I and my family have had occasion to see both PA's and Dr. Huang. Although it is sometimes frustrating to wait on phone for appt. (don't call after 4 p.m.!), I have always found the staff to be courteous. Dr. Huang gave thoughtful consideration to us as patients. Usually I have to wait at least 30 to 45 minutes to see the PA or DR., however, as they take all the time I need to address my concerns, I know they are doing this with the other patients and do not mind. If one does not want to see a PA, all one has to do is request an MD. more

Made an appointment to see Dr. Huang today because my doctor, Dr. Avery, is on vacation. I waited in the exam room for more than 45 minutes before Dr. Huang showed up (terrible attitude in tow). I explained that I was a patient of Dr.Avery, gave him a brief history and some detail regarding changes to my symptoms - which included severe pain in the top of my foot and trouble with mobility. Dr. Huang had me walk in the hallway and did a brief check of each foot. He then told me numerous times that he couldn't help me because I wasn't his patient. Further, he said that he didn't know my history and there wasn't anything he could do for me. I challenged him,asking if I was understanding him correctly, incredulous at his flip manner. He responded that my reflexes and circulation were fine and that, "if a rheumatologist, orthopedic surgeon and Dr. Avery hadn't figured out my problem, I certainly can't do so in ten minutes". Dr. Huang was rude, inpatient, insensitive and immature. He showed no compassion for me whatsoever. My symptoms have changed in the last week and I needed some relief. All I got was Dr. Huang's sarcasm. I asked him several questions - all were answered with a sarcastic, "I can't answer that, you're not my patient." I got off the exam table and told Dr. Huang that I couldn't believe I'd waited 45 + minutes to be spoken to in this way and not received any treatment. Then he wanted to talk?!? He suggested that I may want to see a neurologist and said that, if I'd just give him five minutes he'd.... I said, you'll what? No answer. The only decent thing he did was offer to refund my co-pay. I refused, telling him that I was leaving. He sarcastically said that he hoped I felt better. I asked to speak with the office manager on the way out. She was courteous and apologized to me. Too little, too late. I can't remember how long I've been a patient at this practice but, during this time, I've seen Dr. Hammer (A+), Stacey Bauer (A+) and Dr. Avery (A+). After today, I doubt that I'll ever go back. more

Dr Jhariwala seems nice but i got the impression that he was rushing me...didnt take note of my reason for visit....didnt answer some Qs i had...whenever i call i always get his nurse and can never get a direct answer from her and can never talk to Dr J directly.... i dont think i will visit him again..... more

My husband and I have been going to Dr Arvind Jariwala at Blue Ridge Family Practice since the 1990s. We never have to wait longer than a day for an appointment and are usually seen within twenty minutes of our appointment time. Dr Jariwala listens patiently and explains problems, possibilities and medications succintly and clearly. He is personable and has a good bed side manner. more

The last time I went to Blue Ridge Family Physicians they had me do a urine sample in a drinking cup, and had apparently lost 4 other patients, mistaking me for those patients repeatedly. Yesterday I called them and left a message requesting an inhalor for my asthma. They called back 7 hours later and left this message "You have been to the office since may, if you would like an antibiotic prescription please set an appoitment". Ok, an inhalor is NOT an antibiotic, and as an asthmatic without one I could die. Asthma isn't somehting that goes away so an appoitment isn't going to change the fact that I need one, and its not like its realy a "controlled" drug. there arn't kids out selling them to their friends. So, they won't write the prescription, but they will call and talk about scheduling an appoitment where I can give then tons of $$? These people seriously dont have their act together. Blue Ridge Family Physicians PLLC is a large medical practice located near Rex Hospital. Even with a large number of doctors, appointments can be hard to schedule. However, I have received nothing but great care from any doctor or physicians assistant that I have seen. The nurses are friendly, but the office staff can be a bit short tempered. The waiting room is large and has a play area for children, but there are no magazines. more

I went to blue ridge when i first moved to town and was looking for a heath care provider. I had to stay on hold for about an hour in order to make an appointemtn. During my appointment I was mistaken for 4 other patients, whom the nurses had apparently misplaced. My urine sample was done in a styrophome drinking cup...
