Want to spend $23.00 for breakfast? 1/2/2010

First time to dazzle buffet. $17.95 plus tax $19.40 plus tip....$23.00 bucks. Nothing more than breakfast with lots of other carbs. Need to lower price to $13.95. Staff did a good job? clearing plates from table. If you drink $30.00 for one person. Pros: Buffet set your own pace.... dessert bar Cons: Carving station = Meat loaf in a pan??? more

low class 4/13/2009

This is what you call a supper club? Come on Denver get it right. The young boy running the place needs to work behind a computer and not with people .. not very personable or what I would consider the right choice for managing a place that should be trying to "dazzle" their customers. Pros: band is too good for this place. Cons: trashy more

Rude management 2/22/2009

We were repeatedly asked by management to be quiet .. only we were not being loud. I asked the manager why he asked us to be quiet when we were not making noise .. he told us the owners tell him to do that. It was pretty ridiculous and I will never be back. Pros: good music Cons: not allowed to talk more

Best jazz club in Colorado! 12/24/2008

THE place for great jazz in town. It's the only club that presents a wide variety of jazz in a serious listening room for those really into the music. Not a place to take a date to impress her on how sophisticated you are and then spend the evening talking over the music, like the other clubs in town. As an added bonus, they have a great menu with a wide price range...something for everyone. Friendly staff who does their best under challenging circumstances, with everyone seated and ordering basically at the same time. I'd recommend getting there a half hour before show time for the best seat and service. Pros: great music, great burgers, friendly atmosphere Cons: a post right in the middle of the room. get there early for a good seat. more

I Love this place! 12/3/2008

I've been going to Dazzle since a few weeks after I moved to Colorado, five years ago. What drew me in wasn't the jazz....it was the Happy Hours! Wow! A $5 burger?! And I mean a REAL burger...not some fast food slab that was formed sometime on the late 80's and kryogenically frozen to be eaten at a later date. That, and their $4 martinis always work for me. Also, if you haven't been to brunch at Dazzle; you haven't been to brunch - Another wow! Definitely the perfect Sunday morning hang-over cure. The bathrooms are kinda cramped, but, I don't spend a whole lot of time in bathrooms, so, I can get over that. As I said, I rarely go in for the jazz....just for the food and drink. I have friends who are really into jazz music, and always rave about the shows they've seen there. Overall, I think Dazzle is a great "local spot" and hope they're around for a long time. Did I mention the mac and cheese? can I "wow" again?! Pros: Good food and drinks; great live music Cons: very little, if any, parking; cramped bathrooms more

Not worth the cover...even for the great jazz 11/14/2008

It?s easy to hire a talented young web designer to make a venue appear to be a class joint. And, it just takes some marketing dollars to broadcast to the world that you have created a great jazz club. Dazzle's owners have hyped this place as the premiere jazz club in Denver. In fact, Dazzle is a dive that is mostly a meet-market for the Gens X, Y, and Zs. The ladies room is always a good indicator for how clean the kitchen will be. This tiny two-seater is filthy. The sink is dripping with unidentifiable goo, and the trash can is overflowing with used paper towels. The toilet tissue is retrievable from where it is rolling around on the filthy floor. The space promoted as a "listening room" is separated from the loud and rowdy bar by only a lightweight curtain. No matter how close you sit to the stage, the din and clatter of the revelers and the wait staff overpowers the music. Even the young patrons who were there for the jazz spent most of the performance engaged in loud conversation. My drink was prepared incorrectly. My date's drink was delivered a full 25-minutes after mine was repaired - but neither were great drinks and they are very chintzy with the alcohol. And worst of all - throughout John Gunther's performance, the waiter repeatedly stepped in front of me, blocking my view of the show, as he tried to sell me more motley cocktails. If you needed to exit this place in a hurry, you would be trampled in a stampede. It is very difficult to leave as you cannot get past the line of XYZs trying to get into the watering trough section of Dazzle. Coming from another jazz city, Dazzle proved to NOT be the class joint I expected. I should have figured from the half burned-out neon sign on the front and the dirty sidewalks at the entrance. Parking is miserable and drunks on the street from all the other clubs on Lincoln made me feel unsafe. If I ever do go back, I?m packin? heat in my purse for protection. Pros: Top Jazz Talent Cons: You can't hear the band for all the bar noise; No parking in an unsafe neighborhood more

Great music, but too noisy, and too crowded on weekends. 11/14/2008

Ok, I have been to several shows there. I go for the music, not to drink in the lounge and be a part of the 'Yuppster Hipster' scene. Denver is a great Jazz city. We have a huge amount of talent in the Denver metro area, much of which gets to play at Dazzle, as well as nationally and internationally known Jazz artists. They tout the whole 'we want to make this Denver's best Jazz listening room', and it is actually Denver's noisiest Jazz listening room on weekends. The lounge area and the showroom are not separated from each other enough, in my opinion. The loud 'Yuppster Hipster' chatter in the lounge bleeds through into the showroom in a big way. This is very annoying! Also many Jazz audience members in Denver do not know how to SHUT UP during a Jazz performance. Live Jazz is to be listened to as an active listener, not as just background music! Unnecessary talking during a performance is obnoxious! Dazzle's staff is overworked, and frequently slow in getting your order to you. This needs improvement. The food is good, but you often have to wait a while, especially on weekends. The club suffers from a major lack of parking, as it has to share the street and an elevated parking lot with 3-4 other 'Yuppster Hipster' drunkard establishments on Lincoln. Denver is lucky to have a Jazz club that features Real Jazz 7 nights a week. I just wish Dazzle could improve the service, bathroom cleanliness, sound quality and I also wish the noisy people would shut up! Pros: Great Real Jazz! Cons: Lack of parking, mediocre service, noisy lounge, more

Great music-awful service 10/17/2008

I want so much to love Dazzle, but while I have tried it 4 times now, I just cannot say that the bad service is just a fluke. For as busy as this place is you'd think that the server's would eventually "catch on". Not so! The bar is excruciatingly slow as well. It doesn't matter where you sit, the service is AWFUL. The last time I was there I ordered a burger and stated that I would like it cooked "medium" when I was asked by our server. When it came out it was so charred I couldn't even eat it. It tasted like charcoal. When I stated (politely) to the server that my burger was not edible, she asked if I wanted anything different-which I declined, again politely. We had had an appetizer and my husband had a large sandwhich, so I just shared what was left. Not that big of deal, except I was disappointed. However after our server took my food, she was EXTREMELY rude, like I had personally offended her. It took us 20 minutes to get her attention. We had wanted another drink, bnut opted to just get the check after we realized that we were no longer going to be a priority. It took another 20 minutes for her to come back and pick up our card. I am fully aware, being in the service industry for 12 years myself, that servers have little to do with the quality of food, however if you are going to take the fact that someone doesn't like their improperly prepared food personally, you need to find a new gig. We left her a 20% tip, (calculated before the burger was taken off our bill) but I will NEVER be returning. This place needs a management and staff OVERHAUL! Pros: Goat cheese casserole-Old Fashions Cons: SERVICE-CHEFS-ZERO professionalism more

Good Music - but that's it. 10/13/2008

This place looks pretty cool, it's got great decor, good vibe and a good music to boot. I'd definately go to hang out and unwind with a drink. But... if your hungry and your appetite is a somewhat larger than that of a fourth grader then I wouldn't suggest ordering up cuz you won't be satisfied and you'll be that much poorer for it. While the food was unique and flavorful it did not satisfy because all you get is miniturized portion for the full price plus. I mean, a small bowl of tortilla chips with a few pieces of corn and half an avocado for $7...give me a break. The salmon sliders were good - tasty morsel w/ citrous guac. but again a total rip off for $13. Any where else you get a sizable serving of salmon, not here... I got a three VERY small pieces just dabbed with a speck of guac...WEAK. I was still hungry when I left. Pros: Ambiance and music Cons: Food - portion size and price more

awesome happy hour!! 6/12/2008

I'd heard about Dazzle from a couple friends, and decided to finally head down and see for myself what the fuss was about. Wow! I went for Happy Hour on a Friday, and it was incredible. Not only do they have great food at a decent price... ($5 food menu) but they also have good drink specials. I thought it might be kind of uppity, but it wasn't! Totally laid-back atmosphere, with great service and good music too. If you haven't been there, go! Try the avocado or the mac and cheese... I promise you won't be disappointed. I haven't been there for a show yet, but they apparently have live music 7 nights a week- and I've heard that it's all top notch players. I've decided to make it my new hang, go check it out for yourself!! Pros: service, music, ambience, food more

Avoid at all costs. 11/15/2007

I can't believe the other reviewers dined at the same Dazzle that I just have. A friend and I made reservations and arrived to find a mad house at the front hostess desk. We were seated and handed the specials menu for the previous day, which didn't help much. The place was packed, apparently there was a fundraiser going on during the lunch hour. I wish the restaurant would have let me know about this event when I made the reservations since having to listen to the host's fundraising spiel as I was waiting for my meal, was less than appealing. It took 15 minutes before a waitress appeared at the table. You are given 3 choices for lunch. We chose the selection, which was hyped as chicken with rice, veggies, and Cesar salad. Not very inspiring, but I was fine with that. When it arrived I honestly had to hold in my laughter. I've had better meals at my grandmother's retirement home. It was plated on one of those segmented plates you got in elementary school. The "chicken" was mixed in with the rice and there might have been 4 very small pieces mixed in with the rice. It looked and tasted like it used to be luncheon meat. The Cesar salad contained about 4 leaves of lettuce and about 3 tablespoons of dressing. The veggies was exactly 3 stalks of broccoli. Honestly, if I hadn't been given a gift certificate for the meal I would have never ever paid for it. My friend and I would have been better served and left more satisfied if we would have eaten at the Spicy Pickle next door. more

Best Sunday brunch in town!!! 3/15/2007

My family was in town for a few days and I brought them to Dazzle for the Sunday brunch buffet...Fabulous! The service was exceptional, the food was decadent and outstanding, and the buffet was incredibly affordable for the quality and abundance of it! Not to mention, there was live jazz onstage during our meal, the entire experience was all-around wonderful and I will reccommend it to everyone! I would recommend reservations just to be sure, however, we didn't have any and they got us right in! more

One of the best live music places in Denver 11/12/2006

Dazzle has a great atmosphere, very hip and cool. Seating wasn't a problem, even on a Saturday night. The music is great, and the lighting is romantic. Bigger dance floor space would be nice. The cover was only $5 per person, so quite reasonable. Great drink selection and some great appetizers as well. Overall, it's a great place to go on a date or even just hang out with friends. more

Great live music 10/26/2006

Great atmosphere, excellent food and service. Live music every night. Drinks are a little pricey, but good presentation. Great Happy Hour specials (late nigth too). more

Best Jazz in Denver 6/9/2006

Dazzle gets by because it attracts a "cool" younger crowd to the martini neon bar, but it's real value to me is the jazz. They bring in top players, both locally and from outside Denver. They do a great job of supporting the community: young jazz players, for example. Generally a modest cover. The food is really pretty decent also... especially the burger with portabello mushroom. GOod folks running a good place that Denver is proud to have. Bravo! more

This lounge hits the spot for any Jazz lover. It's a classic after work martini hour! The people are beautiful and the music is sultry. If you love Jazz and want a crooner to share your cocktail hour....hit this neon joint! more

Wonderful 8/11/2004

My sister threw me a surprise party in the upstairs "private" room and it was so fun! It's a great place to rent for a semi-large party to have enough space for everyone to mingle. The Martini list is great, the food is excellent and the vibe is fun and diverse. A must for anyone! Pros: Food, Martini's, Ambience Cons: , Pricey more

Smooth 2/16/2003

All I can say is Dazzle fits it's name. Excellent local jazz talent that veries from swing, classic, to downtempo freestyle. Atmosphere is excellent; considering the place looks so dull from the outside. Beautiful use of color and light. The bar is very swank and the drinks are along the LoDo prices. Killer date spot. Why you ask, because if your girl dosen't like jazz, then you know it's time to get rid of her. Pros: Jazz, Atmosphere, Food Cons: Small bar area more

Dazzle still dazzles 12/17/2002

When Dazzle's management changed hands a couple years ago, I was sure it was headed for disaster. Dazzle had become my neighborhood bar after 3 years of attendance and had become a place where "everybody knew my name." Thankfully Dazzle has become something even better. Nightly live jazz, great food, great cocktails. The service is still good, even though my bartender pals are long gone. The crowd always seems diverse but not pretentious like crowds at Funky Buddha and LoDo bars. My favorite aspect of Dazzle is that it's a bar where you feel comfortable going for dinner and drink by yourself. I hope Dazzle becomes a true Denver mainstay. Pros: Nightly Live Jazz, Great Food, Great Cocktails more

Great Place to get UnFrazzled 11/4/2002

This club has Jazz virtually every night of the year. The quality of the musicians is supurb! The club is going through some remodeling and will be even better when finnished. The food is great also! Pros: Music, Atmosphere Cons: Parking, Smoke more
