Sail Ahead of the Fleet 8/26/2008

Delfino is one of those places that you think about when you are ""not"" there. The memory of a meal lingers deep in your psche long after the experience is over. The restaurant is warm, vibrant, and aromatic like a neighborhood european bistro. The food is straightforward, lovingly prepared and elegantly served. There is no pretense here, no posturing, no condescension or patronizing waitstaff. There's a wine list that's varied and affordable and to puctuate the evening, the very best chocolate bread budding on planet earth. I am proud to admit that in the armada of mediocre eateries, Delfino sails the seas alone well ahead of the fleet.. Pros: everything Cons: no reservations accepted more

Good food, poor atmosphere. 6/15/2008

Sure, the food is good. But it's countered by the long waits (no reservations) and cramped, noisy atmosphere. There are other really good restaurants in Roslindale that are worth a try, such as Bangkok Cafe just around the corner or Gusto down the street. Pros: good food Cons: noisy, cramped, no reservations, long wait more

love this place 2/26/2008

We love this place. To start with no matter who works there the staff are on top of it at all times, very welcoming and friendly They serve piping hot freshly made great testing food consistently every time we go. The big chuncks of locally made bread round out any meal You can sit at a table or at the bar overlooking the kitchen and watch things heat up. It takes a village to run this place and everyone does there part well. You can pop in for a hearty meal or you can go all out and dine. My only recommendation is that you keep spending or move it along. There is always someone behind you wating to get in your seat. Pros: consistently great food and service Cons: people tend to not remember what it was like for them to wait for a table more

Better than the North End 6/13/2007

My husband's New York Italian parents have tried the North End several times during visits to Boston, but Delfinos is the only place they want to eat, now. My husband likes the Fra' Diablo and I'm a fan of the overstuffed pasta rounds (a vegetarian treat). Everything comes oversized, so there are always plenty of leftovers to look forward to, and for the price, it's a bargain. I highly recommend sitting at the bar that looks into the kitchen. It's amazing what the cooks can do with such a small amount of space. Pros: High class local eatery, service Cons: Space is a little cramped sometimes more

A Fabulous Find 8/8/2005

Our first trip to quaint Delfino's was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is really intimate to start. We began with a caesar salad which was delicious and huge. My papardelle bolognese was out of this world, with big chunks of meat in a wonderful sauce. My husband's shrimp pasta was delectable. The chocolate bread pudding dessert was nice, but put us over the top! Pros: delicious food, service, location more

Hidden Jewel 6/7/2004

As a regular local I have frequented Delfino on many occassions and found service and the food to be consistent. The menu changes seasonally which keeps it interesting. The staff has gone above and beyond to accomodate a party of 15 for my wife's birthday and the made it a very special evening. Pros: Food, Staff, Ambiance more

Bravo 3/4/2004

This had become one of my favorite places to eat! The scallop appetizer is a must. The waitstaff is helpful and friendly and the red zinfindel is great. Pros: Food, Food, Food more
