They Have The Monopoly, and Do Not Offer the Greatest Service 5/28/2006

These days, cable is such a necessity, and it is very frustrating to me that one company has the monopoly in so many areas. It is even more frustrating, when that one company does not offer decent service. I have used Cox Communications in several areas in Oklahoma, and have had the same experience each time. I was really hoping that, being closer to Oklahoma City, living in Moore, I would receive better quality services from them, but that just is not the case. Working from home, and doing the majority of my work online, it is imperative that I have reliable, fast internet service. I opted for cable, because in my experience, it has been faster and more reliable than DSL. I am really starting to second guess my decision at this point. Cox does offer its customers bundled rates on their services, so that you can pay less, if you opt to get several services through them, such as phone, internet and cable television. That can be a huge benefit, as paying for each service individually can be quite costly. With the package we selected, we have high speed internet, digital cable, with all of the channels they offer, and home telephone service for close to a hundred dollars per month. Not great, but not bad. My problem is with the signal coming from Cox. We have experienced ongoing outages in our cable television, and more commonly to our internet service. This past Friday, we were without internet for most of the day. My frustration comes from the fact that we are paying the monthly fee for service, and, in my opinion, not getting the quality we deserve in return. We have had service technicians out in the past, and they have all told us that the signal strength coming in is not strong enough. So far, nothing has been done to correct the problem. We have another technician coming out tomorrow, so I am hoping that we will have better results than we have had in the past. I am just really disappointed with Cox Communications as a whole, as this is not a one time problem. As I mentioned earlier, I have had these problems in several different areas of the state. I think we need more companies to choose from. more
