if you can. more
