We bought 2 slate-topped tables. One arrived with the entire side of one tile deeply chipped. First, the deilvery man told me this was part of the normal variation in the stone....

Don't believe what you hear. I went to Darvin because I was told they are the best around. Unfortunetly after 3 years and 2 months after buying a couch and love seat the vinyl started ripping at the seems of the love seat and the couch coushions started cracking and ripping leavign a hole in the material so you could see in the couch cushion. The manager also informed me they will not repair and replace item. STAY AWAY from darvin their furniture is crap more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! They do not back their products and do not care about customer satisfaction. They are unwilling to exchange an used product after 7 days and before 7 days they charge a 20% fee!! Read their fine print or better yet don't go there. more

BEWARE!! 3/26/2011

This place is a joke! We ordered a sectional and custom fireplace on January 1st. They finally deliver my furniture on March 18th. In the process of bringing in my sectional they shattered a picture, gouged, scratched and dented our walls and trim and tore the sectional. Then they bring in my custom fireplace which we waited 2 months for. It was the wrong fireplace. When we sat down with the manager we received no apology and only offered to give us $100 off the price of this sectional. I will never shop Darvin Furniture again! Absolutely horrible experience. more

Wonderful After Purchase Support 9/6/2010

I ran out there when I saw a nice TV stand that looked like it was the size and color we wanted. The half off sale price didn?t mean much, with furniture mark up if you wait everything is eventually half off?\r \r Anyways, the stand was what we wanted, it was a pick up only deal and you have to run to their warehouse 10 minutes away. I get there, the wait is short and they tell me to drive around to pick the thing up. Two guys throw it in the back of my SUV, it?s still in the box. I don?t want to take it out of the nice packing, but I did ask what happens if it is screwed up. They said give them a call, it won?t be a problem, and that they sold a bunch of these without any issues. I take the thing home and as I?m bring it in a hear something rattling around. When I opened it I realized that there was a cabinet door that came loose and rattled around, scratching up the the unit. Stay Away! 4/8/2010

My wife and I went to Darwin's a couple of months ago to look for some living room furniture. We put a deposit down for a chair and ottoman with the stipulation that they would mail us a fabric sample for us to approve. They said they would wait to get our approvals before actually placing the order, if we didn't approve the deposit would go back on our credit card. \r \r We received the sample and didn't not like the color, so we did not give them our approval to order. A couple of weeks later the entire purchase price of the chair and ottoman was charged to my credit card. When I called to protest, all they had to say was that we ordered it, which of course we had not. I then asked to talk to the store manager who was very rude and said that if the sales person said we ordered it that he would believe them over us. The sales person lied just to get his commission!\r \r This is the worst customer service I have ever seen. While I liked some of the furniture there, I definitely warn you to more

He said he had pointed it out at the warehouse that morning and was told to take the table anyway. He encouraged me to accept this damaged merchandise as normal. Then, the person at the call center said it was likely damaged on the truck, as that days truck was very full. I understand furniture can get damaged and thats unfortunate. However, its how you deal with things things as a business that makes you or breaks you. Lying to try to get me to accept damaged goods is BAD business. more

Big, but are they too big? 9/18/2008

Darvin had a huge showroom, lots of values to choose from and a wide selection of different types of furniture and accessory styles. However, their sheer size can lead to one hand not knowing what the other is doing, especially if you special order mechandise.\r \r The biggest issue I have with Darvin is that they, unlike most other furniture stores, require you to pay for your order in full three days prior to getting a delivery date scheduled, rather than paying for it at time of delivery. This leads to a comedy of errors when you've already paid for merchandise that shows up wrong and has to be reordered. \r \r For this reason, and this reason alone, we will not longer be buying anything from Darvin unless we pick the merchandise up ourselves so we can inspect prior to paying. more

Customer Services and 100% satisfaction 2/1/2008

We purchased a sofa and love seat and after looking at it closely, we found the material was falling apart, we called the customer services dept. and they had someone from upholstery come out and look at the fabric. they found it to be defective and exchanged it for a different fabric and new sofa's arrived today. Pros: thumbs up Cons: far from chicago, but worth the trip more

superior furniture 3/13/2006

This is hands-down, my favorite furniture store. They are huge and have salespeople who are very attentive, without being pesty or overbearing. They have decent financing and great 0% deals often advertised. The store is very organized by brand, and they have a design center that can help you find something to fit your style. You can find great bargains in their marked and reduced room. Some things may have the slightest scratch that can't be easily noticed, and the item gets way marked down. Can't beat a good bargain! more
