Best sushi around 10/6/2008

My husband and I have tried numerous sushi places around Hampton Roads and by far, Daikichi is the BEST! The atmosphere is nice and extremely friendly. The sushi is very fresh and neat/clean in presentation. The rolls are nice and tight and well-prepared unlike some other places we've been to. You can't leave without trying a Daikichi roll! We tend to eat mostly rolls and sushi pieces and haven't been disappointed yet. Daikichi is a great lunch spot as well. They usually have some good lunch specials to please everyone. I highly recommend Daikichi. It can be a bit difficult to find in you're not familiar with the area but worth the drive and effort! Pros: Food, service, atmosphere more

Best Local Sushi Place I have tried to date 2/26/2008

Daikichi (located in Greenbrier not Great Bridge as the previous reviewer indicates) serves the freshest most original Sushi in the vicinity. I have been to many of the local Sushi places in the South Hampton Roads area (they are popping up everywhere, aren't they?) and even though I work nearby had not been to Daikichi until very recently. The Daikichi roll is a taste and textural sensation and the Okinawai roll is also outstanding. I plan to visit again soon and often. The place is clean, the atmosphere is calming, and the people are friendly and cordial. Pros: Great food, ambience, service Cons: Leave yourself some time to enjoy the food and atmosphere more

An absolute gem hidden in Great Bridge 6/10/2007

Daikichi is the full package. Great sushi, very friendly and attentive service, and a nice and relaxing environment. I love sushi and due to my job, I've had the opportunity to eat at some great places from NY to SanFran to Tokyo. Daikichi holds it's own with the bast of them. Expect a warm welcome and some great and creative food. Who would have thought you could find such quality in a little strip mall in Chesapeake, VA. The only negative I can think of is it's location. The interior of the restaurant is very tastefully done - but the view throught the window is traffic and an unkempt open lot.\r \r If you're one of the many driving through the area headed for the Outer Banks, or if you're early for a flight out of Norfolk - you should stop in (it's only a minute off I-64 and only 10 minutes from the airport). Enjoy! Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance Cons: View out the window more

Japanese Owned 12/28/2005

Daikichi is the only Japanese owned restaurant in Hampton Roads. The two owners previously owned a restaurant in Washington D.C. The food is exquisite and the preparation and plate delivery makes for an experience we will never forget. I think the restaurant, located near the I-64 Battlefield exit, is the best kept secret for authentic Japanese food in the Hampton Roads area. more

Good Sushi - Close to Norfolk 9/6/2005

Daikichi is in an interesting location...tucked away in a small strip mall in Chesapeake. But the sushi is worth the drive from downtown Norfolk. Tasty rolls, including several house specialties, great atmosphere. Definitely a place to check out for lunch. Pros: Good Prices, Good Sushi more
