Cuban Revolution Restaurant & Bar

there are two murderers on the wall. Fidel Castro is an oppressive tyrant. To try and make the Cuban revolution trendy is absurd. I thought there were educated people in downtown Durham. The bad food and terrible sangria will do them in soon but how can a decent educated person go to this place and look at communists despots in their face. I grew up in Miami. People risk their lives to come to America, many drowned. His regime is still harming people. Have some character and stand for what's right. more

Group of friends decided to try Cuban Revolution on the recommendation of others. We should have saved our money and time. The food was mediocre and service slow but friendly. One order was ""lost"" and came out after everyone else had finished and then it was luke warm. \r However, the kicker was one person finding a long hair in the middle of their wrap. The waitress was informed and she informed the manager. After waiting for some time thinking that the manager would make an appearance we asked the waitress to see them. They never came to the table to the table. The person was comp'd for the meal but not addressing the customer once they were asked to see the manager is inexcusable. It tells us that they don't care and if they don't care about hygiene then what else do they not care about?\r Will never return to this place.\r \r more

They have a great atmosphere, great tapas menu, and very helpful bartenders who are truthful about the menu. AND.. its really reasonably priced for being right outside of a ball park. $3 Imports on the day of a game?? Heck yeah, I'm going in before hand and having a couple of those! more

Not a bad hang out. There's a beautiful patio seating area overlooking the water fountain, in the courtyard, perfect for sunny days. I got the plantain chips with the garlic ailoli which was quite tasty. Chips were hot and crispy and paired well. This a nice, not crowded, plenty of space. Hostess was friendly, server was attentive. Nice to sit out and read in the sun. more

Enjoyed our meal and service was very good! We were running behind due to traffic. CR honored our reservation even though we were about half late. We will go again! more

Cuban Revolution is a great place to go get drinks and some good food for cheap! We went lastnight and they now have draft beer for $3 can't beat the price for a cold one!!! more

Wondered why all the negative reviews until we figured out that none of the reviewers have pictures, usually a sign that former employees have a grudge...lol...we really had a nice time there and LOVE the beer prices $3.00 for all their draft beers!! We will definately be returning for more tapas and cocktails before a Bulls game. more

Cuban Revolution is beautiful and the food is AAA+++. Nothing like it in Durham or for that matter Raleigh. It's an ecletic mix of American and Latino with a bit of hippie and chic thrown in with political messages surrounding you as you dine. WOW. Spent a great time at the bar which is stunning. Also, by FAR, BEST plasma TV sets in a restaurant setting I have ever seen. Fried green beans and maduras kick. more

I was finally able to check out Cuban Revolution for a work lunch today, and boy was I impressed. I can only imagine how great it must be for dinner/nightlife. It has a great atmosphere with awesome wall art and lighting. The menu is super trippy and it took me a minute to grasp all the food choices. The staff was very friendly and almost had me sold on dessert. Guava tart anyone? I ended up ordering a ""wrap"" that really should have been called a burrito. It was delish. Chicken, yellow rice, green peps, mushrooms, cheese, adobo. I shoved it down in mere minutes. more

I have to agree with the other five star reviews for this place! They have a great atmosphere, great tapas menu, and very helpful bartenders who are truthful about the menu. We went in before a Bulls game, and were actually pretty pleased at being able to walk in an hour beforehand and immediately get seating at the bar (where you can order from the full menu). The bartender was immediately friendly and talked to us about the kinds of drafts and drinks available, and made an off menu margarita for a friend. We ordered a bunch of great tapas - the sweet potato fries were GREAT, the nachos were actually, well, chili cheese fries (it was accurately described on the menu), and those little goat cheese stuffed peppers are like crack. We also ordered a burrito to split, and they actually split it into two mini burritos for us! I was pretty jazzed about that, and to top it off - it was quite tasty.I'll definitely go back and try out some more of that tapas menu - especially if they have their drink specials before the game! more

I visited this restaurant for the first time this afternoon. I never feel compelled to write a review. However, I couldn't wait to go home and write a review for this restaurant. The service was above and beyond. I LOVED my food. I'm half Cuban and grew up in Miami. I've eaten Cuban food all of my life. While some items tasted ""authentic"" and others not as much, I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I am so happy I found this restaurant. I will definitely be back. Wow...where to start? Ok, the food is the furthest thing from cuban food that exists in the triangle. It might be alright for someone who has no clue but it isn't even remotely passable.\r Price...way, way overpriced for something that once again, is not the real thing.\r Finally, there is ambience. The place has paraphenalia that seems to be supportive and sympathetic to the current regime and to its past supporters...unreal.\r Needless to say, we'll never go back to this restaurant.
