Best

There is no other place like deeply rooted. They have the pure talent that natural hair needs

Worst

I have gone to this place twice on a recommendation from a friend. The first experience was okay. I got my hair cut and then got double stranded twists. But for $82.00 I though...

This is for Kim. I admire you as a business person. Your shop is wonderful for natural hair, and any client can tell that you want the best for them. Although I do believe that one of your stylist should use cordiality when explaining why SHE does not want or cannot perform a certain service to a client's hair. Maybe more training is needed on her part, but she should not become upset at the client for requesting certain services to be done to their hair. In other words, everything that I wanted on my hair by your salon was done at another natural salon and the entire staff had all smiles, offering clients water and snacks as we briefly waited for service. This stylist should realize that competition is great; everyone wants to get paid. What service cannot be performed at one salon can be performed at another with knowledge and patience. \r \r Deeply Rooted is a very good salon with a very good owner/operator. Next time Kim, I want a different stylist for my hair, one without attitude. more

SUPER KID FRIENDLY -- If you have kids you should hurry up and schedule their appointment! All their stylists are wonderful with kids, my little girl Trinity is super tenderheaded so as a result I informed the stylist about it, and that being said the stylist Miss P did an excellent job on her hair and Trinity didn't even cry not once. more

Best at what they do ! 12/30/2011

I’ve been going to hair salons all my life for various reason, here at Deeply Rooted I feel at home. I won’t let any other stylist touch my hair besides Deeply Rooted. I’m convinced and fully know that the stylists at Deeply Rooted are the best at doing natural hair. more

In a hurry 9/24/2011

words can't even describe how good they did my hair. I was in a rush to get to my frat brothers' party and I needed a quick yet fresh hairstyle. My friend told me about a place called Deeply Rooted, and they took me in with open arms and did my hair efficiently. don't even get me started on the hair style, phenomenal. Ask for Toya she will hook you up ! more

HairSavers! 7/28/2011

Deeply Rooted, saved my hair from being severely damaged. I have been with deeply rooted for 3 years and they have saved my hair. The transition process to natural hair was long but it was worth the wait. In the transition period I was able to play around with my semi natural by doing natural styles. These stylists will care for your hair as if it were their own. Now 3 years later my hair is thicker than ever and longer than ever and I will never put a chemical back in my hair. more

an emergency forced my regular loctitian to cancel on me last minute so i had to find somewhere to go asap before my trip out of town the following day.\r \r I called the salon and not only were they able to squeeze me in, but the service was prompt, good and the energy was nice. \r \r I look like a million bucks for almost the same price i usually pay! and Paedra was amazing with the interlocking/styling.\r \r thanks to the entire staff of deeply rooted. you're a life saver! more

Deeply Dirty 8/13/2010

For all of those you who may know Deeply Rooted has two locations. To begin, this salon has been blessed with some of the most talented stylists/barbers etc. in the nation (from NY, Detroit, California, Baltimore, Philly-only to name a few). What you may not know is the business practices of the owner and her management. Let's just say very GRIMY and Dirty. In addition to overcharging the stylists (hence, some of the prices all have paid and been quoted), employees have found their checks to be short, are not paid in a timely manner, and have often been unable to cash their checks as a result of inadequate cash flow management. Here comes the grimy....(wait for it) in hopes of pursuing her own career goals, one stylist made the decision to depart. Upon learning the unlikeness of being able to reap further fruit of the stylists talent (that is, she asked if her spot could be associated with deeply rooted) rather than taking the loss, she unexpectedly terminated the employee. People we have to wake up!!! As a community we cannot continue to patronize businesses (black or white) with business practices that undermine the black entrepunerial spirit! To the current management I leave you with this.... Hate on HATA! more

Not a good salon at all. 5/22/2010

Everything is stated in the cons. I can't even get management to give me a call back. The loctician named Nneka didn't even show for my appointment. Nneka quoted me one price for starter locks and the woman who actually did it raised the price by $75. Cons: Rude employees, slow or no-show stylists, poor management more

A earthy chic kinda groove 3/30/2010

I must say i friend refered me to the salon, and i had one of the best experiences ever. Soon as i walked through the door,i was greeted with a big hello. i took off my jacket, and the assistant seated me right at the wash bowl no wait...im such a lil stickler for time,so we were off to a good start. She started telling me about my hair and how being natural was waaayyy better than chemically treated her..The girl at the front desk asked me where i was from i said ny,she said me too!!and we talked and talked about all the must sees. Then this earthy soul type girl literally bounced out,i think her name was carine, she was from california, and really reminded me of flower power lol...such good energy this place,my stylist jamila straigtened my hair so good,it reminded me of my old relaxer except with more bounce.I loved it everyones so down to earth, I definately will be back hands down Pros: prime location, friendly svc, more

What a wonderful place! 3/30/2010

The feeling of the salon is very welcoming, personal, and the atmosphere is really special. It's the way every other salon should be, and you can notice that difference right when you walk in. From the initial greeting to the shampoo to the stylist I felt special! In short, if you are looking for an awesome hair experience you must try Deeply Rooted!!! Pros: Customer Service!!!!! more

NOT HAPPY NAPPY HELL 3/25/2010

I visited your establishment on Spring Road today. Today was to be a monumental day. I was starting my journey to natural hair by way of Locs. I arrived at your salon at 5:00 and I was greeted and told to sit at the shampoo area. The shampoo person used her nails to scrape my scalp raw. I know that some people like a rigorous shampoo but it is to be done with the balls of your fingertips. The stylist Nika (sp) started my hair and it was going well. Even though she continually yelled across the salon about making her evening plans on time, I was ok with that. My problem is that apparently I was an inconvenience because she constantly checked her watch and commented to the other stylist that she had to make her exercise class on time. So she rushed through my service, put me under the dryer and told me SOMEONE WAS GOING TO TAKE OUT MY CLIPS!!! She then grabbed her gym bag, instructed me to come back in two weeks and flew out the door. I then sat under the dryer with no towel for two hours. No one asked if I was OK or paid me slightest attention. After the clips finished burning my neck the dyer stopped. A stylist came over to check my hair and then started to unravel the twists!! (which I didn’t realize till I arrived at home) WTF!!! Clearly she didn’t know what service I was receiving. Not her fault since my stylist left 2 hours ago to make it to an exercise class! I was then sat back under the dryer. Then another stylist took out my clips, did not oil my scalp or even show me the finished style!! Really? If I had known that this is what happens in a NATURAL HAIRCARE SALON I WOULD HAVE GOT A RELAXER!!! (NOT REALLY) I hope that you address this issue, because after arriving home, I was so upset that I started to Google reviews on your establishment and found some of the same complaints dating back to 2007! My family is in the hair care business and you must know that word of mouth can kill a business, and no amount of slick advertising and web pages can replace UNPROFESSIONAL BAD SERVICE. Unfortunately what was to be a day of freedom forever from chemicals turned out to be a evening of Hell. Sincerely Still in pursuit of Nappy Happiness Cons: UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE WTH? more

Slow, unprofessional, unpredictable- Never again 3/26/2009

I had my forth appointment at this place. It was my third appointment with Fatima for loc maintenance and rod styling. My first appointment with her for maintenance and a trim had gone well. \r I also had an appointment with the colorist, Nicole. I had been styled by Nicole before and found her less than professional and seemingly inconvenienced by my presence. Perhaps she was having a bad day, so I switched to Fatima rather than writing off the whole salon.\r For my appointments, I arrived at 5:00 PM for the color appointment. Nicole walked by me without a word and didn’t get started until after 6:00 PM. I finally got to Fatima’s chair at 8:00 PM. Fatima then informed me that she was about to leave, she didn’t know what time it was, and as a result of the late hour, she could not do a rod style because it would keep her there too late. She did a maintenance twist and large cornrows, not at all what I wanted. This is the second time Fatima has refused to do the style I requested. In my previous appointment with her, she told me that she couldn’t do rods because the front desk clerk didn’t put it on her schedule, and she didn’t have time. Mistakes happen, so I didn’t make a big deal of it in that first instance. However, the second time was inexcusable. Her attitude was not only unprofessional and arrogant. It was as if my being there was an inconvenience to her. She never apologized at all.\r I tried to tell the shampoo person/front desk clerk what happened when I went up front to pay, but when the phone rang, she answered it and would not hang up to speak to me further. I paid, leaving no tips, and left with my hair braided in cornrows (a style I never wear) and wet. It was 40 degrees outside and I’m 7 months pregnant. I was not happy and neither was my husband when he felt my wet locks. I don’t usually sit that long, but I made the appointment and prepared myself for the long wait under the drier because I thought I was getting rods. However, to sit from 5:00 PM until about 9:30 PM and not get what I had requested FOR THE SECOND TIME, was to me both unprofessional and unfair.\r It's not worth it. I'm done with Deeply Rooted. \r \r Pros: one good shampoo attendant, styles are attractive Cons: slow, arrogant and unfriendly stylist, poor customer service more

You gotta go here if you have natural hair 9/4/2008

Yo this spot in Smyrna will hook you up if you got natural hair. It's called Deeply Rooted. They do everyhting natural. Dudes were walking out of there with their locs right! The ladies have a lot of fun. It seems weird because everybody gets along. The atmosphere is very chill too. I'm tellin you, you'll really enjoy it. I didn't pay that much for my hair, and i was given a 10% discount for my first visit...you can't beat that. If you call them they only give you a starting price over the phone, but it didn't jump to anything outrageous when I got there, it was very reasonable. Anyway, check em out, you'll enjoy it!!! Pros: Cool People, chill atmosphere, knowledgeable about hair, know what they're doing more
