Upon reading all the reviews, I find myself realizing that not everyone will have a perfect experience at every church. I CAN honestly say this church has filled a need in myself, my family, and our needs to figure out who we are and why are we here? You get out of it what you put into it. From what I could see from all the reviews, is that people will continue to care for you as long as you keep them up to date on your happenings. You can't expect people to be mind readers. BUT, we are only human. As this church has had turnover, one to retirement, one to a calling in his aging parents hometown, we have nurturing and compassionate leaders here. We are blessed and are finding ourselves moving forward and changing as churches these days MUST do. We are not a Monster Church, but our numbers are strong and doing things for the right reasons. To Honor Him and praise Him. Yes, there are elders here on committees ( how valuable they are!), but they have often said it's time for new ideas and new visions, while maintaining and lifting up HIS name and HIS works. I am a long-standing member that has grown up here, married here, lost a parent here, had 2 babies here and my cup has overflowed with HIS blessings in my life. This church is my home!! There is no other place I want to be!! When my daughter was extremely ill and in hospital for 10 days, this church came together! My church family prayed, gave us strength, sat with us, made us meals, etc.. We never felt alone in one of the hardest time of our lives. When my husbands mother passed away, so many people made the long journey to be with us. This shows the true belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Pros: I can be who I am here more

I ment to post this a week ago after the wonderful Christmas music worship experience of the CUMC Cantata! This music leader and choir are awesome and I felt very moved when it was over. Every Sunday, they have a praise band at the early service (8:45) and their adult choir sings at the Traditional service which starts at 11:00am. You won't find a better example of dedicated and talented people anywhere around this area. Pros: largest choir in the immediate area Cons: Can't think of any! more

CUMC is a welcoming, non-judgemental place to worhsip and fellowship with other believers. There are many opportunities to grow in your faith from Sunday School, Wednesday night classes, weekly bible study and prayer groups. The children's program is awesome, providing a spiritual atmoshere that any child would feel loved, accepted and excited about Jesus. CUMC is a perfect balance between tradition and contemporary worship. If you are looking for a bridge between denominations, this is the choice. Pros: Perfect for worshipers looking for a balance. Cons: Still working on ways to reach out to non believers. more

Great place to hide and grow quietly in your faith in your own time (get your head straight ;) ) while learning from GREAT CHRISTIAN examples around you. No arm twisting- just comfort and love and great examples set in front of you. EVENTUALLY no matter how ""unworthy"" you think you are when you first showed up, later at some point you'll want to get off your butt in your own time and do something about your faith. You really learn what grace is here. If you you don't know, look it up. So many members are such great examples, it's hard not to learn from them. The denomination is set up purposely to shift pastor locations every 2 to 4 four years maximum, so if you come from a denomination where the pastor is the lifelong anchor of your church, this isn't for you. It works because frankly- I have loved every single one of our pastors since 1990 when I first visited. If you don't like to sing (I can't), well the sermons are worth the wait. ;) And the choir is awesome and sometimes down-right jaw dropping. The present pastor is kind, soft spoken and highly intelligent. His sermons are to the point, smart, highly persuasive and thought provoking. Younger congregation made up mostly of families with young children (ages 5 to 16) with another portion of grandparents and older couples. While no church fits right for everyone, this one made me who I am today and I, and my friends and family are grateful. If you are trying to figure out what your purpose in life really is and are a bit wandering lately, this is a great place to figure it out. If you have a family and want the best setting to raise a family among great christian examples, I can't imagine a better place. If you want to drive home with the radio unexpectedly off, because something the preacher or someone said is really making you think, this is a good place. Good luck in you search. You will recognize my header as a parable of Jesus and it is very fitting here. This is a church that has gone through three senior pastors in this decade (actually since 2005), and turns over its other pastoral staff every two years or so because no-one can stand working there for very long. My sources tell me that the bishop has a terrible job getting a new SP for the place because the KY conference insiders know that it is a Senior Pastor's nightmare. The reason for this is that the 'old guard' who run the committees put such pressure - sometimes subtle but pressure nevertheless - on the pastoral staff that they have no desire to stay very long. There is an clique of 50+ old folks in the church who form the bulk of the committee chairs, and insist on their ways regardless of whether this is the way the Bishop, pastor or staff believe is right and until they get out of the way, the church will remain a social club for Crestwood's wealthy older folk. I attended this church as a child from first grade until 12th. The youth programs there have always been wonderful and I loved being a part of it all. I made lifelong friends that I still treasure today. I've recently moved back to the area with my own family and have been taking my daughter to their Wednesday night GAFFA program (which I was a part of as a child) and have been very impressed with what it still has to offer. She sings, makes crafts, and learns about unconditional love that our God provides. I attend some wonderful Bible studies myself that I enjoy studying for! The people who dedicate part of their lives to doing God's work at this church are a gift to me and everyone else who attend. Pros: Youth Programs, Great BIBLE studies for adults, fellowship Cons: Not having a place to fellowship with other worshippers is a con in anyone's life. more

If your looking for a place to ""hide"" on Sunday mornings or even during the week this is NOT the place for you. The congregation is warm and caring God is alive and well and you will be treated like part of the Christian Family. Pros: If you will let them they will make you part of their Christian family Cons: God has expectations of you and for your life. His presence might change you. more

I have attended Crestwood Methodist since moving here in 1999. I have seen all staff members come and go, and 3 different pastors in that time. The body of Christ is alive and well. There are so many loving Christians, who care about each other and want to serve God in all they do. There are many small groups available, there is a large Emmaus community with in the church and many people who have been given spritual gifts that they are happy to share. Our current pastor is one of the most humble and livng indivuduals I have ever met. He truly cares about the congregation and all they represent. Come and experience the love of Christ. Pros: Loving body of Christ. Cons: Need more information posted at entrances as to what is going on. more

If you're looking for a place to worship, a place to grow your relationship with Jesus Christ, a place to educate and nurture your children in God's word, a place to witness to the community, a place to call home....this is it. For 8 years we've been members of the Crestwood United Methodist Church family and welcome anyone who has a desire to know and love the Lord. From Upward Basketball to Prison Ministry, Scouting to quilting, CUMC has a place for everyone. Sundays begin at 8:45am with a contemporary service. 10am is Sunday School for children and adults. Traditional service is from 11am-12pm. Wednesday nights are food and fellowship including a meal at 5:30pm and classes of all kinds following, .e.g, weight loss, bible study, marriage care, muppets, choirs, divorce care, etc. Our doors are open.....decide to stop by! My family started attending Crestwood United Methodist Church in 1991. Uor three children were raised within this church setting. Our family was very active and supportive within the church and especially its youth groups during our children's school years. We moved from the Crestwood area in 1999 but returned in 2001. Once again we (my wife and I) began to attend services there. But it had become a different church. less friendly, more distant. Due to illness and a surgery we did not attend for approximately three months. The only time that I heard from the church was one evening in November of 2005 when someone knocked on our door. I answered the door, my arm in a sling from an operation. The gentleman said hello and handed me a box of tithing envelopes and walked away. Since that time, we have heard from representatives of Crestwood Untied Methodist Church three times. Twice by telephone, to encourage us to donate to the new activity center they were building and once yesterday (01-02-2008) when a box of tithing envelopes arrived in the mail. more
