Dr. Harston 5/21/2008

We started seeing Dr Harston by a friends recommendation last year. My son has ADHD and had previously been seeing Dallas Psychiatrics. Dr Harston asks alot of questions and spends ALOT of time with us on our visits - she has ADD herself as well as her children and understands alot of the issues and medications. Dallas Psychiatrics made us pay a visit each month just to have a 5min visit and get the prescrip which was rediculous. Dr Harston is WONDERFUL and a god send! Go somewhere else and you'll know that she is the best out there. We have seen her in between reg appt times to adjust dosages, etc...you can call their office with any questions and they will call you back the same day...if you need to be seen, they will work you in the same day and I have never had more than a 30min wait and then she spends an hour+ in the room with us. I recommend Dr Harston to ANYONE. Pros: Staff is super-friendly, Dr spends alot of time with you Cons: none! more

Extremely unsatisfactory service 11/19/2007

Dr. Harston, a pediatrician claims to also be qualified in the field of diangosing & advising children in who have ADD or ADHD. She does not schedule much time to devote to this as it seems to be just an additional service to offer & may work if you don't have problems with medications, etc. If all you need is a perscription, you may be fine but if you really need to see her, you can not get in to do an ADD follow up appointment for 3 -5 months. If something happens & you need to change the appointment, you're out of luck & must wait another 3-5 months. Waiting time in the office can also be rediculously long & they are not consistant with follow up calls when requested. I recommend that anyone who really needs a qualified specialist in this area seek someone other than Melanie Harston. Cons: scheduling appointments 3-5 months out, waiting time in office, unsatisfactory follow up more
